When you first run the App, it will ask for authorization to access certain data or functions, such as
microphone or SD card storage. This way you can control permissions for individual Apps.

If you suspect the App of being malicious or asking for unnecessary permissions, you should choose
Deny to protect your device.

If you choose Deny in the trusted App, you may not able to use the App or access its full functionality.
In this case, please go to Settings to change the App permissions.

Chapter
1. Introduction
The MobileFocus (Plus), designed by EverFocus, is the application for users to remotely access
EverFocus’ DVRs, NVRs, IP Cameras and CMS (Genie XMS Servers) on their iOS or Android
handheld devices. Users can easily download the application from Apple Store or Android Play
Store.
The MobileFocus (Plus) applications not only feature a stylish user interface which gives a better
clarity and simplicity, but also provide several functions such as live views, playback, local
recording and device data backup through QR Code. The MobileFocus (Plus) applications will
definitely take your remote monitoring via mobile device to a next level.

Chapter
2. iPhone & iPod touch
MobileFocus (free version) and MobileFocus Plus are designed for iPhone and iPod touch and can
be downloaded from the App Store.
2.1 Installation
1. To download the MobileFocus (Plus), tap the App Store.
2. Type “MobileFocus by EverFocus” or “MobileFocus Plus by EverFocus” in the search field and
tap the Install button.



3. After installation process is completed, tap the Open button to start.
4. When the following page appears, you can start to use the application.



Function Description
Tap to edit the Devices List. Please refer to 2.3.1 Edit Device
List.
In the Device List / Genie XMS Server List / Push Notification
List, swipe down from the top to display the search bar.
Shows the added Group on the top of the list; and added
Devices on the bottom of the list.
Group List: Tap a group to expand its device list and then tap a
device to bring up the live view page. The number icon
indicates the number of devices in the group.
Device List: Tap a device to bring up the live view page. The
Unclassified [*] indicates the number of devices haven’t been
added to a group.
Tap to add new devices. Please refer to 2.3.2 Add Device List.
Tap to show DVR / NVR / Genie XMS Server Device List.
Tap to show IP Camera Device List.
Tap to show Push Notification List.
Tap to show application version and user guide or tap to
import and export device. Please refer to 2.4 Help.
Tap to return to the Device List.

Single / Quad Division Tap to change to single or quad division screen display.
Tap to enter the automatic sequence mode (in both single and

Shows the live view of the selected device.
Tap to record the video to the local mobile device. The

or iPhone. Note that the MobileFocus Plus doesn’t support
M-JPEG recording. Please refer to 2.3.5 Local Recording.
Tap to take a snapshot. The snapshot files will be saved at your

Tap to bring up the channel / camera list, and then tap on the

2.3.1
Edit Device List
You can edit or delete devices in the Device List, add devices to a group or change the order
of the devices on the Device List page.
To delete a device:
1.
Tap the Edit button on the Device List.

To change the order of the devices:
Press and hold the
icon and drag it up or down to change the device order.
To view or configure the settings of a device:

icon to bring up the editing page.

Tap each field to change the setting. Tap the Save button to save the changes and return
to the Device List page.
To add devices to a group:
1.
Tap the
Add icon to bring up the menu as below, and then tap Add Group.

2. Tap to select the devices which you want to add to the group. You can also search the
device in the search field. Tap Save to save the setting.

Enter the group name and tap OK to save the setting.

The group will be added on the top of the Device List, and you can still tap the
to add or delete the devices in the group. The number icon
devices in this group.
To delete a group:
1. Tap the Edit button on the Device List.

2.3.2
Add Device List
You can add EverFocus’ DVRs / NVRs / IP cameras or Genie XMS Servers in the respective
device lists, and you can add the devices manually or automatically by Local Search.
To add IP devices manually:
1.

Add icon to bring up the menu as below, and then tap Add Device.

The device setting page will show up as below.

Tap the Model selection field to bring up the model list and scroll to select a model. For
Genie XMS Servers, please select XMS/Commander2/Elite2.
5. Enter the Name, IP/URL, Port, User account and Password of the device. Keep the
Second Stream on. We highly recommend using the Second Stream for saving network
bandwidth.
6. Tap Save to add the new device to the Device List.

To add IP devices automatically by Local Search:
1.
Follow the above 1 and 2 steps and tap Local Search. This page appears.
2.
Tap a desired device to bring up the below page.
3.
Tap the Model selection field to bring up the model list and scroll to select a model.
4.
Type the User account and Password of the selected device. The default user account
and password are as follows:
DVR: The default user account is admin and the default password is 11111111.
IP Camera: The default user account is user1 and the default password is 11111111.

