Connect the power adaptor to the power supply outlet. 2. Connect the pH or ORP electrode to the BNC on the instrument. Remove the protective cap. 3. Turn on the meter. 4. Immerse the electrode in the solution to be tested. Stir gently and wait for the reading to stabilize. 5. Select the pH, ORP, Temperature mode with the pH, MV, °C button. Select EC, CF, or TDS mode with the MODE button. 6. After use, turn off the meter. Rinse the electrode with tap water to minimize contamination. Replace the protective cap with pH4 buffer to keep the pH electrode wet. NOTE: When meter is turned on, the back-lit LCD is bright, it will be lit for about 30 seconds then it automatically extinguishes slowly. If you need the back-lit LCD light, press and hold (approximately 0.5 seconds) the pH. °C, or MV button. Calibration 1. pH Calibration • Pour a small quantity of pH7.0, and pH4.0 solution into clean beakers. • For a particularly accurate calibration, it is advised to use two beakers for each buffer solution; the first is to be used for rinsing the electrode, the second is to be used for the calibration. In this way, the risks of contaminating the buffer solution are reduced to a minimum. • Connect the power adaptor. Turn on the meter. • Immerse the pH electrode in pH7.0 buffer solution, and gently stir it. • Allow the reading to stabilize and with the supplied screwdriver, adjust the “pH7.0” calibration trimmer to read “7.0” pH. Rinse the electrode with distilled water, and wipe it with filter-paper. • Immerse the pH electrode in pH4.00 buffer solution and gently stir it. • Allow the reading to stabilize and with the supplied screwdriver, adjust the “pH4.0” calibration trimmer to read “4.0” pH. Rinse the electrode with distilled water, and wipe it with filter-paper. 2. EC, CF, ppm Calibration • Press the “EC/CF/ppm” key. Choose the “EC” for operating. Immerse the meter in 1431µs/cm (1.41mS) calibrated solution. • Allow the reading to stabilize and with a small screwdriver turn the CAL calibration trimmer until the display shows “1.41EC”. Rinse the electrode with distilled water, and wipe it with filter-paper. Important The instrument’s pH range must be re-calibrated whenever: • The electrode has been used (laid) for a long time from the last calibration. • The electrode has been used in particularly taxing conditions. • The utmost accuracy is required. Notice • Stir the sensor gently when using. • In case of abnormal phenomena such as high measured deviation, blinking measured value, no zero resetting, etc., immerse the electrode in alcohol for cleaning (5 minutes maximum) or buffer 4. • If the protective cap has been without electrolyte, or if the electrode has not been used for a short time, the electrode may be reactivated by leaving it for several hours in a beaker containing normal tap water or buffer 4. • If reactivation cannot be done, the electrode must be replaced. • Without using power adaptor, if the meter cannot be switched on or the display fades, connect the power adaptor to the power supply outlet. It will charge the rechargeable battery and it is operational while charging.
