CAUTION concerning the Power cord Most appliances recommend they be placed upon a dedicated circuit; That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only that appliance and has no additional outlets or branch circuits. Getting Started Safety way to remove the battery or the battery from the equipment: Remove the old battery or battery pack, follow the steps in reverse order than the assembly. WIRING: This unit is supplied with a BS 1363 approved main plug. When replacing the fuse, always use of the same rating approved to BS 1362. Never use this plug with the fuse cover omitted. (Android OS) FM Antenna (1) Batteries (2) Getting Started Playable file Requirement Compatible USB Devices Music file requirement yy The USB function of this unit does not support all USB devices. yy Sampling frequency : within 32 to 48 kHz (MP3), within 32 to 48 kHz (WMA) yy Bit rate : within 32 to 320 kbps (MP3), 40 to 192 kbps (WMA) yy Maximum files : Under 999 yy MP3 Player : Flash type MP3 player. yy USB Flash Drive : Devices that support USB2.0 or USB1.1. USB device requirement yy Devices which require additional program installation when you have connected it to a computer, are not supported. yy Do not extract the USB device while in operation. yy Maximum folders : Under 99 yy For a large capacity USB, it may take longer than a few minute to be searched. yy File extensions : “.mp3”/ “.wma” yy To prevent data loss, back up all data. yy CD-ROM file format : ISO 9660/ JOLIET yy If you use a USB extension cable or USB hub, the USB device is not recognized. yy We recommend that you use Easy-CD Creator, which creates an ISO 9660 file system. The DTS is not supported. In case of DTS audio format, audio is not output. You have to set the disc format option to [Mastered] in order to make the discs compatible with the LG players when formatting rewritable discs. When setting the option to Live File System, you cannot use it on LG players. (Mastered/Live File System : Disc format system for Windows Vista) yy Using NTFS file system is not supported. (Only FAT(16/ 32) file system is supported.) yy This unit is not supported when the total number of files is 1,000 or more. yy External HDD, Card readers, Locked devices, or hard type USB devices are not supported. yy USB port of the unit cannot be connected to PC. Connecting 13 How to Affix the Ferrite Core Connecting to speakers Ferrite core may not be provided depending on each nation’s regulations. Connect the speaker cable plugs to the SPEAKERS connector. Make sure to connect the speaker’s plug to the corresponding speaker connector when connecting the plug. Affix the Ferrite Core for power cord 2 Connecting You must affix a ferrite core in order to reduce or eliminate electrical interference. 1. Pull the stopper [a] of the ferrite core to open. 2. Wind the power cord around the ferrite core twice. 3. Close the ferrite core until it clicks. It needs two persons to lift the speaker. Otherwise it may result in the speaker malfunction and cause personal injury and/or property damage. 2 yy The speakers must be placed at a distance of about 20 cm from the unit for preventing the vibration caused by the speakers. Connecting 20 cm 20 cm yy Check the volume level before playing music to prevent infirm, child, and pregnant women from being shocked by the sudden and loud sound from the unit. yy Do not use the unit in a limited space. It may damage a person’s hearing. It is recommended to use it in a wide space. yy Be careful to make sure children not to put their hands or any objects into the *speaker duct. *Speaker duct: A hole for plentiful bass sound on speaker cabinet (enclosure). yy The speakers contain magnet parts, so color irregularity may occur on the TV screen or PC monitor screen. Please use the speakers far away from either TV screen or PC monitor. yy Make sure to install the speaker with other people in order to prevent it from falling and causing injuries to the installer. Connecting Optional Equipment Connection 15 USB Connection Connect a USB device (or MP3 player, etc.) to the USB ports on the unit. Antenna Connection Connect the supplied FM antenna for listening Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM antenna connector. 2 Connecting ,,Note Removing the USB device from the unit : 1. Choose a different function/mode or press Z ENTER on the remote control or I on the unit twice in a row. 2. Remove the USB device from the unit. ,,Note Be sure to fully extend the FM wire antenna. 16 Connecting AUX IN Connection PORT. IN Connection Connect an output of auxiliary device(Camcoder, TV, Player, etc) to the AUX IN (L/R) connector. Connect an output (earphone or line out) of portable device (MP3 or PMP etc) to the PORT. IN connector. If your device has only one output for audio(mono), connect it to the left (white) audio jack on the unit. 2 Connecting Portable cable MP3 player etc. Listening to music from your portable player or external device The unit can be used to play the music from many types of portable player or external device. 1. Connect the portable player to the PORT. IN connector of the unit. Or Connect the external device to the AUX IN connector of the unit. 2. Turn the power on by pressing 1/!. 