What is a Digital Recorder?
■ Output Monitoring of External Devices
It is a compact sized device that can record and save large amounts of
music on a memory chip without using a tape.
When you connect your Voice yepp to an external device, you can monitor the output of
the device and select a specific track for recording at an accurate level by setting up the
Monitor function.

■ TTS Function
With the Text-to-Speech (TTS) program that converts text into voice, you can listen
to a text file on a PC as the program converts it into a voice file.
■ File Download Into a PC
You can download not only voice and MP3 files to your Voice yepp, but all files saved
in your PC as well. You can use it as a removable disk drive, as all files saved in
your Voice yepp (other than MP3 files) can be uploaded to another PC.
■ Microphone/Recording Mode Selection
You can select the input level of the microphone, depending on the distance to the
sound source and the surrounding noise levels.
The power is automatically turned off when the product is not in use for longer than 3
minutes.
■ Management of Recording Folders
You can record in five separate voice folders (A, B, C, D and E). MP3 files can only be
played when saved in the MP3 folder.
■ Intro Scan Function
You can quickly search through many recordings by scanning each recording for 10
seconds.
■ Voice Editing and E-mailing Functions
When connected to a PC you can edit recordings and send using the Voice yepp player program.
■ VOR (Voice Operating Record) Function
You can set the product to activate when a sound or voice is detected.
■ Repeated Play Function
You can select specific tracks for repeated play.

Inserting Batteries

To Activate Recording
Slide the REC switch in the direction of the arrow during a telephone conversation.
● Recording will commence.
● Pushing the REC switch in the direction of the arrow when the power is off may
take a while to activate recording.
To End Recording
● Recordings will not be deleted when changing batteries.
● Battery life may significantly vary depending on the type and duration of
play and volume.
Slide the REC switch in the opposite direction that you had pushed for recording.
● Recording will stop and be automatically saved.
● The quality of the recorded sound may vary depending on the
type of telephone and the voice of the other party.

Connecting Voice yepp to a PC
Using with a PC
When the installation CD is inserted in the CD-ROM drive, the CD will run
automatically and the following display will appear.
You can copy recordings from your Voice yepp to a PC or vice versa by using the Voice yepp
program and installing a USB driver. You can also record, play and edit recordings on these
devices and transmit voice files attached to e-mails.

Downloading/Uploading files
Using the Voice yepp player
Double click the Voice yepp player 2004 icon on the desktop to open the program.
1. Turn on the Voice yepp and connect it to a PC
2. Open Windows Explorer on the PC.
3. Select a file to save, then drag and drop the file
in the folder of your choice.
Volume
● To save in Voice yepp, drag and drop the file in folder
A, B, C, D, E or MP3 inside the ‘removable disk
directory’.

Notes for Downloading or Uploading Files
● “USB WRITE/READ” is displayed on the main body during uploading or downloading.
When complete, “USB STD-BY” will be displayed. Disconnect the USB cable when “USB STD-BY”
is displayed.
● When your Voice yepp is connected to a PC that runs with Windows 2000 or later, the icon to
delete a drive (
) will appear in the lower part of the task bar. For Windows 2000 or later
versions, run this program before you disconnect the USB cable.
● Name files using the format: ‘Voice01’, ‘Voice02’, • • • ‘Voice99’ when you download a voice file
into folders A, B, C, D or E in Voice yepp, as Voice yepp can only recognize files using this name
format.
● Download only files with the .VY extension in folders A, B, C, D or E in Voice yepp, and files
with the .mp3 extension in the MP3 folder. Voice yepp cannot recognize files with other
extensions.
● Sort files before downloading, if possible, as the downloaded files are automatically re-sorted and
saved when you disconnect the USB cable from your Voice yepp after downloading .VY files.
(e.g. files named ‘Voice02’, ‘Voice03’, ‘Voice10’ will be automatically saved as ‘Voice01’, ‘Voice02’,
and ‘Voice03’ respectively.)
● The maximum number of MP3 files to be recognized for downloading is 250.
Any more than this number can be downloaded but cannot be played.

Opening a File
Press the Open button in the main window and the File Open dialog box will appear as shown below.
● When opening the file, click the voice file to automatically move to VOICE MODE.
Double click the Voice yepp player 2004 icon on the desktop to open the program.
Click the VOICE MODE button and a picture will appear as shown below.

● You can use this product as an additional storage device in Windows Explorer as it is
recognized as a removable disk. You can therefore save any file as well as voice or music
files in this product, just as you would save them

● Select a voice file to attach to the e-mail by pressing the Open button.
● After selecting a file, press the E-mailing button in the main window.

click on the slider.
● When the Select Section message appears, press the [Start Point].
4. After playing back the voice file again, press the Pause ( » ) button at the end
point of the area you want to cut, and right click on the slider.
● When the Select Section message appears, press the [End Point].
5. Press the Delete Selected Area button.
6. To save, press the Save button in the Save As dialog box.
● All tracks selected for deletion will be deleted and the
remainder will be saved as a .VY file.

Click the Record button and the record mode window will appear as shown below.

Select a folder, type in the file name, and press the Save button to complete.
.VY1, .VY2, .VY3 etc. are the names of voice recording files.
● To send mail, click the Send Voice Mail button.

