Introduction

PhotoBank is an innovative handheld device that allows you to store and manage your photo files from your digital camera. PhotoBank includes a built-in battery, memory card reader slots, a high capacity hard drive, status display, and a Hi-Speed USB interface. Once your unit is connected properly to your computer running a recent operating system, you will also be able to use it as you would any external hard drive for performing data storage functions.

Before you begin to use PhotoBank for the first time, there are a few important things to learn about your new product.

Controls, Connectors and Indicators

First familiarize yourself with the display, control keys, and the various connectors on the unit.

Top Surface - Display

Along the top surface you will find the status display. The display shows you the current status while the unit is powered on. See the figure below for a description of the icons and information provided by the display.

1. Memory Card Icons. When each type of card is inserted its icon will be shown here.

2. Generic Memory Card Icon. This icon is displayed when any type of card is inserted and detected.

3. Copy Function Progress Percentage. After the full contents of the card have been successfully copied, the number will show

“100%” as your confirmation.

4. USB Icon. This icon will be displayed whenever you are connected to a computer using the USB interface.

5. Hard Disk Drive Icon. This icon will display to confirm the ready status of the internal disk drive.

6. Hard Disk Free Space. This is a two-digit readout of the remaining hard disk free space.

7. Battery Charge Indicator. When you see only one or no bars, you should recharge the battery.

8. Copy Function Progress Bar. This graph will fill from left to right to indicate progression of the copy process.

9. Memory Card Data Size. This is a three-digit readout indicating the amount of data to be copied. If your card contains more than 1GB of data, then the display will show only 999 MB, even though the full amount of your data will be safely copied.

Front Side Panel Area

Along the front side panel of the unit you will find the USB connector for connection to a computer, the DC input connector for connection to the included AC Power Adapter, and the status LED. When the power adapter is connected, the battery charge LED will be red while charging and turn green when fully charged. The LED will also be red whenever you are connected to a computer via the USB interface.

Right Side Panel Area

The right side panel area contains the memory card slot for your Smart

Media (SM) memory card.

Left Side Panel Area

The left side panel area contains the memory card slot for your Secure

Digital (SD), Multimedia Card (MMC), and Memory Stick (MS) and

Memory Stick Pro memory cards. Here you will also find the On/Off button and the Copy button.

Back Side Panel Area

The back side panel area contains the memory card slot for your Compact

Flash (CF) and Microdrive (MD) memory cards.

Charging the Battery

PhotoBank uses a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery to provide power to the product when used remotely. When the battery is depleted it will normally take up to 3 hours to recharge fully. Your new battery may be only partially charged, so before using the unit with battery power you must first charge the battery. Note that regardless of the state of the battery, you can always operate the unit while the AC adapter is attached.

To charge the battery, plug the included AC adapter into a wall outlet, and then plug the adapter’s DC plug into the DC input jack on the unit.

When the power adapter is connected, the battery charge LED will be red while charging and will be green when fully charged.

About the Hard Disk

The PhotoBank internal hard drive comes pre-formatted from the factory in FAT32 format.

Note: Capacity dependent on model. Your operating system and PhotoBank display may report capacity as fewer gigabytes. 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Your internal hard drive is a complex electronic storage system and should be handled with care, as you might treat a sensitive portable computer or other state-of-the-art consumer electronics product. Do not subject it to shock, high temperatures, or strong magnetic fields.

Turning the unit ON and OFF

To turn the unit on, press the On/Off button. To turn the unit off, press the On/Off again. PhotoBank will turn off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity. This is to conserve the internal battery power.

Operation

This section describes how to use the features of PhotoBank.

Copying Memory Card Contents to the Hard Drive

Copying the complete contents of your camera’s memory card to the internal hard drive can be accomplished in a few easy steps.

1. Insert your card into the appropriate PhotoBank card slot.

2. Press the On/Off key to turn on the unit. Note that your card’s icon will be shown on the display, and you can also see the amount of data contained on your card.

3. Press the Copy key to begin copying data to the hard drive.

All the files from the card, including the folder structure on

the card, will be copied to a folder on the hard disk. Note that most digital cameras store photos within one or more folders on the memory card.

During the copy process, you can monitor the progress with the progress bar on the display. The transfer process is complete when the percentage of transferred files shown on display reaches 100%. After transfer, the files on memory card will still remain on the card. If you want to use the card for more pictures, you can use your camera to delete old files or to reformat your card.

The destination folder is stored under a common master folder named

CARDS. Each destination folder is assigned a new name comprised of the two-character abbreviation of your card type, followed by a 4-digit sequence number. Since a new folder is created each time you press the

Copy button, PhotoBank will not overwrite previous files.

When file transferring is complete, you may press On/Off to turn off the unit, or simply wait for 30 seconds for the unit to power down automatically.

During file transfer process, PhotoBank will not respond to pressing the

On/Off button. This prevents accidental data corruption. If you want to terminate a copy in progress, simply remove the card, and the display will indicate a terminated copy process by showing an 'X' sign on the memory card icon.

Connecting to a Computer

If you have copied photos from your memory card onto PhotoBank and now want to transfer them to your computer, you can do so easily using the USB interface.

Note: If your computer is running Windows 98 Second

Edition, you will need some additional software that you can download from the SmartDisk web site. Refer to the Getting

Help section.

Connecting your unit to a USB Host device, such as a PC or Mac, is extremely simple. Follow the steps below:

1. Connect the mini-B end of the included USB cable to the USB connector on PhotoBank.

2. Attach the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your PC, Mac, or hub.

3. Turn on PhotoBank.

The drive will mount automatically and a drive letter representing

PhotoBank hard disk will appear in My Computer (Windows) or a new icon will appear on the desktop (Macintosh). Furthermore, three (3) more drive letters will appear representing each of the three card reader slots.

The USB icon will appear on your PhotoBank display indicating that a

USB connection has been established.

Note: If you are using a USB 1.1 port on your Windows computer, the following cautionary note may appear on your display: Hi-Speed USB Device plugged into non-Hi-Speed

USB hub. This does not indicate a problem because

PhotoBank is compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports. Simply close the message and proceed. However, in this case PhotoBank will operate only at USB 1.1 speeds.

Storing and Transferring Data via USB

Once your drive and internal card readers are connected to a computer via

USB, they can be accessed and used like any other removable disk. You can drag files to your unit’s icon to copy them, navigate to your unit in

Open or Save dialog boxes, or delete files stored on your unit. For information on copying, opening, or deleting files, consult your computer’s documentation.

Disconnecting PhotoBank from a PC or Mac Host

Your PhotoBank is hot-swappable; it can be connected and disconnected without restarting your computer. To disconnect your drive at any time,

perform the following steps. You can also disconnect your hard drive at any time while your computer is powered off.

Note: Please be careful to follow the correct procedure when disconnecting your unit. Simply unplugging the unit without first following the instructions below may result in damage to your unit and/or loss of data.

For Windows Users:

1. If you have files located on your PhotoBank open in any applications, close them.

Tray.

