, If the instructions on the fabric label differ from this guide, follow the instructions
on the label.
X FILLING
3 You may use the iron with tap-water, but if you live in a hard water area, you should
use distilled water (not chemically descaled or softened water).
4 If you buy distilled water, check that it’s marketed as suitable for use in irons.
5 Unplug the iron.
6 Set the temperature control to •, set the steam control to S.
7 Lift the sides of the water inlet cover to open it.
8 Tilt the iron till the cover is vertical.
9 Pour slowly, to let the air in the reservoir escape, otherwise you’ll cause an air lock
and the water will overflow.
10 Don’t fill past max, or water will escape in use.
11 Wipe up any spillage.
C SWITCH ON
12
13
14
15
16
Set the temperature control to •, set the steam control to S.
Sit the iron on its heel.
Put the plug into the power socket (switch the socket on, if it’s switchable).
Turn the temperature control to bring the setting you want next to the 9 mark.
The light will come on.
3
17 When the iron reaches the temperature you set, the light will go off. It’ll then cycle
on and off as the thermostat operates to maintain the temperature.
C REDUCING TEMPERATURE
18 This takes a bit longer, as the iron has to lose the heat it has built up, so be patient.
It’s best to organise your ironing so that you don’t need to reduce the temperature.
S STEAM IRONING
19 When steam ironing, you must set the temperature control at S or higher.
20 If you don’t, you’ll get water on your clothes, not steam.
21 Set the steam control to the setting you want, S = no steam, # = high steam.
22 Wait till the light goes out, then start ironing.
* SPRAY
, Water spotting affects some fabrics. Test this out on a hidden part of the fabric.
23 This works with dry or steam ironing, as long as there’s water in the reservoir.
24 Check that there’s water in the reservoir.
25 Lift the iron off the fabric.
26 Aim the spray nozzle at the fabric.
27 Press the * button – you may have to press it 2 or 3 times to pump water through
the system.
S SHOT OF STEAM

the temperature is above S.
29 Check that there’s water in the reservoir.
30 Check that the temperature control is at S or higher.
31 Lift the iron off the fabric.
32 Press the ~ button – you may have to press it 2 or 3 times to pump water through
the system.
33 Leave 4 seconds between shots, to let the temperature build up.
n DRY IRONING
34 If you’re going to be dry ironing for 20 minutes or more, empty the reservoir first, to
avoid spontaneous bursts of steam.
35 Set the steam control to S.
36 Wait till the light goes out, then start ironing.
m VERTICAL STEAMING
37 Remove wrinkles from hanging clothes, hanging curtains, and furnishing fabrics.
38 Check that there’s adequate ventilation behind the fabric, otherwise moisture may
build up, causing mildew.
39 Check that there’s nothing behind the fabric that may be damaged by the steam.
40 Check that pockets, turn-ups, and cuffs are empty.
41 Check that there’s water in the reservoir.
42 Set the temperature control to max, set the steam control to S.
43 Hold the iron close to (but not touching) the fabric.
44 Press the ~ button (you’re using the “shot of steam” function vertically).
45 You may have to press it 2 or 3 times to pump water through the system.
46 Leave 4 seconds between shots, to let the temperature build up.
4
C AFTER USE
47 Set the temperature control to •, set the steam control to S.
48 Unplug the iron.
49 Open the cover.
50 Hold the iron over a sink, turn it upside down, and drain the water from the reservoir.

52 Leave it to cool down completely.
53 When it’s cold, wipe off any moisture, and close the water inlet cover.
54 Clean the outside surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth.
55 Remove spots from the soleplate with a little vinegar.
56 Store the iron on its heel, to avoid corrosion and damage to the soleplate.
C SELF CLEAN
57 To prevent scale building up, use the self clean function at least monthly in normal
water areas, more often in hard water areas.
, Products returned under guarantee with faults due to scale will be subject to a
repair charge.
58 You’ll need a basin or a large bowl to catch the water coming out of the soleplate.
59 Fill the reservoir to the max mark.
60 Set the temperature control to max. Set the steam control to S.
61 Sit the iron on its heel.
62 Put the plug into the power socket.
