MSP430FR5969 Launchpad Firmware Flashing
Guide for ADS1282-SP
This user's guide provides step-by-step instructions to load or update the MSP430™ firmware:
1. Ensure that the ADS1282-SP GUI has been installed on the PC as this process provides the flasher
tool, the firmware file, and a batch file.
2. Ensure that the MSP430 LaunchPad™ is connected to the PC with a USB cable.
3. Ensure the ADS1282-SP EVM is not connected.
4. Ensure that the ADS1282-SP GUI is not running.
5. Navigate to the firmware updater directory in the installation path for the ADS1282-SP GUI (see
Figure 1). The default location is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADS1282-SP\Apps\ads1282\Firmware Updater

This directory contains a version of MSP430Flasher, and firmware version v1.0.3.0.
[NOTE: If desired, obtain the current or updated firmware source files from the product tools and
software folder http://www.ti.com/product/ADS1282-SP/toolssoftware or directly downloaded from
following link:MSP430FR5969 LaunchPad Firmware Source for ADS1282-SP (SBAC149)].
6. Execute the batch file ADS1282_Update_firmware.bat by double clicking it in Windows® Explorer, or
right-click to open. This launches a command shell and begins programming.
7. Press N if prompted for firmware update.

8. See the success message as shown in Figure 2.
Press any key to continue... Now the firmware is updated.

Before launching the ADS1282-SP GUI and connecting the ADS1282 EVM to the LaunchPad, disconnect
the USB from the LaunchPad and reconnect. This will re-enumerate the USB and execute the newly
updated firmware.

which have not been so designated is solely at the Buyer's risk, and that Buyer is solely responsible for compliance with all legal and
regulatory requirements in connection with such use.
TI has specifically designated certain components as meeting ISO/TS16949 requirements, mainly for automotive use. In any case of use of
non-designated products, TI will not be responsible for any failure to meet ISO/TS16949.