3. Select your PhotoBank drive from the menu that appears.

4. After a moment, Windows will display a message that your hardware can be safely removed.

For Mac OS Users:

1. If you have files located on your PhotoBank open in any applications, close them.

2. Locate the icon for your PhotoBank on the desktop, and drag it to the trash.

Warranty Terms

SmartDisk Corporation warrants its products to be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase or 3 years from the date of manufacture, whichever occurs first. Products purchased in European Union countries covered by Directive 1999/44/EC are warranted for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase. SmartDisk's sole obligation with respect to claims of non-conformance made within the warranty period described above shall be, at its option, to repair or replace any item of

Equipment that SmartDisk, in its sole discretion, determines to be defective. The

Customer shall obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number from

SmartDisk prior to returning any Equipment to SmartDisk under this warranty by contacting Technical Support (see www.SmartDisk.com). The Customer shall prepay shipping charges for Equipment returned to SmartDisk for warranty service, and SmartDisk shall pay freight charges for the return of the Equipment to the

Customer, excluding customs duties or taxes, if any. All returns require a dated original proof of purchase and a letter explaining the problem. SmartDisk

Corporation will not be responsible for items returned without an RMA or improperly packaged. Replacement Equipment shall be new or like new in performance and shall be warranted for the remaining duration of the warranty term of the non-conforming Equipment. SmartDisk Corporation will not be responsible for recovery of customer data from returned products that incorporate data storage.

All replaced Equipment shall become the property of SmartDisk. Any claims of defects not made within the warranty period shall be deemed waived by Customer.

SmartDisk's warranty obligations hereunder are expressly conditioned upon (i.) the

Products being properly installed, used and maintained at all times by Customer;

(ii.) the Products not being subject to unusual mechanical stress or unusual electrical or environmental conditions or other acts of God; (iii.) the Products not being subjected to misuse, accident or any unauthorized installation/deinstallation by

Customer or other third party; (iv.) the Products not being altered or modified in an unauthorized manner, unless approved in writing or otherwise performed by

SmartDisk and (v.) Customer promptly installing all Product revisions that have been released for such Products by SmartDisk throughout the warranty term.

SmartDisk does not warrant that the Products will operate in any specific combination that may be selected for use by Customer or that the operation of the

Products will be uninterrupted or error free, or that all non-conformance or defects will be remedied. Additionally, SmartDisk shall have no warranty obligations for any failure of the Products to conform to the applicable product specifications resulting from the combination of any Product(s) with hardware and/or software not supplied by SmartDisk. If it is determined that any Product(s) reported as defective or non-conforming by Customer during the warranty period is not defective or nonconforming, SmartDisk may, at its option, charge Customer for any labor provided and expenses incurred by SmartDisk in connection with such determination, at

SmartDisk's then current rates.

SmartDisk Corporation shall not be responsible for unauthorized sale or misrepresentation by unauthorized third party resellers. SmartDisk warranties are not transferable with ownership. Products purchased by auction, yard sale, flea market or purchased as demo units may not be covered under SmartDisk’s warranty.

THE WARRANTIES OF SMARTDISK AND REMEDIES OF CUSTOMER SET

FORTH IN THIS SECTION ARE EXCLUSIVE AND ARE GIVEN BY

SMARTDISK AND ACCEPTED BY CUSTOMER IN LIEU OF ANY AND ALL

OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING

WITHOUT LIMITATION, ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY

AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ALL SUCH OTHER

Introduction

PhotoBank est un dispositif portatif innovateur qui vous permet d’archiver et de gérer vos fichiers photos à partir de votre appareil photo numérique. PhotoBank comprend une batterie intégrée, des logements de lecteurs de carte mémoire, un disque dur haute capacité, un écran d’état et une interface USB haute vitesse. Une fois que l’unité est connectée correctement à votre ordinateur tournant sous un système d’exploitation récent, vous serez en mesure de l’utiliser comme vous utiliseriez un disque dur interne pour l’exécution de fonctions d’archivage des données.

Avant d’utiliser PhotoBank pour la première fois, voici quelques informations importantes à retenir à propos de votre nouveau produit.

Commandes, connecteurs et indicateurs

Familiarisez-vous d’abord avec l’affichage, les touches de commande et les divers connecteurs sur l’unité.

Surface de haut– Affichage

Le long de la surface du haut, vous trouverez l’écran d’état. Cet écran affiche l’état actuel lorsque l’unité est sous tension. Voyez la figure cidessous pour une description des icônes et des informations fournies par l’écran.

1. Icônes de carte mémoire. Lorsque chaque type de carte est inséré, son icône correspondante sera affichée ici.

2. Icône de carte mémoire générique. L’icône est affichée quand tout type de carte est inséré et détecté.

3. Pourcentage de la progression de la fonction de copie. Après que le contenu intégral de la carte a été copié correctement,

9. Taille des données de la carte mémoire. Quantité de données à copier exprimée à trois chiffres. Si votre carte contient plus de

1 Go de données, l’affichage affichera seulement 999 Mo, même si la quantité intégrale de vos données sera copiée en toute sécurité.

Zone du panneau latéral avant

Le long du panneau latéral avant de l’unité, vous trouverez le connecteur

USB pour le raccordement à l’ordinateur, le connecteur d’entrée CC pour la connexion à l’adaptateur d’alimentation CA et la DEL d’état. Lorsque l’adaptateur d’alimentation est connecté, la DEL de charge de batterie s’allumera en rouge pendant la recharge et en vert une fois la recharge terminée. La DEL s’allumera aussi en rouge chaque fois que vous êtes connecté à un ordinateur via l’interface USB.

Zone du panneau latéral droit

Le panneau latéral droit contient le logement de carte mémoire pour vos cartes mémoire Smart Media (SM).

Le panneau latéral gauche contient le logement de carte mémoire pour vos cartes mémoire Secure Digital (SD), Multimedia Card (MMC),

Zone du panneau latéral arrière

La zone du panneau latéral arrière contient le logement de carte mémoire pour vos cartes mémoire Compact Flash (CF) et Microdrive (MD).

Recharge de la batterie

PhotoBank utilise une batterie rechargeable au lithium-ion intégrée pour alimenter le dispositif. Lorsque la batterie est épuisée, il faudra habituellement 3 heures pour la recharger à fond. Il se peut que votre nouvelle batterie ne soit que partiellement chargée, donc avant d’alimenter l’unité depuis la batterie, rechargez d’abord la batterie. À noter que peu importe l’état de la batterie, vous pouvez toujours alimenter l’unité depuis l’adaptateur CA raccordé à une prise de courant.

Pour charger la batterie, branchez l’adaptateur CA dans une prise murale, puis branchez la fiche CC de l’adaptateur dans la prise d’entrée CC de l’unité. Quand l’adaptateur d’alimentation est connecté, la DEL de charge

de batterie s’allume en rouge pendant la recharge et s’allume en vert une fois la recharge terminée.

À propos du disque dur

Le disque dur interne de PhotoBank est livré préformaté de l’usine en format FAT32.

Remarque : La capacité varie selon le modèle. Il se peut que votre système d’exploitation et l’écran PhotoBank n’affichent pas la capacité totale. 1 Go = 1 000 000 000 octets.

Votre disque dur interne est un système d’archivage électronique complexe et doit être manipulé avec soin comme vous manipuleriez un ordinateur portable sensible ou un autre produit électronique grand public

à la fine pointe. Ne le soumettez pas à des chocs, à de hautes températures ou à des champs magnétiques puissants.

Mise sous tension et hors tension

Pour mettre l’unité sous tension, appuyez sur le bouton marche/arrêt.

