GETTING TO KNOW YOUR TEMPUR-PEDIC® MATTRESS
You’re one step closer to getting the sleep you need to live your best life.
It’s no secret we want you to get the most out of your new mattress. Here are some tips on how to do just that.
EASY REGISTRATION
Register your mattress today at Register.TempurPedic.com to be eligible for exclusive offers on TEMPUR-Pedic®
products and protect your purchase.
GETTING ACQUAINTED
Your new mattress may feel firmer than expected. All new mattresses need some time to “break in.” To speed up the
break-in period, spend a little extra time on it, reading, relaxing or watching TV.
Your new mattress may feel different from what you’re used to. Over the coming weeks, the TEMPUR® material will
adapt to your weight and temperature, and respond uniquely to your body’s needs throughout the night.
You may notice a “new product smell” at first. As with most new purchases, this is normal and will dissipate in a
couple of weeks.
RESPONDING TO TEMPERATURE
TEMPUR® material is sensitive to temperature—this is what helps it adapt to your body. In cooler rooms, your
mattress will feel a bit firmer, but when you lie on it, it will respond to your body temperature and become softer.
We do not recommend using an electric blanket or heating pad with your mattress, since high heat can hinder
TEMPUR® material’s ability to react to your body temperature. If you use an electric blanket or heating pad, we
recommend limiting its use to 30 minutes, on low or medium heat.
PLACING YOUR MATTRESS
Your mattress requires a firm, solid-surface (like a TEMPUR-Pedic® Foundation) or power base (like a TEMPUR-Ergo®
base) that is structurally capable of supporting it.
Do not use a box spring to support your mattress.
PROTECTING YOUR MATTRESS
Conventional, quilted mattress pads can hinder TEMPUR® material’s ability to react to your body temperature and
adapt to your body shape. Tempur-Pedic Mattress Protectors are designed to optimize the performance of our
products.

CLEANING THE COVER
The covers on most of our mattresses can be removed and washed. If you’re not sure if your cover is removable,
please refer to the tags sewn into the cover or contact TEMPUR-Pedic® Customer Service.
We recommend a cold temperature setting for machine washing and a cool setting for machine drying. Air-drying is
best. Do not “over-dry” the cover and do not use chlorine products or harsh stain removers of any kind.
If you spill liquid on your mattress, contact TEMPUR-Pedic® Customer Service for instructions on how best to clean it.
HANDLING THE MATTRESS
Our mattresses use a patented, one-sided design that means you’ll never have to flip, rotate, or turn it.
When moving, if needed, you can fold your mattress to make it easier to move. Fold it with the TEMPUR® side (top)
in.
If the mattress sits folded in cold weather (below 50°F), do not try to force it to lay flat when you use it again. It may
take a few hours, but the mattress will naturally unfold as it warms up.
When storing your mattress, lay the mattress flat—not on its side or folded.
If your mattress includes handles, they are for positioning purposes only—not for carrying.