5. Keep the Second Stream on. We highly recommend using the Second Stream for saving
network bandwidth.

Tap the Save button to add the new device and the device is added to the Device List.
For the Second Stream function to work, the Sub-Stream function of the IP devices have to
be enabled in advance. Please refer to the User’s Manual of your IP devices.

* EverFocus DVRs and NVRs support dual streams, and the sub-stream function has been
automatically enabled with a fixed resolution of 360 x 240; but for certain models, users are
able to configure the settings (resolution, frame rate…) of sub-stream.
** EverFocus IP cameras support triple streams, please enable the Stream 2 because the
MobileFocus will only source the Stream 2 for mobile live viewing.
To add IP devices automatically by Local Search:
You have to configure the Vehicle settings on the Genie XMS server first, and then add this
Genie XMS server to the MobileFocus (Plus).

Note: To connect the Vehicle through MobileFocus (Plus), your Mobile DVR in the Vehicle
need to equipped with 3G/4G module.

1. On the Maintain page of the Genie XMS server (Device Detail > Add), add a Vehicle to the
Xfleet Group. Please refer to the Genie XMS User’s Manual for more details.

Add this Genie XMS Server to the MobileFocus (Plus) DVR / NVR Device List.

4. On Quad Division display
, you can change to the next or previous quad views by

icons. To view Quad Division display in sequence, tap the
icon (only for DVR / NVR).
5. You can tap the video stream to hide the channel name and date/time. Tap again to show
the channel name and date/time.

6. To assign IP cameras on a channel of Quad Division display, tap on a desired channel,
the channel will be marked with a light green frame. Then, tap the
icon to bring up
the Camera List. Tap an IP camera, and the IP camera will be assigned to the channel.
7. To connect a vehicle, Tap a Genie XMS server, and tap the
icon to bring up the
device list. Tap a camera under the Vehicle list, and its video stream will show on that
screen. Please note that to connect the vehicle, your Mobile DVR in the vehicle need to
equip with 3G/4G module.

Gesture Digital Zoom
The application also supports touch gestures. You can spread to zoom in or pinch to zoom out
on “single” division screen / full screen.

Local Recording (MobileFocus Plus Only)
You can record the videos to your mobile device, and the recording files will be saved at a
created EverFocus album in your Photos files.
1. Select a channel, and tap
to start recording, and tap
again to stop recording.
2. When the message pops up as below, the recording is successfully saved.

Please note that the MobileFocus Plus only supports H.264 Local Recording. If the stream
from the device is M-JPEG, when tapping the
icon, the following message will pop up.
To enable the Local Recording function, disable the Second Stream function on the Device
Editing Page for the MobileFocus Plus to receive main stream (H.264) from the device. Then
you can start using the Local Recording function.

2.3.6
PTZ Control
You can remotely control the PTZ cameras or configure the PTZ Preset setting by this
application. Before start using the Auto Pan, Pattern and Tour functions, please note that you
need to pre-configure these settings of the connected PTZ camera through local OSD or
remote web page. Please refer to the User’s Manual of your PTZ camera. You can also control
PTZ camera using gestures.
To control PTZ camera, tap the
PTZ Camera icon, and the screen shows as below. And
you can swipe the PTZ setting button field to bring up the next setting page.
Focus: Tap to bring up the slide bar for adjusting the camera focus. Slide to left to focus near,
and slide to right to focus far.

Iris+ / Iris-: Tap to widen or narrow down the IRIS opening.
Preset: The function is used to force camera to turn to the preconfigured preset position. Tap
the Preset button to bring up the Preset setting page. Enter a Preset number and then tap
to go to the Preset position.
You can also setup preset positions here. Enter a number and then tap
to save the
preset position. To delete a configured preset position, enter a number and then tap
Auto Pan: Tap to force the camera to pan 360°endlessly.

Pattern: Tap to move the camera in a pattern mode (The pattern mode is the Pattern “1”
configured in EverFocus PTZ cameras).
Tour: Tap to move the camera in a tour mode (The tour mode is the Tour “1” configured in
EverFocus PTZ cameras).
Menu: Tap the Menu button on the PTZ panel to bring up the OSD menu on the screen. You
can use the Up and Down arrow icons on the screen to select among each menu item, tap
the Right arrow icon to enter the selected menu item, and tap Left arrow icon to return to
the previous page.
Gestures:
You can swipe to change the directions, pinch to zoom out, and spread to zoom in on “single”
division screen / full screen.

Search and Playback
You can search video by time or event to play back certain recordings. Currently, this function
is only available for DVRs / NVRs (MobileFocus supports only 1 channel playback;
MobileFocus Plus supports multi-channel playback).
To Search and play back the recordings, please tap the
below page.
Search icon to bring up the
Time Search: Search and play back the recording from a specific time point.
1. Tap the Select Date and Select Time fields in the Time Search column to select a playback
start time.