Pour mettre l’unité hors tension, appuyez de nouveau sur le bouton marche/arrêt. PhotoBank s’éteindra automatiquement après 30 secondes d’inactivité. Cette fonction d’extinction automatique est conçue pour

économiser la charge de la batterie interne.

Copie du contenu de la carte mémoire sur le disque dur

1. Insérez votre carte dans le logement de carte PhotoBank approprié.

2. Appuyez sur le bouton marche/arrêt pour allumer l’unité.

Vous noterez que l’icône de carte sera affichée à l’écran, et vous pourrez également voir la quantité de données contenues sur la carte.

3. Appuyez sur la touche Copy pour entamer la copie des données sur le disque dur. Tous les fichiers de la carte, y compris la structure du dossier de la carte, seront copiés dans un dossier sur le disque dur. Vous noterez que la plupart des appareils photo numériques archivent les photos au sein d’un ou de plusieurs dossiers dans la carte mémoire.

Pendant le processus de copie, vous pouvez surveiller la progression à l’aide de la barre de progression sur l’écran. Le processus de transfert est terminé lorsque le pourcentage de fichiers transférés indiqué à l’écran atteint 100 %. Après le transfert, les fichiers de la carte mémoire resteront archivés sur la carte. Si vous souhaitez utiliser la carte pour prendre d’autres photos, vous pouvez utiliser votre appareil photo pour supprimer les anciennes photos ou pour reformater la carte.

Le dossier de destination est archivé sous un dossier principal commun appelé CARDS. Chaque dossier de destination se voit attribuer un nouveau nom composé d’une abréviation à deux caractères selon le type de carte utilisée, suivi d’un numéro à 4 chiffres. Étant donné qu’un nouveau dossier est créé chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bouton

Copy, PhotoBank n’écrasera pas les fichiers précédents.

Une fois le transfert des fichiers terminé, vous pouvez appuyer sur le bouton marche/arrêt pour éteindre l’unité ou simplement atteindre

30 secondes pour que l’unité s’éteigne automatiquement.

Pendant le processus de transfert des fichiers, PhotoBank ne réagira pas à l’activation du bouton marche/arrêt. Cela empêche la corruption

accidentelle des données. Si vous souhaitez mettre un terme à une copie en cours, retirez simplement la carte, et l’écran indiquera un processus de copie abandonné en affichant un « X » sur l’icône de la carte mémoire.

Connexion à un ordinateur

Si vous avez copié des photos de votre carte mémoire sur PhotoBank et souhaitez à présent les transférer sur votre ordinateur, vous pouvez le faire facilement à l’aide de l’interface USB.

Remarque : Si votre ordinateur tourne sous Windows 98

Deuxième Édition, vous aurez besoin d’un logiciel additionnel que vous pouvez télécharger à partir du site Web

SmartDisk. Consultez la section Aide.

La connexion de votre unité à un périphérique hôte USB, tel un PC ou

Mac, est extrêmement simple. Suivez les étapes ci-après.

1. Branchez l’extrémité mini-B du câble USB à un connecteur

USB de PhotoBank.

2. Branchez l’autre extrémité du câble USB dans un port USB ou sur votre PC, Mac ou concentrateur.

3. Mettez PhotoBank sous tension.

L’unité sera montée automatiquement et une lettre d’unité représentant le disque dur PhotoBank apparaîtra dans Poste de travail (Windows) ou une nouvelle icône apparaîtra sur le bureau (Macintosh). De plus, trois (3) autres lettres d’unité apparaîtront, représentant chacune les trois logements de lecteurs de carte. L’icône USB apparaîtra dans un écran

connecté à un hub USB basse vitesse) Cela n’indique pas un problème du fait que PhotoBank est compatible à la fois avec les ports USB 1.1 et USB 2.0. Fermez simplement le message et continuez. Toutefois, dans ce cas PhotoBank fonctionnera seulement à des vitesses USB 1.1.

Archivage et transfert de données via le port USB

Une fois que vos lecteurs d’unité et interne sont raccordés à votre ordinateur via le port USB, vous pouvez y accéder et les utiliser comme avec un disque amovible. Vous pouvez glisser les fichiers vers l’icône de votre unité pour les copier, naviguer vers votre unité dans les boîtes de dialogue Open ou Save ou supprimer les fichiers archivés sur votre unité.

Déconnexion de PhotoBank d’un hôte PC ou Mac

Votre PhotoBank autorise le transfert à chaud; il peut être connecté et déconnecté sans redémarrer votre ordinateur. Pour déconnecter votre unité en tout temps, effectuez les étapes ci-après. Vous pouvez aussi déconnecter votre disque dur en tout temps pendant que votre ordinateur est hors tension.

Remarque : Suivez sans faute la procédure appropriée lors de la déconnexion de votre unité. Le débranchement de votre unité sans avoir d’abord suivi les instructions peut occasionner des dommages à votre unité et/ou des pertes de données.

Pour les utilisateurs Windows :

1. Si des fichiers se trouvant sur votre PhotoBank sont ouverts dans une application, fermez-les.

2. Cliquez sur le bouton Unplug ou Eject Hardware

(Débrancher ou éjecter le matériel) dans barre d’état système.

3. Sélectionnez l’unité PhotoBank à partir du menu qui s’affiche.

4. Après quelques instants, Windows affiche un message indiquant que votre matériel peut être retiré en toute sécurité.

Einführung

Bei PhotoBank handelt es sich um ein innovatives Handheld-Gerät, mit dem Sie die Fotodateien von Ihrer Digitalkamera speichern und verwalten können. PhotoBank ist mit einem integrierten Akku,

Steckplätzen zum Lesen von Speicherkarten, einer Festplatte mit hoher

Speicherkapazität, einem Statusdisplay und einer Hi-Speed-USB-

Schnittstelle ausgestattet. Sobald Ihr Gerät richtig an einen Computer mit einer neueren Betriebssystemversion angeschlossen ist, können Sie es wie jedes andere externe Festplattenlaufwerk zum Speichern von Daten nutzen.

Bevor Sie PhotoBank zum ersten Mal verwenden, sollten Sie einige wichtige Merkmale Ihres neuen Produkts kennen lernen.

Steuerelemente, Anschlüsse und Anzeigen

Machen Sie sich im Vorfeld mit dem Display, den Kontrolltasten und den verschiedenen Anschlüssen am Gerät vertraut.

Display auf der Oberseite

Auf der Oberseite des Geräts befindet sich das Statusdisplay, das

Aufschluss über den aktuellen Status des eingeschalteten Geräts gibt. Die

Symbole und Informationen, die auf dem Display angezeigt werden, sind nachstehend beschrieben.

1. Symbole für Speicherkarten. Sobald eine Karte eines bestimmten Typs eingesteckt wird, erscheint das zugehörige

Symbol an dieser Stelle.

2. Symbol für beliebige Speicherkarten. Dieses Symbol wird angezeigt, wenn eine beliebige Karte eingesteckt und erkannt wird.

3. Status der Kopierfunktion in Prozent. Wenn der gesamte

Inhalt der Karte erfolgreich kopiert wurde, wird zur

Bestätigung der Wert „100%“ angezeigt.

4. USB-Symbol. Dieses Symbol wird angezeigt, wenn

PhotoBank über die USB-Schnittstelle mit einem Computer verbunden ist.

