Cable Confi guration Chart

Please use the chart below to select the correct wiring diagram to support your installation. Please ensure you also use the recommended Valet cable for the appropriate installation. Valet has many years of experience in installations of both Audio and Video. The cable distance can often have a detrimental impact on audio and video quality together with loss of voltage to critical operations.

We recommend the Valet 8 cable. This cable has 8 cores, 2 of which are shielded and should be used for Audio / Video signals to protect both clarity of image and quality of audio. The other cores give much greater fl exibility for your installation and can be doubled up in long cable run distances to ensure correct voltage and correct operation of electric door release signals.

If Upgrade Kit to CCTV/TV/Alarm Interface/Image is likely then Valet Smart Wire Composite must be used.

This ensures all Video signals are protected from interference as well as control voltage drop by pairing for certain confi gurations.

Please see Upgrade Kit wiring chart and confi guration guide.

System Power Supply

• Multiple Monitor Systems require an upgraded power supply. Please see below the recommended options available from your local Valet Dealer.

• Each Monitor can use a separate single unit power pack or up to 8 monitors can be powered by a

multi-power supply to the Main monitor and then star wired to the other Monitors. Star wiring of a multiple monitor system is the most effective method. A loop confi guration is possible, but you need to establish the formula of voltage drop as each monitor is looped ( effective transmission distance is dramatically reduced in a loop confi guration).

• Please see the recommended Valet Cable to ensure to optimise your cable network

• When fi tting Electronic Door Releases or Latches please ensure you chose a model with it own power

supply. Your Valet SmartCentre Intercom delivers the open / close signal only.

• P/C 31111111 2 amp 18v DC Single Systems

• P/C 31111111 20 amp 18v DC Multi-systems

SmartCentre Video Intercom Installation Instructions

Please see the relevant wiring diagram for the Smart Centre System you have chosen and ensure you have the correct cable for that systems requirements.

Single Camera to Single Monitor Installations:

1.1 Determine both SmartCentre Monitor and Doorbell/Camera operating positions and

heights. ( Average height 1.5 to 1.6 Metres ).

1.2 Run the appropriate cable between the two positions allowing at least 350mm excess at

each location.

1.3 Ensure you run cable through the appropriate back boxes if fi tted.

1.4 Unplug the connection terminal from the back of the monitor. ( Terminal J5).

1.5 Ensure power supply is disconnected at this point.

1.6 Connect cables as per the wiring diagram.

1.7 Re-connect terminal to rear of Monitor.

1 Single Doorbell/Camera:

2.1 Please take a moment to select the most suitable Doorbell/Camera position.

2.2 Please consider both daytime, night time and likely weather condition impact. Direct sunlight on the

camera and direct contact with rain should be avoided. Your Valet Dealer can assist you with

Weathershields for exposed positions.

2.3 Determine Camera Position: Please ensure you run cable through the camera mounting plate or back

box if fi tted. ( Average Height 1.5 to 1.6 metres ).

2.4 Both Surface Mount and Flush Mount Doorbell/Cameras require fi tting of each cameras mounting plate

or back box. Please check locating screws in top and bottom of Cameras.

2.5 The fl ush mount Camera requires a hole 75mm D x 50mm W at the desired location for the rear

camera housing and lens position adjuster. The Surface Mount Doorbell/Camera has an internal back

box that requires mounting on the wall.

2.6 Please ensure you run the cable through the mounting plate or back box

2.7 Connect your cable to the Doorbell/Camera following the wiring diagram .

2.8 Affi x the Doorbell/Camera onto its mounting plate or back box and secure with locator screws supplied.
