Brief Introduction
Scope of Application
It is applicable to one-to-one wall-mounted type inverter units.

Basic Principle
Connect the tester to communication line of the unit in parallel as shown below:

Functions
1.Self-diagnosis of Indoor and Outdoor Units:
Monitor and display communication data of the unit. If it fails, it will
automatically turn to simulation test to test indoor and outdoor unit step
by step.Finally,it will judge which malfunction it is.
2. Test Indoor Unit:
If there is communication malfunction or malfunction of indoor unit needs to
be independently inspected, tester will simulate outdoor unit to communicate
with indoor unit and meanwhile intercept and capture data of indoor unit.
3. Test Outdoor Unit:
If there is communication malfunction or malfunction of outdoor unit needs
to be independently inspected, tester will simulate indoor unit to communicate
with outdoor unit and meanwhile intercept and capture data of outdoor unit.
In this mode, data of remote control can be directly received.

Operation
Description of Appearance and Buttons
There is LCD and buttons on tester to facilitate the operation. LCD display
the user’s menu and useful information. Buttons is used for choosing operation.
Backlight of LCD is controlled by program. At the beginning of energization,
the backlight will be on for 5 seconds as default. If there is no button pressed
within 5 seconds, it will be off automatically. Besides, it will be on for 10
seconds. If button is not pressed within 10 seconds, it will be off automatically.

Enter selected item
Power cord is three-core. Brown wire connects to live wire, blue wire connects
to neutral wire and black wire connects to communication wire. Connect
them to indoor unit or patching board of outdoor unit as shown in the picture.

Introduction to Wiring
Self-diagnosis for Wiring of Indoor and Outdoor Units
Connect three-core wire to patching board of indoor unit or outdoor unit.
Connect wire according to corresponding wire. Live wire connects to terminal
of live wire (brown); neutral wire connects to terminal of neutral wire (blue);
communication wire connects to terminal of communication wire (black).
In that case, communication wire of tester, indoor unit and outdoor unit
are connected in parallel.
Wiring for Testing Indoor Unit
When self-diagnosis fails and it needs to manually test indoor unit, only
tester and indoor unit shall be connected and communication wire of outdoor
unit shall be disconnected.
Connection of neutral and live wire is the same as self-diagnosis of
indoor and outdoor units and indoor unit shall be turned on.
Wiring for Testing Outdoor Unit
When self-diagnosis fails and it needs to manually test outdoor unit,
only tester and outdoor unit shall be connected and communication wire of
indoor unit shall be disconnected.
Connection of neutral and live wire is the same as self-diagnosis of
indoor and outdoor units and outdoor unit shall be turned on.

Instruction of operation procedure
Interface of Choosing Function
After connecting three-core wire as
per the method above, energize the unit
and the tester will enter welcome interface.
In 1 second later, it will automatically
change to function selection interface.
There are three items in function
selection interface:self-diagnosis, test IDU
and test ODU. Press button“▲” or “▼”
to choose expected function and then press
button “ENTER” to enter the function.
There are two methods to choose
self-diagnosis. One is the method set forth above.
The other is that don’t press any button
within 5 seconds and then the system will
automatically enter self-diagnosis.
Test Interface
After choosing function, tester will intelligently identify communication circuit and protocol
of the unit. During this period,“self-diagnosis
under testing…” is displayed.

Error of Self-diagnosis Interface
If the tested unit has communication
malfunction, the tester can’t monitor communication data of the unit and the self-diagnosis
will fail. In that case, tester will automatically
turn to simulation test to judge where the
communication malfunction comes from.

Auto simulation will test indoor and outdoor units as set procedure
and the result is shown below:

Interface of Successful Self-diagnosis
When the tested unit has no communication
malfunction, the self-diagnosis will be successful.
The tester will turn to interface of successful
self-diagnosis.
Press button“▲”or “▼”to view
information of malfunction. If there is
malfunction, the malfunction will be displayed
as shown below.
The second row is “ check IDU’s data”;

Interface of Operation Information
Operation information includes information
of all communication data. Press button “▲” or
“▼” to change page, which is shown as below.
Press button “BACK” to return to previous
interface, view information of malfunction or
enter function selection interface.