5. Symbol für das Festplattenlaufwerk. Mit diesem Symbol wird bestätigt, dass das interne Festplattenlaufwerk betriebsbereit ist.

6. Freier Festplattenspeicher. Diese zweistellige Zahl gibt den freien Festplattenspeicher an.

7. Akkuladeanzeige. Wenn Sie nur einen oder keinen Balken sehen, muss der Akku neu aufgeladen werden.

8. Statusanzeige für die Kopierfunktion. Dieser Balken wird von links nach rechts aufgefüllt und zeigt den Fortschritt des

Kopiervorgangs an.

9. Datenmenge auf der Speicherkarte. Diese dreistellige Zahl zeigt die zu kopierende Datenmenge an. Wenn die

Speicherkarte über 1 GB Daten enthält, wird hier zwar nur der

Wert 999 MB angezeigt, aber alle Daten werden sicher kopiert.

Vorderseite

Vorne am Gerät befindet sich die USB-Schnittstelle für den Anschluss an einen Computer, die Gleichstrom-Eingangsbuchse für den Anschluss an den mitgelieferten Wechselstromadapter und die Status-LED. Wenn der

Netzadapter angeschlossen ist, leuchtet die Akkulade-LED rot, solange der Akku aufgeladen wird. Wenn der Akku voll aufgeladen ist, leuchtet die LED grün. Die LED leuchtet auch rot, wenn das PhotoBank-Gerät

über die USB-Schnittstelle an einen Computer angeschlossen ist.

Rechte Seite

Rechts am Gerät befindet sich der Steckplatz für die Smart Media (SM)-

Speicherkarten.

Linke Seite

Links am Gerät befindet sich der Steckplatz für die Secure Digital (SD)-,

Multimedia Card (MMC)-, Memory Stick (MS)- und Memory Stick Pro-

Speicherkarten. Hier finden Sie auch den Ein/Aus-Schalter sowie die

COPY-Taste.

Rückseite

An der Rückseite des Geräts befindet sich der Steckplatz für die Compact

Flash (CF)- und Microdrive (MD)-Speicherkarten.

Akku aufladen

Wenn das PhotoBank-Gerät netzunabhängig betrieben wird, bezieht es seinen Strom von einem integrierten wiederaufladbaren Lithium-Ionen-

Akku. Sind die Akkureserven verbraucht, dauert es in der Regel bis zu 3

Stunden, bis der Akku wieder voll aufgeladen ist. Ihr neuer Akku ist unter Umständen nicht voll aufgeladen. Sie müssen ihn deshalb aufladen, bevor Sie das Gerät mit Batteriestrom betreiben. Beachten Sie, dass Sie das Gerät immer mit angeschlossenem Wechselstromadapter betreiben können, ganz gleich, in welchem Zustand sich der Akku befindet.

Um den Akku aufzuladen, stecken Sie den mitgelieferten

Wechselstromadapter in eine Wandsteckdose. Stecken Sie dann den

Gleichstromstecker des Adapters in den Gleichstromanschluss am Gerät.

Wenn der Netzadapter angeschlossen ist, leuchtet die Akkulade-LED rot, solange der Akku aufgeladen wird. Wenn der Akku voll aufgeladen ist, leuchtet die LED grün.

Grundlegendes zur Festplatte

Die interne PhotoBank-Festplatte wird werkseitig im FAT32-Format vorformatiert.

Hinweis: Die Kapazität ist modellabhängig. Ihr

Betriebssystem und das PhotoBank-Display geben unter

Umständen eine geringere Kapazität in Gigabytes an. 1 GB =

1.000.000.000 Bytes.

Die interne Festplatte ist ein komplexes elektronisches Speichersystem und sollte wie jedes andere portable Gerät oder Elektronikprodukt mit

State-of-the-Art-Technologie behutsam behandelt werden. Setzen Sie die

Festplatte nicht Schock, hohen Temperaturen oder starken magnetischen

Feldern aus.

Gerät ein- und ausschalten

Zum Einschalten des Geräts drücken Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter. Drücken

Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter erneut, um das Gerät wieder auszuschalten. Das

PhotoBank-Gerät schaltet sich nach 30 Sekunden Inaktivität automatisch ab, um Batteriestrom zu sparen.

Inhalt der Speicherkarte auf das

Festplattenlaufwerk kopieren

Um den gesamten Inhalt der Speicherkarte Ihrer Kamera auf das interne

Festplattenlaufwerk zu kopieren, müssen Sie nur ein paar einfache

Schritte ausführen:

1. Stecken Sie Ihre Karte in den entsprechenden PhotoBank-

Kartensteckplatz ein.

2. Drücken Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter, um das Gerät einzuschalten. Beachten Sie, dass das Symbol für Ihre Karte auf dem Display erscheint, aus dem auch die Menge der auf der Karte gespeicherten Daten hervorgeht.

3. Drücken Sie die COPY-Taste, um die Daten auf das

Festplattenlaufwerk zu kopieren. Alle auf der Karte gespeicherten Dateien werden mitsamt der Ordnerstruktur in einen Ordner auf der Festplatte kopiert. Beachten Sie, dass die meisten Digitalkameras Fotos in einem oder mehreren

Ordnern auf der Speicherkarte ablegen.

Sie können den Status des Kopiervorgangs an der Statusanzeige auf dem

Display erkennen. Der Kopiervorgang ist abgeschlossen, wenn auf dem

Display der Wert 100% für die Dateiübertragung angezeigt wird. Die

Dateien sind nach der Übertragung nach wie vor auf der Speicherkarte vorhanden. Wenn Sie die Karte zum Speichern weiterer Bilder nutzen möchten, löschen Sie die alten Dateien mithilfe Ihrer Kamera oder formatieren Sie die Karte neu.

Der Zielordner befindet sich unter dem Hauptordner CARDS. Jeder

Zielordner erhält einen neuen Namen, der sich aus der 2-stelligen

Kurzform des Kartentyps und einer darauffolgenden 4-stelligen Nummer zusammensetzt. Da bei jedem Drücken der COPY-Taste ein neuer Ordner

angelegt wird, werden bereits auf dem PhotoBank-Gerät gespeicherte

Dateien nicht überschrieben.

Wenn die Dateiübertragung abgeschlossen ist, können Sie den Ein/Aus-

Schalter drücken, um das Gerät auszuschalten. Sie können auch einfach

30 Sekunden warten, bis sich das Gerät von selbst abschaltet.

PhotoBank reagiert nicht, wenn Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter während der

Dateiübertragung betätigen. Damit wird verhindert, dass Daten versehentlich beschädigt werden. Wenn Sie einen laufenden

Kopiervorgang abbrechen möchten, entfernen Sie einfach die Karte. Auf dem Display wird in diesem Fall ein 'X' im Speicherkarten-Symbol angezeigt, das darauf hindeutet, dass der Kopiervorgang abgebrochen wurde.

Anschluss an einen Computer

Wenn Sie Fotos von Ihrer Speicherkarte auf das PhotoBank-Gerät kopiert haben und die Fotos anschließend auf Ihren Computer übertragen möchten, verwenden Sie hierzu einfach die USB-Schnittstelle.

Hinweis: Wenn auf Ihrem Computer Windows 98 Second

Edition läuft, brauchen Sie zusätzliche Software, die Sie von der SmartDisk Website herunterladen können. Weitere

Informationen finden Sie im Abschnitt So erhalten Sie

Hilfe.

