General description of refrigerator and freezer operation
This appliance is a refrigerator combined with a
star rating electronically controlled freezer. It
therefore allows separate adjustment of the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer compartment.
The NO FROST freezer compartment
enables perfect freezing of fresh and cooked food, the
production of ice cubes and storing of frozen and deep frozen food. Defrosting is automatic.
The refrigerator compartment, equipped with automatic defrost, enables the storage of fresh food
and beverages.
Optimum performance depends on the climatic class indicated on the rating plate.
Sensor Function (also called “Sixth sense” or “Dynamic Intelligence”)
The appliance is fitted with an electronic control system that works on both compartments to minimize
the times for the recovery of the correct food preservation temperatures even in case of opening of the
door and introduction of new food.
“Vacation” Option
The electronic control allows the freezer compartment to be left on with the refrigerator compartment
switched off.
To activate this function, with the appliance on, press the button (5) for 3 seconds until the refrigerator
compartment display (7) goes off and the green light (6) comes on; the freezer display (4) will remain on.
For technical reasons, the freezer compartment cannot be switched off with only the refrigerator
compartment switched on.
Switching off the appliance (refrigerator and freezer)
Press the button (1) for 3 seconds. In this way the appliance switches off, although remaining powered.
The inside light and all the LEDs on the control panel will go off, except for the Vacation light (6) and the
displays (4) and (7), which will show: “- -” “- -”.
To reactivate the appliance operation, press the same button again for 3 seconds.
Control panel lock
To avoid accidental selections (keys pressed by contact with packets and/or food, or by children), the
control panel can be locked by pressing the keys (8) and (9) at the same time for 3 seconds. An acoustic
signal will indicate activation of the function.
With the “Control Panel Lock” function activated, the entire control panel will be locked except for the
Acoustic Alarm key (11). An acoustic signal will sound and the message “CL” will appear on (4) and (7)
display whenever and for the entire time the key is pressed.
To unlock the control panel, proceed as above, pressing the same keys at the same time for 3 seconds.
7
Using the refrigerator compartment
Switching the appliance on and temperature adjustment
Switch the power to the appliance on.
If you have purchased a model with antibacterial filter, the filter should be fitted in place now. (refer to
“Maintenance and cleaning” of the appliance). The ideal temperatures for preserving foods are already
factory set.
When the appliance is switched on for the first time, the acoustic signal sounds and the red light (10)
flashes, indicating that the temperature inside the freezer is still not cold enough for introducing food. The
acoustic signal can be deactivated by pressing the button (11) on the control panel. Place food in the
freezer only when the red alarm light has gone off.
Note:
• 4-5 hours are required for the refrigerator compartment to reach a temperature suitable for storage.
• Ambient temperature, frequency of door opening and position of the appliance can affect the
temperature inside the two compartments. These factors should be taken into account when setting
the thermostat position.
• The space between the shelves and the rear wall of the refrigerator ensures the free circulation of air.
• Do not place food in direct contact with the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment.
• Do not place hot food in the compartments.
• Store liquids in closed containers.
• Storing vegetables with high water content can cause condensation to form: this does not affect correct
appliance operation.
Storing food in the refrigerator compartment
Place the food as shown in the figure.
1. Cooked food
2. Fish, meat
3. Fruit & vegetables
4. Bottles
5. Butter
6. Dairy products, cheese
Temperature adjustment
The temperature is factory set to +5°C (display 7). To
change the temperature setting, press the buttons (8) or (9)
on the control panel, until the required value is obtained.
Settable temperature limit:
• +2 °C coldest temperature
• +8 °C warmest temperature
Automatic “Sensor” Function (also called “6th Sense”
or “Dynamic Intelligence”)
When this function is activated, the green light (16) is on. Once the correct temperature has been
reached, the light will go off automatically.
Switching the refrigerator off (Vacation)
Press the button (5) for more than 3 seconds. The temperature shown on the display (7) goes off and the
green light (6) comes on. To reactivate the refrigerator operation, press the same button (5) for more than
3 seconds.
Refrigerator compartment alarms
The acoustic alarm is activated when the door has been left open for more than 1 minute. If the door is
left open for another minute, the inside light will start flashing and will switch off after the door has been
open for 10 minutes, whereas the acoustic alarm will remain activated.
Pressing the Acoustic Alarm button (11) will only silence the acoustic signal, whereas the inside light will
continue to behave as described above.
To completely deactivate the door open alarm, close the refrigerator door.
8
Using the freezer compartment
The NO FROST freezer compartment has a
star rating. It can be used to store frozen
foods for the period of time indicated on the food packaging. The freezer can also be used to
freeze fresh food by placing it on the upper rack or drawer, while the already frozen food
should be stored in the other drawers, thus avoiding any contact with food that is still to be
frozen. The quantity of fresh food that can be frozen in a 24 hour period is given on the rating
plate.
Temperature adjustment
The temperature is factory set at - 18°C (display 4).To change the temperature setting, press the buttons
(2) or (3) on the control panel until the required value is obtained.
Settable temperature limit:
• - 17°C least cold temperature
• -24°C coldest temperature
Fast Freeze function (also called “Extra Load”, “Super” or “Fast Freezing”)
Activate the fast freezing function by pressing the button (13) on the control panel 24 hours before placing
a large amount of fresh food in the freezer; The food will then freeze in the quickest possible time.
The function is activated when the yellow light (12) is on.
The “Extra” function is automatically deactivated after 48 hours.
In any case, the function can be manually deactivated by pressing the same button again (the yellow light
(12) goes off).
Important
• Wrap and seal the fresh food to be frozen in: Aluminium foil, transparent film, waterproof plastic wrap,
polyethylene containers with lids and suitable freezer containers.
• Arrange the food to be frozen in the top drawer or on the top shelf, leaving sufficient space around the
packs for the air to circulate freely.
Important: for frozen fresh food storage times comply with the opposite table.
When purchasing frozen food products:
• Make sure the packaging is not damaged, since food can
deteriorate. If a packet is swollen or has damp patches, it
has not been stored in optimum conditions and may have
begun to thaw.
• Purchase frozen food last and use thermal bags to carry it.
• Place frozen foods in the freezer compartment as soon as
you get home.
• Do not refreeze partially thawed food: Consume it within
24 hours.
• Avoid, or reduce temperature variations to the minimum.
• Respect the expiry date given on the package.
• Always follow the instructions given on the package for
storing frozen foods.

