Please read these safety precautions carefully before using the product.

WARNING

If you ignore the warning message, you may be seriously injured or there is a possibility of accident or death.

If you ignore the caution message, you may be slightly injured or the product may be damaged.

Precautions in installing the product

WARNING

• Keep away from heat sources like electrical heaters.

► Electrical shock, fire, malfunction or deformation may occur.

• Keep the packing anti-moisture material or vinyl packing out of the reach of children.

Anti-moisture material is harmful if swallowed. If swallowed by mistake, force the patient to vomit and visit the nearest hospital. Additionally, vinyl packing can cause suffocation. Keep it out of the reach of children.

• Do not put heavy objects on the product or sit upon it.

If the product collapses or is dropped, you may be injured.

Children must pay particular attention.

• Do not leave the power or signal cable unattended on the pathway.

The passerby can falter, which can cause electrical shock, fire, product breakdown or injury.

• Install the product in a neat and dry place.

► Dust or moisture can cause electrical shock, fire or product damage.

If you can smell smoke or other odors or hear a strange sound unplug the power cord and contact the service center.

► If you continue to use without taking proper measures, electrical shock or fire can occur.

If you dropped the product or the case is broken, turn off the product and unplug the power cord.

► If you continue to use without taking proper measures, electrical shock or fire can occur. Contact the service center.

Do not drop an object on or apply impact to the product. Do not throw any toys or objects on the product screen.

► It can cause injury to human, problem to product and damage the display.

Do not let the product fall or drop when connecting it with an external device.

► This may cause injury and/or damage to the product.

• When connecting it with a game device, keep a distance of four times as long as the diagonal measurement of the screen from the device.

If the product falls because of the short cable, this may cause injury and/or damage to the product.

• Leaving a fixed image on the screen for a long time may cause damage to the screen and cause image burn-in. To use the product for a long period of time, use a screen saver on the PC or utilize the residual image prevention function on the product, and when the product is not used, turn off the power. Burn-in and related problems are not covered by the warranty on this product.

• Do NOT install this product on a wall where there is high risk of exposure to oil fumes or mist.

This may damage product and cause is to fail.

CAUTION

• Make sure the product ventilation hole is not blocked. Install the product in a suitably wide place. (more than 100 mm from the wall)

► If you install the product too close to the wall, it may be deformed or fire can break out due to internal heat.

• Do not block the ventilation hole of the product by a tablecloth or curtain.

► The product can be deformed or fire can break out due to overheating inside the product.

• Install the product on a flat and stable place that has no risk of dropping the product.

► If the product is dropped, you may be injured or the product may be broken.

Install the product where no EMI occurs.

• Keep the product away from direct sunlight.

► The product can be damaged.

• If you install the product in a place that does not meet the recommended conditions, this may cause serious damage to the product's picture quality, life cycle and appearance. Please check with LG or a qualified installer before installing. This caution applies to a place where there is an abundance of fine dust or oil mist, chemical substances are used, the temperature is very high or low, the humidity is very high, or the product is likely to remain turned on for a long period of time (airport and train station), failure to do so will invalidate the warranty.

• Do not install the product in an area with poor ventilation (e.g.on a bookshelf, in a closet) or outside and avoid placing on cushions or carpets.

In addition, do not install it where there are heating objects such as lighting equipment.

Precautions to the AC adapter and electrical power

WARNING

• If water or any foreign substance goes inside the product

(monitor, power cord, or AC adapter), disconnect the power cord immediately and contact the service center.

► Otherwise, this may cause a fire or electric shock due to damage to the product.

• Do not touch the power plug or AC adapter with wet hands. If the pins of the plug are wet or dusty, wipe and dry them before use.

Otherwise, this may cause a fire or electric shock.

• Make sure to completely insert the power cord into the AC adapter.

If loosely connected, the poor connection may cause a fire or electric shock.

• Be sure to use power cords and AC adapters provided or approved by LG Electronics, Inc.

The use of non-approved products may cause a fire or electric shock.

• When unplugging the power cord, always pull it by the plug. Do not bend the power cord with excessive force.

► The power line can be damaged, which may cause electric shock or fire.

Be careful not to step or place heavy objects (electronic appliances, clothing, etc.) on the power cord or AC adapter. Be careful not to damage the power cord or AC adapter with sharp objects.

Damaged power cords may cause a fire or electric shock.

• Never disassemble, repair or modify the power cord or AC adapter.

► This may cause a fire or electric shock.

• Make sure to connect the power cable to the grounded current.

► You may be electrocuted or injured.

• Use the rated voltage only.

The product can be damaged, or you may be electrocuted.

In the presence of thunder and lightning, never touch the power cord and signal cable because it can be very dangerous.

• Do not connect several extension cords, electrical appliances or electrical heaters to a single outlet. Use a power bar with a grounding terminal designed for exclusive use with the computer.