3. Select the PORTABLE or AUX function by pressing FUNCTION on the remote control or rotating FUNCTION knob. 4. Turn on the portable player or external device and start it playing. Operating Basic Operations CD/USB Operations 1. Insert the disc by pressing B or connect the USB device to the USB port. 2. Select the CD or USB function by pressing FUNCTION on the remote control or by rotating FUNCTION on the unit. USB MP3/WMA CD AUDIO CD REPEAT TRK REPEAT TRK REPEAT TRK REPEAT *DIR REPEAT DIR - REPEAT ALL REPEAT ALL REPEAT ALL RANDOM RANDOM RANDOM OFF OFF OFF *DIR : Directory yy When you play JUKE BOX list, only REPEAT TRK and REPEAT ALL are available. yy Even after restarting the unit or switching one function to another, you can listen to music from the point where it’s last been played. yy The next file name is displayed every 30 seconds. (Except RANDOM play, AUTO DJ RANDOM play, the last file of playlist, etc.) yy If you leave the disc tray open for 5 minutes, it will close automatically. Selecting a folder and an MP3/WMA file On the unit 1.Press FOLDER and rotate FILE SEARCH until a desired folder appears. 2.Press ENTER and rotate FILE SEARCH until a desired file appears. Press z to play it. On the remote control 1.Press PRESET.FOLDER W/S repeatedly until a desired folder appears. 2.Press d/M to play it. The first file of folder will play. 3 Operating Do this Press Z ENTER on the remote Stop control or I on the unit. Press d/M on the remote control Playback or z on the unit. Press d/M on the remote control or Pause z on the unit during playback. Searching Press C/V on the remote for a section control or Y/U on the unit within a track/ during playback and release it at file the point you want to listen to. This function is supported only in stop status. (USB only) FOLDER FILE FOLDER1 FOLDER3 -Select the folder you want to delete by pressing FOLDER and rotating FILE SEARCH knob and press DELETE. FILE5 FILE6 -Press and hold DELETE to format the USB device. FILE7 FOLDER4 FOLDER7 FILE3 FOLDER8 FILE10 Operating FILE4 FILE11 FILE12 FOLDER6 Press DELETE repeatedly during selecting the MP3/WMA file. The display changes in the following order. FOLDER2 FOLDER5 Or FILE8 FILE9 3 1. -Select the file you want to delete and press DELETE. FILE13 FILE 14 FILE1 FILE2 yy If there is no file in a folder, the folder will not appear. - DEL FILE? : Deletes file - DEL FOLDER? : Deletes folder - FORMAT? : Formats USB 2. To delete file/folder or format, press d/M on the remote control or press z on the unit. 3. If you want to exit the current mode, press Z ENTER on the remote control or press I on the unit. >>Caution yy Folders will be presented as the following order; ROOT FOLDER 1 FOLDER 3 FOLDER 7 FOLDER 8 FOLDER 5 FOLDER 6 yy Do not extract the USB device during operation. (play, delete, etc.) yy File will be played from $ file No.1 to $ file No.14 one by one. yy The delete function may not be supported according to the USB status. (lock, etc.) yy Files and folders will be presented in order recorded and may be presented differently according to the record circumstances. yy *ROOT : The first screen you can see when a computer recognize the CD/USB is “ROOT”. yy Regular back up is recommended to prevent data loss. Operating 19 Playback effect Deleting JUKE BOX list The unit supports AUTO DJ and JUKE BOX playback. 1. Press and hold JUKE BOX to enter the edit mode. JUKE BOX Playback (Program play) 2. Select a song by pressing JUKE BOX repeatedly or by pressing PRESET.FOLDER W/S. JUKE BOX function enables you to make a playlist of your favourite tracks/files from a disc or USB device. A playlist of up to 100 tracks/files can be entered for each media (CD, USB1,USB2). Possible to save a total of 300 tracks/files. Making JUKE BOX list It is supported only on stop status. 2. Select a track/file by pressing C/V on the remote control or Y/U on the unit. 3.Press JUKE BOX to save the track/file. 4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 to store the other tracks/ files. (You can modify the list by pressing PRESET.FOLDER W/S to select the JUKE BOX program number.) 5.Press JUKE BOX once again. To play the JUKE BOX list, press d/M after you make the list. Enjoying JUKE BOX Press JUKE BOX twice on stop status. “JUKE BOX ON” appears on the display window. To play JUKE BOX list, press d/M on the remote control or z on the unit. To cancel it, press JUKE BOX twice. “JUKE BOX OFF” appears on the display window. 3.Press DELETE while a song is selected. ,,Note yy To check the status of JUKE BOX, press JUKE BOX once. You can also check it by the word “PROG.” on the display window. yy If there is no JUKE BOX list, “JUKE BOX NONE” appears on the display window when you press JUKE BOX. yy JUKE BOX is switched off in the case below. -- Changing the function to the others. -- Turning off and on the unit. -- Operating the numeric buttons on the remote control. -- Playing a file by using FOLDER and FILE SEARCH on the unit. yy JUKE BOX list is cleared in the case below. -- Removing the disc or the USB device. -- Deleting or recording music files in the USB device. 