Der Anschluss Ihres Geräts an ein USB-Hostgerät wie einen PC oder

Macintosh ist denkbar einfach. Führen Sie die folgenden Schritte aus:

1. Schließen Sie das Mini-B-Ende des mitgelieferten USB-

Kabels an den USB-Stecker am PhotoBank-Gerät an.

2. Schließen Sie das andere Ende des USB-Kabels an einen freien USB-Anschluss am PC, Macintosh oder Hub an.

3. Schalten Sie das PhotoBank-Gerät ein.

PhotoBank wird automatisch erkannt und installiert. Bei Windows-

Rechnern erscheint ein Buchstabe für die PhotoBank-Festplatte unter

Arbeitsplatz; bei Macintosh-Computern ein neues Symbol auf dem

Schreibtisch. Darüber hinaus werden insgesamt drei (3)

Laufwerkbuchstaben für die drei Kartenleser-Steckplätze angezeigt. Auf dem PhotoBank-Display erscheint das USB-Symbol, das anzeigt, dass die

USB-Verbindung hergestellt ist.

Hinweis: Wenn Ihr Windows-Rechner einen USB 1.1-

Anschluss aufweist, erscheint möglicherweise der folgende

Warnhinweis auf Ihrer Anzeige: Hochgeschwindigkeits-

USB-Gerät an Nicht-Hochgeschwindigkeits-USB-Hub

angeschlossen. Dies bedeutet nicht, dass ein Problem besteht, da PhotoBank sowohl mit USB 1.1- als auch mit

USB 2.0-Anschlüssen kompatibel ist. Schließen Sie einfach die Meldung und fahren Sie fort. Beachten Sie jedoch, dass

PhotoBank in diesem Fall nur USB 1.1-Geschwindigkeiten unterstützt.

Daten über USB speichern und übertragen

Sobald Laufwerk und interne Kartenleser mittels USB mit einem

Computer verbunden sind, können sie wie jeder andere

Wechseldatenträger genutzt werden. Sie können Dateien auf das

Gerätesymbol ziehen, um sie zu kopieren, mithilfe der Dialogfelder

Öffnen und Speichern zum Gerät navigieren oder darauf gespeicherte

Dateien löschen. Informationen zum Kopieren, Öffnen und Löschen von

Dateien finden Sie in der Begleitdokumentation für Ihren Computer.

PhotoBank von einem PC- oder Mac-Host entfernen

Das PhotoBank-Gerät kann bei laufendem Computer angeschlossen und entfernt werden. Sie brauchen den Computer nicht neu zu starten. Führen

Sie die unten beschriebenen Schritte für Ihr Betriebssystem aus, um das

Laufwerk jederzeit abzuziehen. Sie können das Laufwerk auch jederzeit vom Computer entfernen, wenn dieser ausgeschaltet ist.

Hinweis: Gehen Sie bitte genau nach Anleitung vor, wenn

Sie das Gerät vom Computer entfernen. Wenn Sie das Gerät einfach nur abziehen, ohne die unten stehenden

Anweisungen zu beachten, kann es beschädigt werden oder

Daten können verloren gehen.

Windows-Benutzer:

1. Schließen Sie alle Dateien, die auf dem PhotoBank-Gerät gespeichert und in Anwendungen geöffnet sind.

2. Klicken Sie in der Taskleiste auf Hardwarekomponente

entfernen oder auswerfen.

3. Wählen Sie das PhotoBank-Laufwerk aus dem daraufhin angezeigten Menü aus.

4. Wenige Sekunden später erscheint die Windows-Meldung, dass die Hardware entfernt werden kann.

Mac OS-Benutzer:

1. Schließen Sie alle Dateien, die auf dem PhotoBank-Gerät gespeichert und in Anwendungen geöffnet sind.

2. Ziehen Sie das Symbol für das PhotoBank-Gerät vom

Schreibtisch in den Papierkorb.

Garantiebedingungen

Die SmartDisk Corporation gewährleistet, dass ihre Produkte unter normalen

Gebrauchs- und Servicebedingungen für einen Zeitraum von einem (1) Jahr ab

Kaufdatum bzw. drei (3) Jahren ab Herstellungsdatum, je nachdem, welches zuerst zutrifft, frei von Material- und Verarbeitungsmängeln sind. Produkte, die in einem

EU-Land gekauft wurden, in dem die Richtlinie 1999/44/EC Anwendung findet, erhalten eine Garantie von zwei (2) Jahren ab Kaufdatum. SmartDisks einzige

Verpflichtung in Bezug auf Reklamationen, die innerhalb der oben beschriebenen

Garantiezeit gemacht werden, ist, das Produkt nach eigenem Ermessen zu reparieren oder zu ersetzen, falls es von SmartDisk für defekt erklärt wurde. Bevor der Kunde ein Gerät, das unter diese Garantie fällt, an SmartDisk zurückschickt, muss er beim

Technical Support (siehe www.SmartDisk.com) eine RMA-Nummer (Return

Merchandise Authorization) anfordern. Der Kunde muss die Versandkosten bei

Einsenden des Geräts an SmartDisk im Voraus zahlen. SmartDisk übernimmt die

Versandkosten für die Rücksendung des reparierten Geräts, ausschließlich eventuell anfallender Zollgebühren oder Steuern. Dem eingesandten defekten Gerät müssen der datierte Originalkaufbeleg sowie eine Problembeschreibung beigefügt werden.

SmartDisk Corporation übernimmt keinerlei Verantwortung für Geräte, die ohne

RMA-Nummer oder unzulänglich verpackt eingesendet werden. Ersatzgeräte sind neu oder wie neu in ihrer Leistung. Ihre Garantiezeit entspricht der noch verbleibenden Laufzeit der Originalgarantie auf das Erstgerät. SmartDisk

Corporation übernimmt keine Verantwortung für die Wiederherstellung von

Kundendaten, die sich auf zurückgesandten Produkten mit Datenspeicher befinden.

Das ursprünglich eingesendete Gerät verbleibt im Besitz von SmartDisk. Der Kunde hat kein Anrecht auf kostenlose Beseitigung von Mängeln, die nicht innerhalb der

Garantiefrist beanstandet werden.

Die hier ausgeführten Garantieverpflichtungen von SmartDisk unterliegen ausdrücklich der Bedingung, dass (i) der Kunde die Produkte zu allen Zeiten ordnungsgemäß installiert, angewendet und gepflegt hat; (ii) die Produkte nicht ungewöhnlicher mechanischer Belastung, ungewöhnlichen elektrischen oder

Umweltbedingungen oder anderen Einflüssen höherer Gewalt ausgesetzt wurden;

(iii) die Produkte nicht Missbrauch, Unfällen oder unautorisierter

Installation/Deinstallation durch den Kunden oder Dritte ausgesetzt wurden; (iv) die

Produkte nicht unautorisiert verändert oder modifiziert wurden, es sei denn nach schriftlicher Genehmigung oder anderweitig durch SmartDisk ausgeführt, und (v) der Kunde alle Produktrevisionen, die während der Garantiezeit von SmartDisk für solche Produkte veröffentlicht wurden, umgehend installiert hat. SmartDisk garantiert weder, dass die Produkte in jeder beliebigen, durch den Kunden zur

Anwendung gewählten Kombination funktionieren oder dass der Betrieb der

Produkte ununterbrochen und fehlerfrei sein wird, noch dass alle Fehler und

Defekte behoben werden. Außerdem ist SmartDisk nicht zu Garantieleistungen verpflichtet, sollten die Produkte aufgrund der Kombination mit Hardware und/oder

Software anderer Hersteller nicht mit den entsprechenden Produktspezifikationen

übereinstimmen. Sollte sich herausstellen, dass die während der Garantiezeit durch den Kunden als fehlerhaft oder defekt eingesendeten Produkte weder fehlerhaft noch defekt sind, kann SmartDisk nach eigenem Ermessen dem Kunden die entstandenen Arbeits- und sonstigen Kosten gemäß der dann geltenden Preise berechnen.