A fire can break out due to overheating.

Do not touch the power plug with wet hands. Additionally, if the cord pin is wet or covered with dust, dry the power plug completely or wipe dust off.

You may be electrocuted due to excess moisture.

• If you don't intend to use the product for a long time, unplug the power cable from the product.

Covering dust can cause a fire, or insulation deterioration can cause electric leakage, electric shock or fire.

• Fix the power cable completely.

► If the power cable is not fixed completely, a fire can break out.

• Do not insert a conductor (like a metal chopstick) into one end of the power cable while the other end is connected to the input terminal on the wall. Additionally, do not touch the power cable right after plugging into the wall input terminal.

► You may be electrocuted.

• The appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device.

Please make sure the device is installed near the wall outlet to which it is connected and that the outlet is easily accessible.

• As long as this unit is connected to the AC wall outlet, it is not disconnected from the AC power source even if the unit is turned off.

CAUTION

Be sure to keep the outlet, AC adapter, and pins of the power plug clean from dust and etc.

This may cause a fire.

• Do not unplug the power cord while the product is in use.

Electrical shock can damage the product.

Use only the power cord supplied with the unit. If you use another power cord, make sure that it is certified by the applicable national standards when not provided by the supplier. If the power cable is faulty in any way, please contact the manufacturer or the nearest authorized repair service provider for a replacement.

Precautions in moving the product

• When cleaning the product, unplug the power cord and scrub gently with a soft cloth to prevent scratching. Do not clean with a wet cloth or spray water or other liquids directly onto the product.

An electric shock may occur. (Do not use chemicals such as benzene, paint thinners or alcohol)

• Take a rest from time to time to protect your vision.

• Keep the product clean at all times.

Take a comfortable and natural position when working with a product to relax the muscles.

Take a regular break when working with a product for a long time.

• Do not press strongly upon the panel with a hand or sharp object such as nail, pencil or pen, or make a scratch on it.

• Keep the proper distance from the product.

Your vision may be impaired if you look at the product too closely.

• Set the appropriate resolution and clock by referring to the User’s

Guide.

• Use authorized detergent only when cleaning the product. (Do not use benzene, thinner or alcohol.)

Product can be deformed.

Do not expose to dripping or splashing and do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, cups, etc. on or over the apparatus(e.g. on shelves above the unit).

• Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat. For example, keep away from direct sunlight, open fireplace and electric heaters.

• Do NOT place non-rechargeable batteries in charging device.

Using headsets (earphones) for a long time or listening loudly can cause damage to your hearing.

Spray water onto a soft cloth 2 to 4 times, and use it to clean the front frame; wipe in one direction only. Too much moisture may cause staining.

• Do not use products using high voltage around the Monitor. (ex.

Electrical Swatter)

Monitor may have malfunction as its electrical shock.

• Do NOT install this product by yourself as you may injure yourself or cause damage to product. Please contact Service personnel authorised by Manufacturer.

Your monitor’s OSD (On Screen Display) may differ slightly from that shown in this manual.

The available menus and options may differ from the input source or product model that you are using.

New features may be added to this monitor in the future.

• For an optimal connection, HDMI cables and USB devices should have bezels less than 10 mm thick and 18 mm width. Use an extension cable that supports USB 2.0 if the USB cable or USB memory stick does not fit into your monitor’s USB port.

Moving and lifting the monitor

When moving or lifting the monitor, follow these instructions to prevent the monitor from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe transportation, regardless of its shape or size.

• It is advisable to place the monitor in the original box or packing material before attempting to move it.

• Before moving or lifting the monitor, disconnect the power cord and all cables.

• Hold the top and bottom of the monitor frame firmly. Do not hold the panel itself.

• When holding the monitor, the screen should face away from you to prevent it from being scratched.

• When transporting the monitor, do not expose the monitor to jolts or excessive vibration.

• When moving the monitor, keep it upright and never turn the monitor on its side or tilt it sideways.

CAUTION

• Image shown may differ from your monitor.

• Avoid touching the monitor screen as much as possible. Do not apply pressure.

- This may result in damage to the screen or some of the pixels used to create images.

• Do not carry the monitor upside-down by holding the stand body

(or stand base) as this may cause it to fall off, resulting in damage or injury.

When handling the monitor, be careful not to damage the protruding joystick button.

Installing the monitor

CAUTION

When attaching the stand to the monitor set, place the screen facing down on a cushioned table or flat surface to protect the screen from scratches.

• Applying excessive force when tightening screws may cause damage to the monitor. Damage caused in this way will not be covered by the product warranty.

• If you use the monitor panel without the stand base, its joystick button may cause the monitor to become unstable and fall, resulting in damage to the monitor or human injury. In addition, this may cause the joystick button to malfunction.

NOTE

• Remove the stand before installing the monitor on a wall mount by performing the stand attachment in reverse.

