Frequently asked questions

This kit is intended for the quantitative determination of human arginine vasopressin (AVP, ADH) in plasma or other samples by radioimmunoassay (RIA) following an extraction using ODS-silica.

The DiaSorin AVP RIA consists of 2 procedures. The first involves extraction of the samples using the octadecasilyl-silica (ODS-silica) columns that are included in the kit. The extracted samples are then assayed using a disequilibrium RIA procedure to maximize sensitivity.

The kit includes Vasopressin 1% BSA-borate Buffer, Vasopressin Calibrator, Vasopressin Antiserum, 125I Vasopressin, Precipitating Complex (GAGP-PPT), and Vasopressin Control Plasma.

Two milliliters of EDTA plasma are required for the extraction. Collect blood by venipuncture in a 5 or 10 mL evacuated glass tube. Centrifuge promptly for 15 minutes using 760 x g. Separate the plasma from the cells and place in storage tubes.

Disposable borosilicate glass tubes, centrifuge, gamma scintillation counter, vortex, pipetting devices, syringes, methanol, 4% acetic acid, 1 M hydrochloric acid, compressed air or nitrogen supply, 37°C water bath, disposable glass tubes, and purified water.
