Regional Code This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only DVD disc labeled same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”. -- VR mode, Video mode and finalized only -- Video mode and finalized only -- DVD+RW discs that contain Movie, Music or Photo files. Audio CD (8 cm / 12 cm disc) CD-R/RW (8 cm / 12 cm disc) CD-R/RW discs that contain audio titles, Movie, Music or Photo files. ,,Note • You have to set the disc format option to [Mastered] in order to make the discs compatible with the LG players when formatting rewritable discs. When setting the option to Live System, you cannot use it on LG player. Remove the battery cover on the rear of the Remote Control, and insert one R03 (size AAA) batteries with 4 and 5 matched correctly. OPTICAL Amplifier/ Receiver Audio Cable Rear of the Unit Rear of the Unit yy If your TV is not capable of handling 96 kHz sampling frequency, set the [Sample Freq.] option to [48 KHz] on the setup menu (See page 12). yy If your TV is not equipped with Dolby Digital and MPEG decoder, set the [Dolby Digital] and [MPEG] options to [PCM] on the setup menu (See page 12). Connecting Coaxial Cable Amplifier/ Receiver 2 3 12 System Setting System Setting Setup When the unit is turned-on at the first time, you have to select the desired language. (optional) Adjust the settings You can change the settings of the player in the [SETUP] menu. 1. Press SETUP. 2. Select the first setup option using ws and press d to move to the second level. 3 3. Select a second setup option using ws and press d to move to the third level. System Setting 4. Select a desired setting using ws and press ENTER to confirm. 5. Press SETUP to escape from setup menu. [LANGUAGE] Menu Menu Language/Disc Audio/Disc Subtitle/Disc Menu Select and set the language you prefer. [DISPLAY] Menu Progressive Scan Check whether your TV can accept the progressive signal. If your TV accepts it, you can enjoy accurate color with high quality by selecting [On]. If there is any error after setting to Progress Scan, you have to initialize the unit by pressing and holding STOP for five seconds. [AUDIO] Menu Set the player’s Audio options according to various disc output type you use. Dolby Digital / DTS / MPEG Select the type of digital audio signal to use the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack. [Bitstream]: Select to connect DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack to an amplifier with Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG decoder. [PCM] (for Dolby Digital / MPEG): Select to connect DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack to an amplifier without Dolby Digital or MPEG decoder. [Off] (for DTS): Select to connect DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack to an amplifier without DTS decoder. TV Aspect Sample Freq. (Frequency) Select and set TV aspect ratio according to your TV type and preference. Selects the sampling frequency of the audio signal between [48KHz] and [96KHz]. [4:3]: Standard TV type [16:9]: Wide TV type Display Mode Select and set Display Mode according to your preference. Display Mode works only when the TV Aspect mode is 4:3. [Panscan]: Display full screen with cut nonmain scene on TV [Letterbox]: Display wide screen with black stripe at top and bottom on TV System Setting DRC (Dynamic Range Control) [OTHERS] Menu To adjust the volume level by itself when Audio level reaches to more than the specific level (Dolby Digital only). B.L.E (Black Level Expansion) Vocal (DV640/DV642 only) To mix the vocal with music using the multichannel karaoke DVD. [LOCK] Menu Select [On] or [Off ] to expand the black level or not. It just operates when TV system is set to NTSC. REC Bitrate (DV642/DV647 only) To select bitrate when you record from Audio CD to USB directly. Higher bitrate gives better sound quality. For detailed recording method, see page 16. Score (DV641/DV647 only) Rating The score can be displayed after singing a song with microphone. Select [On] in Score to use this function. The score is displayed only when a chapter, title or track is fully finished. Fanfare sounds with the high score. Input the 4-digit password and press ENTER. Select the level from 1(Kids) to 8 (Adult). DivX VOD Change Password Input the former 4-digit password. Input the new 4-digit password and input it again to verify. If you forget the password Remove the disc. Input “210499” on Setup menu and press ENTER. The password will be cleared. Area Code To input the standardized area code refer to the Area Code List on page 18. ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX® is a digital video format created by DivX, Inc. This is an ò cial DivX Certified® device that plays DivX video. Visit divx.com for more information and software tools to convert your files into DivX video. ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX Certified® device must be registered in order to play purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies. To obtain your registration code, locate the DivX VOD section in your device setup menu. Go to vod.divx. com for more information on how to complete your registration. [Register]: Displays the registration code of your unit. [Deregister]: Deactivate your unit and display the deactivation code. 3 System Setting Move to [Area Code] by pressing d. Press ENTER after input the 4-digit password. Input the same 4-digit with password again to verify and press ENTER. The Rating and Password menu will be activated. 13 4 14 Operating Operating On-Screen display General Playback You can display and adjust various information onscreen about the loaded disc and USB Device. Playing Disc Displaying content information on-screen ry 1. Press DISPLAY to see the various playback information. 2. Select an available contents by pressing wsad and ENTER. 3. Change an available content by pressing the numerical button and ENTER. 4. Press DISPLAY to escape from playback information. 4 1. Press B, and place a disc on the disc tray. 2. Press B to close the disc tray. 3. Press z to play the file. DVD disc will be automatically loaded. Playing Karaoke Disc (DV641/DV647 only) 1. Insert a Karaoke Disc and connect the microphone to the MIC jack. 2. Press the KARAOKE button and select [ON] to activate the microphone. Operating Current title number/total number of titles 3. Playing USB Device (DV642/DV647 only) 1. Connect the USB device. 2. Change to the USB mode by pressing RETURN. 3. Select the desired file. 4. Press z to play the file. Last Scene Memory This unit can memorize and play the lastly viewed scene even if disc is inserted again after removal or unit is turned on after off with same disc. (DVD/ACD only) System Select Press and hold M for 5 seconds to select a PAL, NTSC or AUTO mode. yy DVD: CHAPTER/ TITLE /REPEAT Off yy MOVIE: Track/ All/Off Repeat a specific portion Press A-B to beginning and end points desired repeatedly. If you want to delete undesired list, yy One file: Select the file and press CLEAR yy All file: Select [Clear All] and press ENTER 4 Operating Display file information (ID3 Tag) While playing a MP3 file containing file information, the information is displayed by pressing DISPLAY repeatedly. Record the Audio CD to USB device (DV642/DV647 only) Insert Audio CD and USB Device, and then AUDIO Ripping will be displayed on screen. Press AUDIO, and then recording will be started. Recording speed can be adjusted as X1 or X4 by pressing AUDIO repeatdly. yy X1: Played back during recording yy X4: Non-played back during recording yy Recording of one track: Playback, pause, or resume stop mode yy Recording of all tracks: Stop mode If you want to stop recording, press STOP. Plug the power cord. The unit does not start playback. An unplayable disc is inserted. Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type and regional code.) The rating level is set. Change the rating level. The remote control does not work properly. The remote control is not pointed at the remote sensor on the unit. Point the remote control at the remote sensor of the unit. The remote control is too far from the unit. Operate the remote control closer to the unit. Poor picture quality and sound distortion Fingerprints and dust is stained on the disc. Wipe the disc from the center to out with a clean cloth. Do not use strong solvents (alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners) No picture The TV is not set to receive the signal from the unit. Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV. The video cable is not connected securely Connect the video cable securely. The equipment connected with the audio cable is not set to receive the signal from the unit. Select the correct input mode of the audio amplifier. The AUDIO options are set to the wrong position.
