Toro Fuel Tank Kit, Back Pack Blower Model 30940 provides an alternative fuel tank for your backpack blower. The kit includes a fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel line, and all the necessary mounting hardware, It is designed to replace the original fuel tank on your backpack blower, and it is easy to install. With this new fuel tank, you can extend the run time of your backpack blower, so you can get more work done without having to stop and refuel. The new fuel tank also includes a fuel filter, which helps to keep your engine running smoothly.

(1) Fuel tank assemby which includes: 1) Fuel tank(Part no. 71-1120) 1) Fuel filter (Part no. 71-1 160) 1) Washer (Part no. 71-1150) 1) Fuel line & grommet (Part no. 41-1800) 1} Fuel tank bracket (Part no. 71-1140) 1) Rubber cushion (Part no. 71-1130) 1) Muffler heat shield (Part no. 71-1170) 1) Screen holder (Part no. 71-1190) (1) Screen holder gasket (Part no. 71-1180) (4) Screen holder mounting screws (Part no. 47-6460) (2) Muffier Cover mounting screws (Part no. 41-5210) ( ( ( ( ( ( "MUOD Figure 1 FUEL TANK REMOVAL 1. Remove the fuel cap assembly and save. 2. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank into a approved gasoline container. 3. Disconnect fuel line from the carburetor. 4. Remove (2) 5 x 10mm Screws securing the fuel tank bracket to the frame and save. 5. Remove the old fuel tank bracket, cushion and fuel tank and discard. MUFFLER COVER REMOVAL 6. Remove (1) 6 x 20mm Screw securing the top of the muffler cover to the blower housing and save. 7. Remove (1) 5 x 42mm screw securing the muf- fler cover to the starter assembly and save. 8. Remove (2) 5 x 12mm screws securing the bot- tom of the muffler cover to the muffler cover bracket and discard. 9. Remove (1) 6 x 25mm bolt securing the muffler cover bracket to the bottom right hand corner of the engine crankcase. Save bolt, lockwasher and flat- washer. 10. Swing the muffler cover bracket downward, away from the muffler body. MUFFLER REMOVAL 11. Remove the (2) 6Emm self locking nuts securing the muffler body to the cylinder. Save the fi- atwashers and nuts. 12. Remove the old muffler gasket and discard. 13. Remove the (4) 4 x 14mm SCrews securing the Screen holder to the muffler and discard screws. Re- move the old screen holder and its gasket and dis- card. Note: If the muffler is the early round style, the original screen holder should be retained. The screen holder included in the modification kit fits the square type muffler only. 14. Inspect the muffler screen and holder for dete- rioration and replace if necessary. Note: As the design of the muffler has changed, be certain to order the correct muffler bracket for the muffler being replaced. 15. Clean any gasket material from the muffler and exhaust port flange mating surfaces. If necessary, remove any carbon deposits from exhaust port using only a wooden or plastic scraper. 16. Save the spark arrestor screen and seat. MUFFLER INSTALLATION (Fig. 2) 17. Clean the spark arrestor Screen and install it on the muffler body. 18. Place the flat side of the spark arrestor seat on top of the seat (Fig. 2). 19. Install the new gasket and new screen holder. 20. Secure the screen holder to the muffler body with (4) new 4 x 14mm screws from the kit. 21. Install (1) new extended muffler gasket / heat shield over the studs. The back flap portion of the gasket should be positioned between the engine crankcase and muffler cover bracket (Fig. 3). The TORO Company -1988 22. Install the muffler body to the cylinder with (2) flatwashers and locking nuts. Do not tighten. 73 Rotate bottom muffler cover bracket up into po- sition and secure it to the engine crankcase with a flatwasher, lockwasher and 6 x 25mm bolt. Figure 2 Note: Make sure that the bottom portion of the ex- tended gasket is located between the bottom mounting bracket of the muffler body and the lower mounting flange at the muffler cover bracket. Align the holes (Fig. 3). MUFFLER COVER INSTALLATION 24. Install and tighten the 6 x 20mm screw securing the muffler cover to the blower housing. 25. Install and tighten the 5 x 42mm screw securing the muffler cover to the starter assembly. 26 Install and tighten the (2) new 5 x 14mm screws securing the bottom of the muffler cover to the bot- tom muffler bracket. 27 Tighten the (2) upper 10mm self locking nuts se- curing the muffler to the cylinder. FUEL TANK INSTALLATION (Fig. 3) 28 Install new fuel tank, cushion and bracket as shown in fig. 3. Figure 3 29. Install fuel cap and reconnect fuel line to carbu- retor.