Search icon, and it will start playing back the first channel recording from the
selected start time. For more details on Playback, please see Playback Mode Interface.
Event Search: Search and play back the event recordings within a selected time period.

2. Tap the Start Date / Time and End Date / Time fields to select a specific time period. Tap to
select the desired event types: Alarm, Motion and Video Loss. Tap the

Playback Mode Interface:
The MobileFocus (free) supports one channel playback while the Plus version supports 1 / 4
-channel playback.
When you first play back the recordings, the screen will only display single division. You can
also switch the channel to another camera; for the Plus version users, you can select different
division displays, and connect the rest recorded video streams on the screen at the same
playback time.

Live View Screen
Function Description
Tap to take a snapshot. The snapshot files will be saved
at your Photos folder in iPod touch or iPhone.
Shows the playback speed. To adjust the playback speed,
tap the Control icon (No.10) to bring up the Control Bar
and then tap the fast forward/reverse icon.
Tap to bring up the channel list, and then tap on the
desired channel to display on the Single screen.
Tap to enable or disable the speaker function either in
live view or playback mode.
Tap to bring up a Control Bar
which you
can choose to stop / pause / fast reverse / fast forward.
Tap the fast reverse/forward icons can adjust the
playback speed.
Tap to search videos by time or event.
Tap to hide the channel name and date/time. Tap again
to show the channel name and date/time.

2.4 Push Notification
Push Notification function notifies you of occurred events by sending messages to your
mobile devices. Before start using Push Notification, the respective functions of the Genie
XMS Server or the connected devices have to be enabled in advance. Please refer to 2.4.3
Enable Push Notification.

Receive Push Notification in Standby mode
Note:
1. Performance of Push Notification might be varied due to network stability.
2. If you disable the Background App Refresh function or enable the Low Power Mode
function (iOS 9 function for iPhone only), you will receive pop-up push notifications but
the push notification will not be recorded in the Push Notification List.

2.4.1
Read Push Notification
In the Push Notification List, you can read push notifications, display live view or play back
the recording of devices.
1. Tap
icon to show the Genie XMS Server List.
2. Tap a Genie XMS Server to bring up the corresponding Push Notification List. You can tap
General tab or xFleet tab to switch between General notifications and xFleet
notifications.

3. Tap a push notification to bring up the menu as below.
4. Tap Live View on the menu to bring up the live view page, and its video stream will show
on the screen as below.

5. Tap Playback View on the menu to bring up the playback view page, and start playing
back the event recording.
6. The read push notifications will be marked in white; while those unread push
notifications remain being red.
Note:
1. To play video streams in the Live view / Playback page, make sure you use the network that
allows you to access the Genie XMS Server, or you will fail to connect the devices.
2. If you tap a push notification in standby mode, it will bring up the Live view page directly.

Delete Push Notification
You can delete push notifications in the Push Notification List.
To delete a push notification:
In the Push Notification List, swipe a push notification to the left and tap the Delete button.
To delete all push notifications:

All.

Enable Push Notification
To use the Push Notification function, you have to enable the Push Notification function both
on the Genie XMS server and MobileFocus.
Enable Push Notification on the Genie XMS servers:
On the Alarm/Event Setting(Device) page (Setting > Event > Alarm/Event Setting(Device),
check the Enable column to enable the alarm function and check the Mobile Notification
column to enable the Push Notification function for each connected device (DVR / NVR / IP
Camera).
Note: For the alarm function to work on the Genie XMS servers, some settings include
Network, Event or Alarm Server have to be configured on the device end in advance. Please
refer to the Genie XMS User’s Manual for more details.

Enable Push Notification on MobileFocus:
1. To enable or disable the Push Notification function, tap the
server to bring up the editing page.

2. Find Receive Notification and flip the switch to turn ON the push notification function. By
default, the Receive Notification function is ON for any newly added Genie XMS servers.

2.5 Help
Tap the
Help icon to find more information such as application version, release note and
user manual, to import / export the device list or to configure the smooth display
performance.

2.5.1
Device Import / Export
This function is used for copying or backing up the devices from your Device List, and the data
will be saved in QR code image at a dedicated folder (EverFocus) in the Photos.
The Export function is for users to generate a QR Code of the added devices, so that another
iPhone / iPod can Import the QR code to add the same devices without going through
configuration steps again.
To generate a QR code of the devices,
1. Tap Export Device, and the window shows as following:

2. Tap the device which you want to export and tap Export. Please note that do not export
more than 16 devices at one time.
3. When the QR code image is generated, tap Save to album to save the image.

To import the devices by QR code,
1. Tap Import Device.
2. You can either scan the QR code or just load the QR code saved in your Photos folder to
add the devices.
3. After the import process is completed, the devices will be added to your Device List.

Smooth Video
When the Smooth Video function is enabled (turn on the switch), the live view streaming of