To protect the screen from scratches, cover the surface with a soft cloth.

Using the joystick button

You can simply operate the monitor functions, pressing or moving the joystick button up, down, left or right.

CAUTION

• When your finger over the joystick button and push it to the up, down, left or right, be careful not to press the joystick button.

Adjusting the menu

When the monitor is turned on, press the joystick button one time.

You can adjust the menu items moving the joystick button up, down, left, or right.

Turns the power off.

Clears on-screen displays and returns to monitor viewing.

Changes the input source.

When the monitor is turned off, place your finger on the joystick button and press it once and release it.

When the monitor is turned on, place your finger on the joystick button, press it once for a few seconds and release it. (However, if the menu button is on the screen, pressing and holding the joystick button will let you exit the menu.)

If you place your finger over the joystick button and move it left or right, you can adjust the volume level you want.

If you place your finger over the joystick button and move it up or down, you can change the menu.

2 Connect the AC-DC Adapter and Power Cord to a wall outlet.

CAUTION

Do not place the monitor near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage.

To avoid the risk of electric shock, disconnect the Power Cord before moving or installing the monitor.

Adjusting the angle of the monitor to suit view

• Image shown may differ from your monitor.

Tilt from -5° to 10° degrees up or down to adjust the angle of the monitor to suit your view.

When you adjust the angle, do not hold the buttom of the monitor frame as shown on the following illustration, as may injure your fingers.

Installing the wall mounting bracket support

As shown below, detach the stand bracket before installing the wall mounting bracket support.

Lay the monitor down on a flat surface with the panel facing down. Before that, lay down a soft cloth or a cushion first so as to prevent damage to the panel.

Using the kensington security system

(This is not available for all models.)

The Kensington security system connector is located at the rear of the monitor. For more information of installation and using, refer to the manual provided with the Kensington security system or visit

Connect the Kensington security system cable between the monitor and a table.

CAUTION

• Disconnect the power cord first, and then move or install the monitor. Otherwise electric shock may occur.

If you install the monitor on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury.

• Use an authorized LG wall mount and contact the local dealer or qualified personnel.

• Do not over tighten the screws as this may cause damage to the monitor and void your warranty.

• Use the screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Any damages or injuries by misuse or using an improper accessory are not covered by the warranty.

• Screw length from outer surface of back cover should be under

8 mm.

NOTE

Use the screws that are listed on the VESA standard screw specifications.

• The wall mount kit includes an installation manual and necessary parts.

• The wall mount bracket is not provided. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer.

• The length of screws may differ depending on the wall mount.

Make sure to use the proper length.

For more information, refer to the manual supplied with the wall mount.

NOTE

• The Kensington security system is optional. You can obtain additional accessories from most electronics stores.

Mounting on a wall

Install the monitor at least 100 mm away from the wall and leave about 100 mm of space at each side of the monitor to ensure sufficient ventilation. Detailed installation instructions can be obtained from your local retail store. Alternatively, please refer to the manual for how to install and set up a tilting wall mounting bracket.

To install the monitor to a wall, attach a wall mounting bracket

(optional) to the back of the monitor. Make sure that the wall mounting bracket is securely fixed to the monitor and to the wall.

If you use screws longer than the standard length, it may damage the inside of the product.

A non-VESA standard screw may damage the product and cause the monitor to fall. LG Electronics is not liable for any accidents relating to the use of non-standard screws.

Connections (Notifications)

Connect various external devices to the monitor and switch input modes to select an external device. For more information about an external device’s connection, refer to the manual supplied with each device. Available external devices are: HD receivers, DVD players,

VCRs, audio systems, USB storage devices, PC, gaming devices, and other external devices.

NOTE

For the best picture quality, connect the external device and the monitor with the HDMI cable.

The monitor may flicker when turned on in an area where the temperature is low. This is normal.

• Sometimes red, green, or blue spots may appear on the screen.

This is normal.

• Do not press the screen for a prolonged time. This may cause image distortion.

• Do not display a still image on the screen for a prolonged time.

This may cause image retention. Use a screensaver if possible.

• The external device connection may differ from the model.

For the best picture and audio quality, connect the external device and the monitor with the HDMI cable.

• USB port supports 0.5 A electric current. If you need more electric current in case of HDD, use the separate power adaptor.

Remote control

The descriptions in this manual are based on the buttons on the remote control.

Please read this manual carefully and use the monitor correctly. To replace batteries, open the battery cover, replace batteries

(1.5 V AAA) matching the and ends to the label inside the compartment, and close the battery cover.

To remove the batteries, perform the installation actions in reverse.

CAUTION

• Do not mix old and new batteries, as this may damage the remote control.

• This remote uses infrared light. When in use, it should be pointed in the direction of the monitor’s remote sensor.