3 Operating 1. Press and hold JUKE BOX to enter the edit mode. Deleting function is worked only on the edit mode. 20 Operating AUTO DJ playback Auto DJ blends the end of one song into the beginning of another for seamless playback. It equalizes volume across tracks/files for uninterrupted playback. Press AUTO DJ on the remote control or unit repeatedly, the display changes as followings. RANDOM (AUTO DJ RANDOM) -> REPEAT ALL (AUTO DJ SEQUENTIAL) -> (AUTO DJ OFF) Mode OFF 3 Display Window (AUTO DJ OFF) Description - Operating RANDOM RANDOM (AUTO DJ RANDOM) The music is played randomly on this mode. Operating Using a Bluetooth wireless technology About Bluetooth Bluetooth® is wireless communication technology for short range connection. The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave or you connect the bluetooth in the other rooms. Bluetooth Profiles In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, devices must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with following profile. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Listening to music stored on the Bluetooth devices Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in to your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again. 1. Select the Bluetooth function by using the FUNCTION on the remote control, FUNCTION knob on the unit or button on the unit. “BT READY” appears on the display window. 2. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this unit with the Bluetooth device, a list of the devices found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Be sure that both FM aerials are connected. (Refer to the page 15) 1. Tap “LG Bluetooth Remote” app icon on the home screen to open “LG Bluetooth Remote” app, and go to the main menu. Listening to the radio 2. Tap [Setting] and select the unit you want. 3. If you want to get more information to operate, tap [Setting] and [Help]. ,,Note 3 yy BT app will be available in the software version as follow; Operating -- Android O/S : Ver 2.3.3 (or later) yy This unit does not support the multi-pairing. Improving poor FM reception yy The connection you’ve made may be disconnected if you select other application or change the setting of the connected device via “LG Bluetooth Remote” app. In such a case, please check the connection status. yy After connection of LG Bluetooth remote app, music may be output from your device. In this case, try connecting procedure again. Press d/M on the remote control or z on the unit. This will change the tuner from stereo to mono and usually improve the reception. Operating 25 Presetting the Radio Stations You can preset 50 stations for FM. Before tuning, make sure to turn down the volume. 1.Press FUNCTION on the remote control or rotating FUNCTION knob on the unit until FM appears in the display window. 2.Press TUNING-/+ on the remote control or Y/U on the unit to select a desired frequency. 3.Press TUNER MEMORY. A preset number will blink in the display window. 4.Press PRESET.FOLDER W/S to select the preset number you want. 5.Press TUNER MEMORY. The station is stored. 7. To listen a preset station, press PRESET.FOLDER W/S or 0 to 9 numerical buttons. Deleting all the saved stations 1. Press and hold TUNER MEMORY for two seconds. “ERASE ALL?” will flash up on the unit display. 2.Press TUNER MEMORY to erase all the saved radio stations. The FM tuner is supplied with the RDS (Radio Data System) facility. This shows information about the radio station being listened to. Press RDS/SET on the remote control or DEMO/SET/RDS on the unit repeatedly to cycle through the various data types: PS (Programme Service Name) The name of the channel will appear in the display. PTY (Programme Type Recognition) The programme type (e.g. Jazz or News) will appear in the display. RT (Radio Text) A text message contains special information from the broadcast station. This text may scroll across the display. CT (Time controlled by the channel) This shows the time as broadcast by the station. You can search the radio stations by programme type by pressing RDS/SET on the remote control or DEMO/SET/RDS on the unit. The display will show the last PTY in use. Press PTY one or more times to select your preferred programme type. Press and hold TUNING -/+. The tuner will search automatically. When a station is found, the search will stop. 3 Operating 6. Displaying file information (ID3 TAG) 3 While playing an MP3 file containing file information, you can display the information by pressing INFO. Operating DEMO In the power off state, it demonstrates the function on display window with a demo sound and a display by pressing DEMO/SET/RDS. To cancel the DEMO, press it again. ,,Note yy While DEMO, this unit will keep DEMO status even if you unplug the power cord connection. yy You can enjoy other functions during the DEMO. The clock icon “(“ shows that the alarm is set. Sleep Timer Setting Press SLEEP repeatedly to select delay time between 10 and 180 minutes. After the delay time, the unit will be turned off. To cancel the sleep function, press SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP 10” appears, and then press SLEEP once again while “SLEEP 10” is displayed. ,,Note yy You can check the remaining time before the unit is turned off. yy Press SLEEP. Auto power down This unit will turn off itself to save electric consumption in the case were main unit is not connected to external device and is not used for 20 minutes. So does this unit after six hours since Main unit has been connected to other device using analogue input.
