Frequently asked questions

This kit is intended for the quantitative determination of IGF-I in human serum by radioimmunoassay (RIA). It is to be used as an adjunct procedure to hGH determination in the diagnosis of hypopituitarism and acromegaly.

The DiaSorin IGF-I RIA is a double antibody disequilibrium assay which includes an ODS-silica extraction procedure for serum samples. After the extraction procedure, the RIA is performed employing addition of sample and rabbit anti-IGF-I, followed by a 2 hour incubation at 2-8°C. Iodine-125 IGF-I is then added followed by a second incubation for 20 hours at 2-8°C. Pre-precipitated carrier, second antibody and polyethylene glycol are added in a single step. The assay can be centrifuged and decanted after the 2 hour second antibody incubation at 2-8°C.

The kit contains IgF-1 Calibrator 0, IgF-1 Calibrators 1-5, IgF-1 Antiserum, 125I IgF-1 Tracer, IgF-1Controls, IgF-1 Precipitating Complex, and ODS-Silica.
