CONGRATULATIONS You now own one of the finest Volume pedals made. To in- sure your satisfaction, please take a few moments to read this booklet which will point up features of the product that may be new to you. Above all, we hope you enjoy your new "Morley" as much as we enjoyed building it for you. GENERAL INFORMATION This Morley pedal controls electrical signals with (LED) light sources and electro-optical resistors which do not wear or make mechanical or electrical noise. They last for many, many years with no maintenance. The power source for the pedal is either battery or AC line operated adapter, whichever is more convenient. The Volume pedal uses one nine volt battery. This is especially useful for traveling musicians who encounter line noises, varying voltages and power conditions in different parts of the world. The line adapter is avail- able in 120 and 240 volt models and delivers power to the Morley at 12 to 16 volts DC negative ground. When the adapter is plugged in, the batteries are automatically disconnected. Power is turned off with a switch or by removing the plug from the amplifier jack. This double precaution prevents the battery from being inadvertently run down. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 - Connect the musical instrument to the Morley by plugging one end of a shielded cable to the instrument and the other to the jack labeled "instrument" оп the side of the Morley. à - Use another shielded cord between the jack marked ‘amplifer" on the side of the Morley and the input of your music amplifier. 3 - Set the controls on your instrument and your amplifier to their usual settings. USING THE VOLUME PEDAL TRAVEL AND MINIMUM VOLUME CONTROLS Set the travel control at the extreme counter clockwise position. when the heel is all they way down the signal is turned off. As the toe is gradually depressed, the signal smoothly turns on and gets progressively louder. It reaches full volume just as it approaches the limit of 1ts travel. by placing the travel control in a more clockwise position, the turn on will occur more quickly and approach full volume sooner. With the travel control fully clockwise, the completed turn on will occur in about 15 percent of the total treadle motion. This capability makes for a highly versatile pedal, adaptable to many styles of play, music, and seating position. The minimum volume control allows the adjustment of the signal level from zero to A desired level with the heel of the pedal fully down. As the knob is rotated clock- wise, the minimum signal at heel down position increases. some players find they prefer it set to just audibility. Others want it set at scme louder playing level so they can come pack to it easily. Whatever your preference, 1t can be met with a simple adjustment. SPECIAL NOTE We highly recommend the use of alkaline type batteries. Their much longer 1ife makes them more economical than other types. In addition, they are unlikely to leak damaging chemicals. Use of the adapter eliminates battery expense.
