To rewind the cable, unplug and press the cable wind pedal (fig. 8) . Operation To turn the vacuum cleaner on, lightly press the ON/OFF button (fig. 9). Suction power regulation Move the power regulator to electronically regulate suction power according to the type of surface to be cleaned. The maximum power of the appliance can therefore be exploited to vacuum dust from carpets or hard floors (marble, ceramics, cotto, etc) and a lower suction power to clean curtains or other light fabrics. Move the slide to vary the power (fig. 10). The hose handgrip also incorporates a mechanical suction regulator. This enables suction power to be varied rapidly and practically by simply moving the slide. Safety device The appliance has a safety device which trips and turns the appliance off if the motor overheats. To turn it on again, unplug from the mains, eliminate the cause of the overheating (eg. clogged nozzle, dust drum full, filters dirty, see the "Cleaning" chapter) and leave the appliance to cool down (at least 20 minutes). Plug in again and press the ON/OFF pedal. If the appliance does not come on, contact a service centre. 10 CLEANING When the collected dust reaches the MAX level marked on the dust collection drum, the drum must be emptied. Empty the drum (ordinary cleaning) 1) Press the button on the handle and extract the drum completely using the handle (fig. 11). 2) Place the drum over a rubbish bin and press the button on the drum. The drum lid opens and the dust drops into the rubbish bin (fig. 12); 3) Close the cover. 4) Replace the drum on the appliance. NB: The appliance has a safety device which prevents the drum being replaced if the filter is not correctly in place. Clean the filters in the drum (regular cleaning) Regularly and in any case whenever the appliance becomes less efficient, you are recommended to clean the dust collection system thoroughly. 1) Empty the drum; 2) Press the lever and extract the filter assembly as indicated in fig. 13. 3) Separate the filters. Clean the mesh and HEPA* filters by shaking them and brushing them with a brush (fig. 14) (do not use wire or hard bristle brushes as they could damage the filter material). About every six months or so, the filters should be washed under running water. 4) Dry the filters thoroughly then reassembly the filter assembly. 5) Fit the filter assembly in the drum and lock in place with the lever; 6) Close the drum and replace in the appliance. * The HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) Filter removes impurities down to a size of 0.3 microns, filtering all types of particle and even bacteria. Inspection hatch The appliance has a hatch to inspect the vacuum duct. Remove the hatch for access to the duct to inspect for large or voluminous objects blocking the duct (fig. 13). Air outlet filter Depending on the model, your appliance is fitted with a microfilter or high efficiency filter (HEPA Filter*). This is housed under the air outlet slits. Remove the air discharge grill, take out the filter and when visibly dirty, clean. After replacing the filter, reposition the grill correctly. Caution: Never use the appliance without the filter. "PARKING" POSITION The appliance is provided with a clip at the bottom to enable it to be put away safely and tidily in the parking position (fig. 17) If you have to interrupt cleaning for a brief period, the appliance has a convenient hose "parking" system. Insert the bracket on the brush joint into the housing on the bottom of the appliance (Fig. 18). IMPORTANT WARNING Malfunction of the appliance (low power, unusual noise or complete breakdown) could be caused by obstructed nozzles or hoses or faulty electrical components. Then check the nozzles, hose and inspection hatch and clean the drum filters regularly. If this does not resolve the problem, take the appliance to an authorised service centre. 11 EN ">