Connecting USB storage devices

CAUTION

• Do not turn the monitor off or remove a USB storage device while the USB storage device is connected to the monitor, as this could result in loss of files or damage to the USB storage device.

• Back up your files saved on a USB storage device frequently, as you may lose or damage the files and this may be not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Connect USB storage devices (USB memory) to the monitor and use multimedia features. Connect a USB flash memory or USB memory card reader to the monitor. To disconnect a USB storage device, make sure to end the connection properly to prevent damages to the monitor or files.

Tips for using USB storage devices

Only a USB storage device is recognizable.

If the USB storage device is connected through a USB hub, the device is not recognizable.

A USB storage device using an automatic recognition programme may not be recognized.

• A USB storage device which uses its own driver may not be recognized.

Tips for using playing video files

• Some user-created subtitles may not work properly.

• Some special characters are not supported in subtitles.

• HTML tags are not supported in subtitles.

• Video files with subtitle files of 1 MB or larger may not be played properly.

Cleaning your monitor

Clean your monitor regularly to keep the best performance and to extend the product lifespan.

Make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables first.

• When the monitor is left unattended and unused for a long time, disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet to prevent possible damage from lightning or power surges.

Screen, frame, cabinet, and stand

To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage to the screen.

• Do not push, rub, or hit the surface with your fingernail or a sharp object, as this may result in scratches on the screen and image distortions.

Do not use any chemicals as this may damage the product.

• Do not spray liquid onto the surface. If water enters the monitor, it may result in fire, electric shock, or malfunction.

Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.

Preventing “Image burn” or “Burn-in” on your monitor screen

• If a fixed image displays on the monitor screen for a long period of time, it will be imprinted and become a permanent disfigurement on the screen. This is “image burn” or “burn-in” and not covered by the warranty.

• If the aspect ratio of the monitor is set to 4:3 for a long period of time, image burn may occur on the letterboxed area of the screen.

NOTE

• Avoid keeping a fixed image on the set’s screen for prolonged periods of time. The fixed image may become permanently imprinted on the screen. Use a screen saver when possible.

• There may be interference relating to resolution, vertical pattern, contrast or brightness in PC mode. Change the PC mode to another resolution or change the refresh rate to another rate or adjust the brightness and contrast on the menu until the picture is clear. If the refresh rate of the PC graphic card can not be changed, change the PC graphic card or consult the manufacturer of the PC graphic card.

• If using a sound card, adjust PC sound as required.

DOS mode may not work depending on the video card if you use an HDMI to DVI cable.

Disposal of your old appliance (as per e-waste Rules)

1. When this crossed out wheeled bin symbol is depicted on the product and its operator’s manual, it means the product is covered by the e-waste

Management and Handling Rules , 2011 and are meant to be recycled, dismantled, refurbished or disposed off.

Do’s :

a. The product is required to be handed over only to the authorized recycler for disposal.

b. Keep the product in isolated area, after it becomes non-functional/unrepairable so as to prevent its accidental breakage.

Don’t :

a. The product should not be opened by the user himself/herself, but only by authorized service personnel.

b. The product is not meant for re-sale to any unauthorized agencies/scrap dealer/kabariwalah.

c. The product is not meant for mixing into household waste stream.

d. Do not keep any replaced spare part(s) from the product in exposed area.

3. Any disposal through unauthorized agencies/person will attract action under Environment (Protection) Act 1986.

4. “This product is complied with the requirement of Hazardous Substances as specified under Rule 13 (1) & (2) of the E-Waste(Management & Handling)

Rules, 2011”.

िोतिा िै तिो इसका मतिलब िै कक इसे “ई- अपशिषट “(प्रबंधन और िथालन ) ननयम २०११ के अंतिग्गति

सस्मशलति ककया गया िै , और इसे नवीनीकरणकरन ,ववघटन और ननपटान के शलए बनाया गया िै ।

क . उपकरण को शसर्ग अचधकृति पुनः नवीनीकरणकतिा्ग को िी ननपतिारण करने िेतिु ि्तिांतिररति करें ।

ख. जब उपकरण काय्गरति न िो इसे अलग क्ेत्र में रखें तिाकक उपकरण से िोने वाली दुघ्गटनाओ से बिा जा

सके ।

न करें :

क. इस उपकरण को ्वयं/खुद निीं खोलना िाहिए ! उपकरण को केवल अचधकृति अचधकारी के दवारा िी

खोला जाना िाहिए ।

ख. इस उपकरण को पुनः बबक्ी के शलए ककसी भी कबाडीवाला / भंगार-वाला / अनाचधकृति सं्था को न दें ।

ग. इस उपकरण को ककसी घरेलू अपशिषट सामान के साथ शमलाकर न रखें ।

घ. उपकरण के बदले िुए या आतिंररक पुरजो को खुले क्ेत्र में न रखें ।
