This means that with your specific model, some accessories may not be included. In order to ensure the best results, always use original Electrolux accessories. They have been designed especially for your vacuum cleaner. WARNING: Turbo nozzles* have a rotating brush in which parts may become entrapped. Please use them with caution and only on intended surfaces. Please turn the vacuum cleaner off before removing entrapped parts or cleaning the brush. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Always disconnect the plug from the power outlet before cleaning or maintaining the appliance. Never use the vacuum cleaner without its filters. On collection of proprietary carpet conditioning powder, it is recommended that the dust bag is thrown and the filter is cleaned after each use. Some of the preparations contain substances which if left in the vacuum cleaner for extended periods, could cause damage. Many air fresheners, household deodorants, sprays and polishes contain highly inflammable gas propellants, because of this, it is particularly important that these products are used strictly in accordance with the relevant manufacturers’ instructions, it is essential that none of the above products are sprayed directly into the vacuum cleaner or any of the filters, hose assembly or dust chamber. Never use vacuum cleaner • Close to flammable gases, etc. • On sharp objects • On hot or cold cinders, lit cigarette butts, etc. • On fine dust, for instance plaster, concrete, flour. Power cord precautions • Regularly check that the plug and cord are not damaged. Never use the vacuum cleaner if the cord is damaged. • If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced only by an authorized Electrolux service centre in order to avoid a hazard. Damage to the vacuum cleaner’s cord is not covered by the warranty. • Never pull or lift the vacuum cleaner by the cord. The above can cause serious damage to the motor or the vacuum, which is not covered by the warranty. This vacuum cleaner is for domestic use only. All servicing and repairs must be performed by an authorized Electrolux service centre. Store the vacuum cleaner in a dry place. * Accessories may vary from model to model. Caution This appliance contains electrical connections: • Never vacuum any liquid • Do not immerse in any liquid for cleaning • The hose should be checked regularly and must not be used if damaged. 5 BEFORE STARTING 1 a B A A B 1 b C D 2 1b 1a 3 2 4 3 5 4 Insert the hose into the hose handle until the catches click to engage (press the catches to release the hose). 5 Extend the electric cable and connect to the power outlet. The vacuum cleaner is fitted with a cable winder. Press the foot pedal to rewind the cable (take hold of the plug to prevent it striking you). Press the On/Off button with the foot to start the vacuum cleaner. Adjust suction power using the suction control on the vacuum cleaner or the suction control on the hose handle. Then open the front cover on the machine and check that the dust bag, s-bag®, and the motor filter are in place. Fold up the carrying handle until it clicks into place. Then open the back lid on the machine and check that the exhaust filter is in place. Insert the hose until the catches click to engage (press the catches to release the hose). Attach the extension tubes or telescopic tube (certain models only) to the hose handle and hard floor nozzle by pushing and twisting together. (Twist and pull apart to dismantle.) GETTING THE BEST RESULTS Use nozzles as follows: Carpets and hardfloors: For carpets use the combination floor nozzle* with lever in position (1) For Hard floors, use the combination floor nozzle with lever in position (2). Make sure the brushes on the nozzle are down to prevent scratching the floor surface. Reduce suction power for short pile small carpets. 1 2 Wooden floors: Use the parquet nozzle* (3). 4 Curtains 5 Bookshelves, upholstery Crevices, corners, etc.: Use the crevice nozzle* (6). Using the turbo nozzle* 7 Ideal for carpets and wall-to-wall carpeting to remove stubborn fluff and pet hairs. Note: Do not use the turbo nozzle on animal skin rugs or carpet fringes. To avoid damaging the carpet, do not keep the nozzle stationary whilst the brush is rotating. Do not pass the nozzle across electric cables, and be sure to switch off the vacuum cleaner immediately after use. 3* * Certain models only. 4 6* 5 7 7 REPLACING THE DUST BAG, S-bag® 1 A B 2 3 4 1 2 3 5 a 5 b The dust bag, s-bag® must be replaced latest when the indicator window is completely red. Read with the nozzle lifted up. Open the dust compartment cover. Lift out the s-bag® holder. Pull the cardboard to remove the s-bag® from the insert. This automatically seals the s-bag® and prevents dust leaking out. Insert a new s-bag® by pushing the cardboard right into the end of the groove in the insert Place the dust bag holder back into the dust compartment and close the lid. Always change the s-bag® when the indicator signal is illuminated even if the s-bag® is not full (it may be blocked) and after using carpet cleaning powder. Use only Electrolux original synthetic s-bag®. www.s-bag.com 4 5a 5b 6-11 Replacing the motor filter (Ref No. EF1) Should be done with every 5th replacement of the s-bag® dust bag. Never use the vacuum cleaner without a filter. Cleaning /replacing the exhaust filter: Replace (or wash) the exhaust filter every year. There are two types of exhaust filters: • Micro filter (Ref No. EF17 this type of filter can not be washed and must be replaced with a new one.) • HEPA H12 Washable (Ref No. EFH 12W) 6 7 8 12 To replace the exhaust filter, open the exhaust filter lid by pulling the back edge upwards. Replace the filter. 14 Close the lid inserting the front hooks into the rails. Push the lid forward and press down in the centre until both sides click in. 9 10 11 Cleaning the HEPA H12 Washable Filter* If you have a HEPA H12 Washable exhaust filter*, wash the filter once a year. If the filter is damaged, replace it with a new filter. 13 To clean the HEPA H12 Washable filter*, rinse the inside (dirty side) in lukewarm tap water. Tap the filter frame to remove the water. Repeat the process four times. Let dry thoroughly and then reinsert into the cleaner as above. Note: Do not use cleaning agents and avoid touching the filter surface. Let the filter dry completely before putting back! 12 8 13 14 * Certain models only. CLEANING THE HOSE AND NOZZLE The vacuum cleaner loses suction if the nozzle, tube, hose or filters and s-bag® becomes blocked. In such cases, disconnect from power outlet and allow to cool for 20-30 minutes. Clear blockage and/or replace filters and s-bag® and restart. Tubes and hoses 1 Use a cleaning strip or similar to clear the tubes and hose. 2 Hose handle can be dismantled from hose if cleaning is needed. 1 3 It may also be possible to remove the obstruction in the hose by squeezing it. However, be careful in case the obstruction is caused by glass or needles caught inside the hose. Note: The warranty does not cover any damage to the hose caused by cleaning it. Cleaning the floor nozzle 2 4 Be sure to frequently clean the combination floor nozzle. Remove dust-balls, hair or other objects that may be entangled. Larger objects can be accessed by removing the connection tube from the nozzle. Cleaning the turbo nozzle (certain models only) 5 Disconnect the nozzle from the vacuum cleaner tube and remove entangled threads, etc. by snipping them away with scissors. Use the hose handle to clean the nozzle. 3 4 5 9 TROUBLESHOOTING AND CONSUMER INFORMATION Troubleshooting The vacuum cleaner does not start • Check that the cable is connected to the power outlet. • Check that the plug and cable are not damaged. • Check for a blown fuse. The vacuum cleaner loses suction • Check if the dust bag, s-bag® is full. If it is, replace it. • Check that there are no blockages in the nozzle, tube, hose or filters. The cleaner stops • The cleaner might be overheated: disconnect it from the power outlet; check if the nozzle, tube or hose are blocked. Let the cleaner cool down for 30 minutes before plugging it in again. • If the cleaner still does not work, contact an authorized Electrolux service centre. Water has entered the vacuum cleaner It will be necessary to replace the motor at an authorized Electrolux service centre. Damage to the motor caused by the penetration of water is not covered by the warranty. For any further problems, contact an authorized Electrolux service centre.
