DiaSorin ACTH RIA Instruction Manual

Below you will find brief information for ACTH RIA. The ACTH RIA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of human ACTH in EDTA plasma. It is a radioimmunoassay (RIA) that can be performed by one of two methods. Option A involves a 16-24 hour incubation at 2-8°C, while Option B involves a 3 hour incubation at 2-8°C. The assay is used in the assessment of adrenal and pituitary insufficiency, as well as in the assessment of Cushing’s syndrome.

Frequently asked questions

Each laboratory should establish its normal range. In the DiaSorin Laboratory, the normal range was found to be 0-71 pg/mL for Option A (n=50) and 0-82 pg/mL for Option B (n=49).

The minimum detectable amount is 15 pg/mL for the overnight option (Option A) and 20 pg/mL for the 3 hour option (Option B).

Control values have been established using Option A, the overnight assay procedure. Values obtained using the three-hour procedure may give slightly different results. Counting times should be sufficient to prevent statistical error.