Die SmartDisk Corporation übernimmt keine Verantwortung für den unberechtigten

Verkauf oder falsche Darstellungen seitens nicht autorisierter Drittanbieter. Die

SmartDisk-Garantieleistungen lassen sich bei einem Besitzwechsel nicht

Introduzione

PhotoBank è un apparecchio palmare innovativo che consente di memorizzare e gestire i file delle fotografie scattate con la fotocamera digitale. PhotoBank include una batteria interna, alloggiamenti per i lettori di memory card, un disco rigido ad alta capacità, un display di stato e un'interfaccia USB Hi-Speed. Dopo aver collegato correttamente l'unità a un computer dotato di un sistema operativo recente, sarà possibile utilizzarla come un qualsiasi disco rigido esterno per eseguire funzioni di archiviazione dei dati.

Prima di cominciare a utilizzare PhotoBank, è necessario conoscerne alcuni aspetti importanti.

Controlli, connettori e indicatori

Innanzitutto occorre acquisire una certa familiarità con il display, i tasti dei controlli e i vari connettori dell'unità.

Parte superiore-Display

Nella parte superiore si trova il display di stato, in cui, quando l'unità è accesa, è mostrato lo stato corrente. Vedere la figura in basso per una descrizione delle icone e delle informazioni presenti sul display.

1. Icone delle memory card. Quando viene inserita una memory card, qui ne viene mostrata l'icona.

2. Icona generica delle memory card. Questa icona viene visualizzata quando viene inserito e rilevato un qualsiasi tipo di memory card.

3. Percentuale di avanzamento della funzione di copia. Una volta copiato l'intero contenuto di una memory card, viene mostrato il numero "100%" come conferma dell'esecuzione dell'operazione.

4. Icona USB. Questa icona viene visualizzata quando si è collegati a un computer mediante l'interfaccia USB.

5. Icona del disco rigido. Questa icona viene visualizzata per confermare lo stato di pronto del disco rigido interno.

6. Spazio libero su disco. Un'indicazione a due cifre che mostra lo spazio libero rimasto sul disco.

7. Indicatore di carica della batteria. Quando è mostrata una sola barretta o nessuna, è necessario ricaricare la batteria.

8. Barra di avanzamento della funzione di copia. Questo grafico si completa da sinistra a destra e indica l'avanzamento del processo di copia.

9. Dimensione dei dati della memory card. Un'indicazione a tre cifre che mostra la quantità di dati da copiare. Se la memory card contiene più di 1 GB di dati, sul display viene indicato solo 999 MB, anche se verranno copiati correttamente tutti i dati.

Pannello laterale anteriore

Sul pannello laterale anteriore dell'unità è presente il connettore USB per il collegamento a un computer, un connettore di ingresso CC per la connessione dell'adattatore di alimentazione CA in dotazione e il LED di stato. Quando l'adattatore di alimentazione viene collegato, il LED di carica della batteria è rosso durante il caricamento e diventa verde quando la carica viene completata. Il LED è rosso anche quando si esegue il collegamento a un computer mediante l'interfaccia USB.

Pannello laterale destro

Sul pannello laterale destro è presente l'alloggiamento per le memory card Smart Media (SM).

Sul pannello laterale sinistro si trova l'alloggiamento per le memory card

Secure Digital (SD), Multimedia Card (MMC), Memory Stick (MS) e

Memory Stick Pro. Inoltre è presente il pulsante On/Off e il pulsante di copia.

Pannello laterale posteriore

Sul pannello laterale posteriore è presente l'alloggiamento per le memory card Compact Flash (CF) e Microdrive (MD).

Caricamento della batteria

PhotoBank utilizza una batteria interna ricaricabile a ioni di litio per fornire l'alimentazione al prodotto quando è utilizzato in remoto. Quando la batteria è scarica, normalmente richiede tre ore circa per ricaricarsi completamente. È possibile che la batteria nuova sia solo parzialmente caricata, pertanto, prima di utilizzare l'unità a batteria è necessario effettuare una ricarica completa. Tenere presente che, a prescindere dallo stato della batteria, è sempre possibile far funzionare l'unità mentre l'adattatore CA è collegato.

Per caricare la batteria, inserire l'adattatore CA fornito in una presa elettrica, quindi collegare lo spinotto CC dell'adattatore alla presa di

ingresso CC sull'unità. Quando l'adattatore di alimentazione è collegato, il LED di carica della batteria è rosso durante il caricamento e diventa verde quando la carica viene completata.

Informazioni sul disco rigido

Il disco rigido interno di PhotoBank è stato formattato in fabbrica nel formato FAT32.

Nota: la capacità dipende dal modello. È possibile che la capacità riportata dal sistema operativo e dal dispaly di

PhotoBank sia leggermente inferiore a quella effettiva. 1 GB

= 1.000.000.000 byte.

Il disco rigido interno è un sistema di memorizzazione elettronico complesso, pertanto va maneggiato con la stessa cura che si adotta per qualsiasi delicato computer portatile o prodotto elettronico di ultima generazione. Non sottoporlo a urti, elevate temperature o forti campi magnetici.

Accensione e spegnimento dell'unità

Per accendere l'unità, premere il pulsante On/Off. Per spegnerla, premere nuovamente il pulsante On/Off. PhotoBank si spegne automaticamente dopo 30 secondi di inattività, per risparmiare la carica della batteria interna.

Funzionamento

Copia del contenuto delle memory card sul disco rigido

Per copiare il contenuto completo della memory card della fotocamera sul disco rigido interno sono necessarie poche semplici operazioni.

1. Inserire la memory card nell'alloggiamento di PhotoBank appropriato.

2. Premere il pulsante On/Off per accendere l'unità. Tenere presente che l'icona della memory card viene visualizzata nel display insieme con la quantità di dati contenuti.

3. Premere il pulsante di copia per avviare la copia dei dati sul disco rigido. Tutti i file della memory card, inclusa la struttura delle cartelle, vengono copiati in una cartella sul disco rigido.

Tenere presente che molte fotocamere digitali memorizzano le foto in una o più cartelle sulla memory card.

Durante il processo di copia, è possibile controllarne l'avanzamento sulla relativa barra nel display. Il processo di trasferimento è completo quando la percentuale visualizzata raggiunge il 100%. Dopo il trasferimento, i file contenuti sulla memory card non vengono eliminati. Se si desidera utilizzare la memory card per altre foto, è possibile utilizzare la fotocamera per eliminare i file vecchi o per riformattare la memory card.

La cartella di destinazione viene memorizzata in una cartella principale comune denominata CARDS. A ciascuna cartella di destinazione viene assegnato un nuovo nome composto da un'abbreviazione di due caratteri del nome della memory card, seguita da un numero sequenziale di 4 cifre.