1. When the WAV Converter window appears, select the Voice file you want and press
the Open button or double-click it.
2. When the name of file you selected appears, press the Convert button.
● Selected file will be converted to WAV file.
3. When conversion is finished, press the Save button to save the WAV file.
● To continue to convert, press the Open button to select a new Voice file.
To Convert WAV file to Voice file
1. When the WAV Converter window appears, select the WAV file you want and
press the Open button or double-click it.
2. When the name of file you selected appears, press the Convert button.
● Specific WAV file may not be converted.
Be careful since conversion over 2 times may damage the sound quality.
3. When the Select Mode window appears, select the mode you want among LP, SP
and HQ, and press the OK button.
● Selected file will be reconverted to the Voice file.
4. When the conversion is completed, press the Save button to save the Voice file.
● To continue to convert, press the Open button to select a new WAV file.
If it is the WAV file that is converted from the Voice file recorded in SHQ mode, it can
be reconverted to SHQ mode only.

The Text-to-Speech (TTS) System converts text information into voice
information.
When receiving text input from the user, the computer analyzes it and
reads it out naturally in a human voice. This will be of great help for
learning foreign languages.
● TTS FILEs (TS3) can only be played in an MP3 folder.

Voice Recording
You can record voices by using the built-in microphone or an external microphone.
1. Press and hold the MENU button to move to the Menu mode, and then select
the FOLDER using ❙œœ , √√❙ button.
● Whenever you press the √», ■ button, the folder will be changed in the order of A, B, C, D, E, MP3.
Select the folder you want among A, B, C, D, E.

The recording number and time will appear and recording will commence.
The recording numbers are assigned in sequential order. Each folder can save up to 99 files.
Recording within the MP3 folder will automatically move the recording to Folder A.
If there are 99 files already in Folder A, the recording will automatically move to Folder B.
● Point the microphone toward the source of sound when recording.
Playing a File
1. Press and hold the MENU button to move to the Menu mode, and then
select the FOLDER using ❙œœ , √√❙ button.
● Whenever you press the √», ■ button, the folder will be changed in the order of A, B, C, D, E,
MP3. Select the folder of your choice.
2. Press the MENU button to exit the Menu mode and use the ❙œœ , √√❙ button to
select the file to play back.
3. Press the Play/Pause ( √» ) button.
● Play will commence and the playing time will be displayed.
4. To stop playing, press the Stop ( ■ ) button.
To Pause the Playing
● By connecting the earphones during recording, you can listen to the recording as it occurs.
Press the Play/Pause ( √» ) button.
To Stop Recording
Slide the REC switch in the opposite direction for recording.
● Recording will stop and be saved automatically.
● The playing will be paused.
● When the power is turned off in the Pause mode, switch the power on and press the
Play/Pause ( √» ) button to play from the point where the unit had been turned off.
To view the remaining recording time
Press and hold the MENU button to move to the Menu mode and then select the
REC using ❙œœ , √√❙ button.
● The time available for further recording within the current recording mode will be displayed.

● INDEX FULL: 99 files are saved in all folders from A to E.
● MEMORY FULL: Display the status when all memories are used.
● WRITE: the voice file is currently being saved in the memory.
To Play a Specific Track
● If you press and hold the ❙œœ , √√❙ button during playback, you can move backward
or forward in the file played to find the area you want.
Release the button you hold to play the file in normal status.
● The longer you press the ❙œœ , √√❙ button, the faster the searching speed gets.

1. Move to DELETE MODE in the Menu mode, and then press the √» button to
select the DELETE FOLDER.

Intro Scan Function
LCD LIGHT
Since the front parts of all music files or recording files are played back for 10 seconds
only, you can easily check the contents of saving.
1. In the Menu mode, use the ❙œœ , √√❙ button to select the I-SCAN.
2. Press the √» or ■ button to select OFF or ON.

A, B, C, D, E.
● You can select any function while in Stop Mode.
● Only Speed Control, Repeat and Intro Scan functions are enabled while in Play Mode.

Microphone Mode
You can adjust the input volume of the microphone depending on the distance to the
sound source and surrounding noise levels.

Intro Scan, LCD Light, Beep and Repeat functions.
● In Stop mode, the Menu Mode will close if no buttons are pressed within 15 seconds.

Book Mark Function
What is VOR (Voice Operating Record)?
It is a voice activated recording function where recording is activated when there is a
sound, and pauses when there is no sound.
You can mark a voice file that contains an important message.
1. In the Menu mode, use the ❙œœ , √√❙ button to select the VOR.
2. In the Menu mode, use the ❙œœ , √√❙ button to select the B-MARK.
2. Press the √» or ■ button to select OFF or ON.

● VOR ON: to pause recording automatically when

Adjusting the Speed of Play
You can set the play speed of voice file. This function is available only when the voice file is selected.

● Normal recording will be disabled when recording with an external audio device in an
external Microphone mode (EXT. MIC mode).
● You can select the External Device Connection function in the Menu after connecting
external mike or sound device.
● The speed of play can be adjusted by 5% increments from the
basic speed (00%) up to -60% ~ +60%.
● The higher the number, the faster the speed of play, and the
lower the number, the slower the speed of play.
● The speed of play will automatically be set to normal when the power is turned off or
the battery is replaced.
