Application Information
Stir thoroughly before using. Do not shake. USE WITH
ADEQUATE VENTILATION. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF
CHILDREN. Read all label and Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDS) information prior to use. MSDS are available through
our website or by calling 1-800-441-9695.
Application Equipment: Apply with a brush, paint pad, aerosol
or by spray equipment; Airless, HVLP, Conventional. No thinning
Is needed. For aerosols, please refer to the product label or
MSDS for safety and detailed application instructions.
Application Method: Always apply with the grain of the wood
using a smooth, even stroke. This product many cause some
grain raise. Light sanding with fine sandpaper will remove
swollen wood fibers. For aerosols, please refer to the product
BARE WOOD: Sand with 180 to 220 grit sandpaper along
the wood grain until smooth. Do not use steel wool. Remove
all dust.
Deft Clear Wood Finish Waterborne can be applied direct to
wood or to enhance the color of the wood, use Deft Interior Qil
Based or Water Based stains.
PREVIOUSLY COATED WOOD: If the clean surface is in good
condition, sand with 180 — 220 grit sandpaper. Do not use steel
wool. Remove all dust. Test in a small area to ensure proper
adhesion. If the finish is damaged or deteriorated, complete
removal of the finish is recommended.
RECOAT: For adequate protection two or more coats are
required. Sand with 180 to 220 grit sandpaper along the wood
grain until smooth. Do not use steel wool. Remove dust.

General Surface Preparation
Surface must be clean and dry. Remove all loose and peeling
paint, dirt, grease and any other surface contaminants.
Limitations of Use
Do not apply when the air, coating or surface temperature is
below 50°F (10°C).

release lead dust or fumes. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST OR FUMES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS
BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a properly
fitted NIOSH-approved respirator and prevent skin contact to
control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and
a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and
your family by contacting the USEPA National Lead Information
Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead. In
Canada contact a regional Health Canada office. Follow these
Instructions to control exposure to other hazardous substances
that may be released during surface preparation.
These products are not intended for immersion service or
other extreme conditions. Not recommended in situations
characterized by high heat or presence of corrosive chemicals.
Do not apply over sanding sealers which contain zinc stearate.
Not recommended for floors.

ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous
system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. May cause reproductive damage. Keep away
from heat, sparks, and flames. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross ventilation. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do
not breath dust, vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness or if air monitoring
demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) during and after application. Follow
respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Close container after each use. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not
get in eyes, on skin or clothing. FIRST AID: In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention immediately.
For skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced,
get medial attention immediately. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. If spilled, contain spilled material and remove with inert
absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused contents in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. WARNING! If you scrape, sand