Poiché ogni volta che si preme il pulsante di copia viene creata una nuova cartella, i file precedenti non vengono sovrascritti.

Una volta completato il trasferimento dei file, è possibile premere il pulsante On/Off per spegnere l'unità oppure attendere semplicemente 30 secondi per lo spegnimento automatico.

Durante il processo di trasferimento dei file, se viene premuto il pulsante

On/Off, PhotoBank non risponde per impedire il danneggiamento accidentale dei dati. Per terminare una copia in corso, è sufficiente rimuovere la memory card. Per indicare l'interruzione dell'operazione, sul display viene visualizzata una 'X' sull'icona della memory card.

Collegamento a un computer

Se, dopo aver copiato le foto dalla memory card a PhotoBank, si desidera trasferirle su un computer, è possibile farlo con facilità utilizzando semplicemente l'interfaccia USB.

Nota: se sul computer è eseguito Windows 98 Second

Edition, è necessario un software aggiuntivo che è possibile scaricare dal sito Web di SmartDisk. Consultare la sezione

Guida.

La connessione dell'unità a una periferica host USB, quale un PC o Mac,

è estremamente semplice. Procedere come illustrato di seguito:

1. Collegare l'estremità mini-B del cavo USB fornito al connettore USB su PhotoBank.

2. Connettere l'altra estremità del cavo USB a una porta USB disponibile sul PC, Mac o hub.

L'unità si carica automaticamente e in Risorse del computer (Windows) viene visualizzata una lettera che rappresenta il disco rigido di PhotoBank oppure, nel caso di computer Macintosh, viene visualizzata un'icona sulla

Scrivania. Inoltre, vengono visualizzate altre tre (3) lettere che rappresentano gli alloggiamenti dei tre lettori di memory card. Sul display di PhotoBank viene visualizzata l'icona USB ad indicare che è stata stabilita una connessione USB.

Nota: se si utilizza la porta USB 1.1 sul computer Windows,

è possibile sul display che venga visualizzata la seguente avvertenza: Periferica USB HI-SPEED collegata a hub di

tipo non HI-SPEED. Non si tratta di un problema perché

PhotoBank è compatibile sia con le porte USB 1.1 che con quelle USB 2.0. Pertanto è sufficiente chiudere il messaggio e proseguire. Tuttavia, in questo caso PhotoBank funziona alla velocità di USB 1.1.

Memorizzazione e trasferimento dei dati tramite USB

Dopo aver collegato l'unità e i lettori di memory card interni a un computer tramite USB, è possibile accedervi e utilizzarli come qualsiasi altro disco rimovibile. È possibile trascinare i file per copiarli, utilizzare le finestre di dialogo per l'apertura e il salvataggio oppure eliminare i file memorizzati sull'unità. Per informazioni sulla copia, l'apertura e l'eliminazione dei file, consultare la documentazione del computer.

Disconnessione di PhotoBank da un PC o da un host Mac

PhotoBank è un apparecchio hot-swap, ossia può essere collegato e scollegato senza dover riavviare il computer. Per disconnettere l'unità in qualsiasi momento, procedere come segue. È inoltre possibile disconnettere l'unità in qualunque momento mentre il computer è spento.

Nota: seguire attentamente la procedura corretta per disconnettere l'unità. Scollegarla senza seguire le istruzioni potrebbe danneggiare l'unità o provocare una perdita di dati.

Per gli utenti Windows:

1. Se vi sono file di PhotoBank aperti in qualsiasi applicazione, chiuderli.

2. Fare clic sul pulsante Scollegamento o rimozione di una

periferica hardware nella barra delle applicazioni.

4. Dopo un po' di tempo, viene visualizzato un messaggio che indica che è possibile rimuovere l'hardware.

Per gli utenti Mac OS:

1. Se vi sono file di PhotoBank aperti in qualsiasi applicazione, chiuderli.

Termini di garanzia

SmartDisk Corporation garantisce che il prodotto è privo di difetti nei materiali e nella fabbricazione in normali condizioni d'uso per un periodo di 1 anno dalla data di acquisto o di 3 anni dalla data di fabbricazione, a seconda di quale evento si verifichi prima. Introducción

PhotoBank es un innovador dispositivo manual que le permite almacenar y administrar sus archivos de fotos desde su cámara digital. PhotoBank incluye una batería incorporada, ranuras para lectura de tarjetas de memoria, una unidad de disco duro de gran capacidad, pantalla de estado e interfaz USB de alta velocidad. 7. Indicador de carga de la batería. Cuando se ve sólo una barra o no se ve ninguna, debe recargar la batería.

8. Barra de progreso de la función de copia. Este gráfico se rellenará de izquierda a derecha para indicar la progresión del proceso de copia.

9. Cantidad de datos en la tarjeta de memoria. Es una lectura de tres dígitos que indica la cantidad de datos que va a copiarse.

Si su tarjeta contiene más de 1 Gb de datos, la pantalla mostrará sólo 999 Mb, aunque se copiará la cantidad completa.

Área del panel frontal

En el panel de la parte frontal encontrará el conector USB para conexión a un ordenador, el conector de entrada cc para conexión al adaptador eléctrico ca incluido y la luz LED indicadora de estado. Cuando está conectado el adaptador eléctrico, el indicador LED de carga de la batería estará en rojo durante la carga y cambiará a verde con carga completa. El

LED también será de color rojo siempre que se encuentre conectado a un ordenador mediante la interfaz USB.

Área del panel lateral derecho

El área del panel derecho contiene la ranura para tarjeta de memoria para las tarjetas de memoria Smart Media (SM).

Carga de la batería

PhotoBank utiliza una batería recargable de ión de litio incorporada para alimentar el producto en uso remoto. Cuando la batería está completamente descargada, la carga completa tardará aproximadamente

3 horas. Su nueva batería puede estar sólo cargada en parte, de modo que debe cargarla antes de utilizar la unidad con esa alimentación exclusiva.

Recuerde que, independientemente del estado de la batería, siempre puede manejar la unidad con el adaptador ca conectado.

Para cargar la batería, debe enchufar el adaptador ca incluido en una toma de pared y, a continuación, enchufar el enchufe cc del adaptador en la toma de entrada cc de la unidad. Cuando está conectado el adaptador

eléctrico, el indicador LED de carga de la batería estará en rojo durante la carga y cambiará a verde con carga completa.

Sobre el disco duro

La unidad de disco duro interna de PhotoBank se entrega previamente formateada de fábrica en formato FAT32.

Nota: La capacidad depende del modelo. Su sistema operativo y la pantalla de PhotoBank pueden detectar una capacidad inferior. 1 GB = 1.000.000.000 bites.

Su unidad de disco duro es un complejo sistema de almacenamiento electrónico que debe manejarse con cuidado, como trataría un ordenador portátil sensible u otro producto electrónico para consumidor de último modelo. No debe someterse a golpes, temperaturas elevadas o campos magnéticos fuertes.

Encendido y apagado de la unidad

Para encender la unidad, pulse el botón de encendido y apagado, On/Off.

Para apagar la unidad, pulse el botón de encendido y apagado de nuevo.

PhotoBank se apagará automáticamente después de 30 segundos de inactividad, para conservar la carga de la batería interna.