Using the freezer compartment
Freezer compartment alarms
Freezer compartment temperature alarm
When the appliance is working or during the freezing phase, the red warning light (10) may come on in
conjunction with an acoustic signal, indicating that the freezer compartment temperature is not optimum
for food storage.
This can occur in the following cases:
• during start-up;
• when the appliance is switched on again after defrosting and cleaning;
• when too much food is placed in the freezer;
• when the freezer door does not close properly
To deactivate the acoustic signal press the button (11).
The red light (10) will automatically go off when optimum temperature conditions are reached.
Power failure alarm
If a temperature value flashes in the freezer display (4), the light (14) flashes, the acoustic signal sounds and
the temperature adjustment keys are locked, it means that a power failure has occurred for a period long
enough not to guarantee maintenance of the correct storage temperature.
The value shown on the display gives the highest temperature reached by the freezer compartment. To
eliminate the alarm and restore control panel operation, press the "Acoustic Alarm" button (11) and check
the food, because the compartment temperature has risen above -9°C (temperature limit for correct food
preservation).
Note:
The freezer compartment can maintain a suitable temperature for preserving food even in case of a power
failure. In any case, it is advisable to avoid opening the compartment door during such periods.
Removing the baskets
Pull the drawers out as far as they go, then lift slightly and remove.
Note:
The freezer can also be used without drawers, in order to obtain a larger space. Arrange food on the
racks.
After introducing the food make sure the freezer compartment door closes properly.
Making ice cubes
• Fill the ice cube tray up to 2/3 with water and place in the freezer compartment.
• Do not use sharp or pointed objects to detach the tray if it is stuck to the bottom of the freezer grill or
drawers.
• Bend the ice tray slightly to facilitate removal of the cubes.
10

Cleaning the refrigerator compartment
Refrigerator compartment defrosting is completely automatic.
Droplets of water on the rear wall inside the refrigerator compartment indicate that the automatic defrost
phase is in progress. The defrost water is automatically run into a drain hole and collected in a container,
where it evaporates.
Clean the defrost water drain hole regularly using the tool supplied, in order to ensure the constant and
correct flow of defrost water.
To clean the refrigerator compartment:
1. Press the button (1) on the control panel for 3 seconds and disconnect the appliance from the power
supply.
2. Empty the refrigerator compartment.
3. Clean the inside of the refrigerator with a sponge soaked in a solution of lukewarm water and/or mild
detergent. Do not use abrasive substances.

prevent the formation of mould, odours and oxidation.
11
Maintenance and cleaning
Fan and antibacterial filter (if fitted):
The refrigerator compartment is fitted with a fan, light and antibacterial filter module (if applicable). The
fan ensures a better distribution of the temperature inside the refrigerator compartment, with a better
preservation of the food.
The antibacterial filter ensures a high level of hygiene inside the refrigeration compartment through a
continuous purification of the air. The filter has a life span of 6 months and after this period will need to be
replaced. An acoustic alarm and the flashing of the red warning light (15) will warn that the filter is no
longer effective. To disable the acoustic alarm press the "Acoustic alarm" button (11). The red light will
however stay on. Filter replacements can be obtained from the Customer Service Centres. The procedure
to replace the filter is explained on the packing.
After replacing the filter press the “Acoustic alarm” button (11) for at least 3 second. The system will be
reset to the initial condition and the red warning light (15) will go off. The warning to replace the filter will
come on at six month intervals.
Replacement of the filter is not covered by warranty.
Important:
The fan will only operate when the compressor is on. Do not obstruct the “Suction Zone”.
