Frequently asked questions

The MDX-U1/OTHERS switch is used to determine whether the MDX-40 is being used as the main unit or as a secondary unit. When using the MDX-U1 model as the main unit, the switch should be set to the MDX-U1 position. When using other models than MDX-U1 as the main unit, the switch should be set to the OTHERS position.

The MDX-40 can be installed under the seat using either double-sided adhesive tapes or floor mounting brackets. If using double-sided adhesive tapes, remove the brown paper and attach the tape to the bottom of the MD changer. Then, attach the changer to the carpet. If using floor mounting brackets, remove the factory-installed screws and install them with the brackets. Place the changer onto the brackets and decide the installing position, then stick the brackets to the floor. Remove the MD changer.

The MDX-40 is connected in the same way as a CD changer. For details, refer to the respective Installation/Connections manuals.

If your main unit has a MiniDisc button, simply press it to start playing. If your main unit does not have a MiniDisc button, press the CD button to start playing. The unit will then operate in the same way as when playing CDs.

If you are using a main unit with custom file function or the MDX-U1 or MDX-100 together with a CD changer that has the custom file function, you can put titles onto MDs. After entering the name edit mode, the first eight characters of the disc title stored on the MD will be displayed and you can change them as desired. Having registered the new disc title, it is also possible to change the settings of the bank function and the DSP custom file function