Process of Testing Indoor Unit
When the unit has communication malfunction which causes failure
of self-diagnosis or malfunction of indoor unit needs to be independently
inspected, it will turn to manual testing mode. This section is the process
of manual test for indoor unit.
When the unit is de-energized, connect three-core wire to patching board
of indoor unit as per corresponding color. Live wire connects to terminal
of live wire (brown); neutral wire connects to terminal of neutral wire(blue);
communication wire connects to terminal of communication wire (black).
Note: in that case, communication wire of tester and indoor unit shall be
connected in parallel. Suspend the communication wire of outdoor unit and
don’t let it contact with other conducting body.

Function Selection Interface
Once the unit is energized, it will
enter welcome interface and 1 second later,
it will automatically turn to function selection
interface. Press button selection interface.
Press button“▲”or “▼”to select “ test
IDU” function and press button” ENTER” to
enter it, which is as shown below.
Prompting Interface for Disconnecting
Wire
After entering the function, system will
show “ disconnect communication wire of ODU”.
In that case, user shall confirm if communication
wire of outdoor unit has been removed form
patching board. If not, disconnect the communication wire after de-energization. Then
energize it and enter the function again.
After confirming that the communication
wire of outdoor unit has been disconnected,
press button “ENTER” to enter test interface
to start the test.
Test Interface
“test IDU under testing” is displayed
and it starts to test the unit.

Process of Testing Indoor Unit
Failure of Manual Test
When manual test for indoor unit fails,
“test IDU communication error with indoor
unit” will be displayed on tester.

Successful Test for Indoor Unit
When tested unit has no communication
malfunction, tester will simulate outdoor unit
to communicate with indoor unit as per set
communication data of outdoor unit. In that
IDU test succeeded!

interface which is shown as below.
View of malfunction and operation data is
the same as self-diagnosis function.After the
test for indoor unit is successful, tester will
keep communicating with indoor unit.
If communication fails, “ IDU data is not
received” will be displayed.

Process of Testing Outdoor Unit
When the unit has communication malfunction which causes failure
of self-diagnosis or malfunction of outdoor unit needs to be independently
inspected, it will turn to manual testing mode. This section is the process of
manual test for outdoor unit.

communication wire connects to terminal of communication wire (black).
Note: in that case, communication wire of tester and outdoor unit

unit and don’t let it contact with other conducting body.

function and press button” ENTER” to enter it,
which is as shown below.

Prompting Interface for Disconnecting

After entering the function, system will
show “ disconnect communication wire of
IDU”. In that case, user shall confirm if
communication wire of indoor unit has
been removed form patching board. If not,
disconnect the communication wire after
de-energization. Then energize it and enter
the function again.

Process of Testing Outdoor Unit
Instruction of operation procedure
Test for Outdoor Unit
After confirming that the communication
wire of indoor unit has been disconnected,
press button “ENTER” to enter the next
step. In that case, it will prompt “normal
test” and “ fixed frequency test”. “ normal
test” is for test free frequency which can
completely simulate normal operation of
the complete unit. “fixed frequency test”
can simulate the operation process of
fixed-frequency unit which facilitate
troubleshooting and the interface is shown
below.
When select the expected item, press
button “ENTET” to enter the next step to
start the test.
Test Interface
“test ODU under testing” is
displayed and communication circuit and
communication.Protocol will be automatically
inspected. After the inspection is successful,
it will simulate indoor unit to communicate
with outdoor unit as per preset communication data. It also will turn to interface
of malfunction information to display each
kind of information.

Process of Testing Outdoor Unit
Failure of Manual Test
When manual test for outdoor unit fails,
“test ODU communication error with outdoor
unit” will be displayed on tester.

Successful Test for Outdoor Unit
When tested unit has no communication
malfunction, tester will simulate indoor unit
to communicate with outdoor unit as per set
communication data of indoor unit. In that
case, tester will automatically turn to successful
interface which is shown as below.

the same as self-diagnosis function.After the test
for outdoor unit is successful, tester will keep
communicating with outdoor unit.If communication
fails, “ ODU data is not received” will be displayed.

Note: Tester has infrared receiver and during manual test for outdoor unit,
remote control can be used for setting each operation mode and temperature to
the tester.