Copia de los contenidos de la tarjeta de memoria al disco duro

La copia del contenido completo de la tarjeta de memoria de su cámara al disco duro interno puede realizarse en algunos sencillos pasos.

1. Inserte su tarjeta en la ranura para tarjetas adecuada de

PhotoBank.

2. Pulse la tecla de encendido y apagado, On/Off, para encender la unidad. Recuerde que la pantalla mostrará el icono de su tarjeta y también podrá ver la cantidad de datos que contiene.

3. Pulse la tecla de copiado, Copy, para comenzar la copia de datos al disco duro. Todos los archivos de la tarjeta, incluyendo su organización en carpetas, se copiará a una carpeta en el disco duro. Recuerde que la mayoría de cámaras digitales almacenan fotos en una o más carpetas de la tarjeta de memoria.

Durante el proceso de copiado puede controlar su progreso con la barra indicadora de progreso que aparece en la pantalla. El proceso de transferencia se ha completado cuando el porcentaje de archivos transferidos que muestra la pantalla alcanza el 100 %. Después de la transferencia, los archivos en la tarjeta de memoria continúan en la tarjeta. Si desea utilizarla para realizar más fotografías, puede utilizar su cámara para eliminar los archivos antiguos o volver a dar formato a su tarjeta.

La carpeta de destino se almacena en una carpeta principal común llamada CARDS (tarjetas). Cada carpeta de destino recibe un nombre nuevo que se compone de la abreviatura de dos caracteres del tipo de tarjeta, seguida de un número consecutivo de cuatro dígitos. Puesto que se crea una nueva carpeta cada vez que pulsa el botón de copia,

PhotoBank no escribirá sobre los archivos anteriores.

Cuando haya terminado la transferencia de archivos, puede pulsar el botón de encendido y apagado, On/Off, o sencillamente esperar

30 segundos para que la unidad de apague de manera automática.

Para impedir la corrupción accidental de los datos, durante el proceso de transferencia de archivos PhotoBank no responderá a la pulsación del

botón de encendido y apagado. Si desea interrumpir el proceso de copia, sólo tiene que extraer la tarjeta. Entonces la pantalla indicará la interrupción de un proceso de copiado mostrando una «X» en el icono de tarjeta de memoria.

Conexión a un ordenador

Si ha copiado fotos de su tarjeta de memoria a PhotoBank y desea transferirlos a su ordenador, puede hacerlo fácilmente utilizando la interfaz USB.

Nota: Si el sistema operativo de su ordenador es Windows

La conexión de su unidad a un dispositivo central USB, como un ordenador PC o Mac, es muy sencilla. Siga los pasos que se indican a continuación:

Nota: Si utiliza un puerto USB 1.1 en su ordenador

Windows, puede aparecer en su pantalla el aviso siguiente:

Dispositivo USB de alta velocidad conectado en

concentrador USB que no es de alta velocidad. Esto no indica la existencia de un problema, puesto que PhotoBank es compatible con puertos USB tanto 1.1 como 2.0. Sólo tiene que cerrar el mensaje y continuar. No obstante, en este caso PhotoBank funcionará sólo a velocidades USB 1.1

Almacenamiento y transferencia de datos mediante USB

Una vez su unidad y sus lectores de tarjeta internos se encuentran conectados a un ordenador mediante USB, puede accederse a ellos y utilizarse como cualquier otro disco extraíble. Puede arrastrar archivos al icono de su unidad para copiarlos, navegar a su unidad en cuadros de diálogo Abrir o Guardar, o eliminar archivos almacenados en su unidad. Para más información sobre copia, apertura o eliminación de archivos, consulte la documentación que acompañaba a su ordenador.

Desconexión de PhotoBank de un ordenador PC o Mac

Su dispositivo PhotoBank puede cambiarse en caliente, es decir, puede conectarse y desconectarse sin reiniciar el ordenador. Para desconectar su unidad en cualquier momento dado, realice los pasos que se indican a continuación. También puede desconectar su disco duro en cualquier momento con su ordenador apagado.

PhotoBank is een innovatief, draagbaar apparaat waarmee u fotobestanden van een digitale camera kunt opslaan en beheren. Bij

PhotoBank zijn inbegrepen een ingebouwde batterij, sleuven voor geheugenkaartlezers, een extra grote vaste schijf, een statusdisplay en een snelle USB-interface. Wanneer uw apparaat juist is aangesloten op een computer met een recent besturingssysteem, kunt u het apparaat gebruiken zoals elk andere extern vaste-schijfstation waarop u gegevens opslaat.

Er zijn een paar belangrijke zaken die u moet weten voordat u PhotoBank voor het eerst gebruikt.

Knoppen, aansluitingen en lampjes

Maak u eerst vertrouwd met de display, knoppen en aansluitingen op het apparaat.

Bovenoppervlak - Display

De statusdisplay is op het bovenoppervlak aangebracht. Op de display wordt de huidige status aangegeven wanneer het apparaat is ingeschakeld. Zie de volgende afbeelding voor een beschrijving van de pictogrammen en informatie die op de display worden afgebeeld.

Wanneer de netadapter is aangesloten, brandt het oplaadlampje voor de batterij rood tijdens het opladen, en groen wanneer de batterij volledig is opgeladen. Het lampje is ook rood wanneer het apparaat via de USB-interface op een computer is aangesloten.

De batterij vervangen

De PhotoBank werkt op een ingebouwde, oplaadbare lithium-ionbatterij wanneer het apparaat los wordt gebruikt. Een lege batterij wordt in maximaal drie uur volledig opgeladen. Uw nieuwe batterij is mogelijk slechts gedeeltelijk geladen. Laad daarom de batterij op voordat u het

apparaat voor het eerst los gebruikt. Ongeacht de toestand van de batterij, kunt u het apparaat uiteraard altijd met de netadapter gebruiken.

Als u de batterij wilt opladen, sluit u de bijgeleverde netadapter aan op een stopcontact. Sluit vervolgens de gelijkstroomstekker van de adapter aan op de gelijkstroomingang op het apparaat. Wanneer de netadapter is aangesloten, brandt het oplaadlampje voor de batterij rood tijdens het opladen, en groen wanneer de batterij volledig is opgeladen.

De vaste schijf

De interne vaste schijf van de PhotoBank is vooraf geformatteerd voor het FAT32-bestandssysteem.

Opmerking: de capaciteit wisselt per model. Uw besturingssysteem en de PhotoBank geven mogelijk minder gigabytes aan. 1 GB = 1.000.000.000 bytes.

De interne vaste schijf is een complex elektronisch opslagsysteem en moet even voorzichtig worden behandeld als een draagbare computer of ander geavanceerd elektronisch product. Stel het apparaat niet bloot aan schokken, hoge temperaturen of krachtige magnetische velden.

Het apparaat in- of uitschakelen

Druk op de Aan-/uit-knop om het apparaat in te schakelen. Druk nogmaals op de Aan-/uit-knop om het apparaat uit te schakelen. Na 30 seconden zonder activiteit, wordt de PhotoBank automatisch uitgeschakeld. Hierdoor gaat de interne batterij langer mee.

Bediening

In dit gedeelte wordt beschreven hoe u de verschillende functie van de

PhotoBank gebruikt.

De inhoud van een geheugenkaart naar de vaste schijf kopiëren

U kunt de volledige inhoud van de geheugenkaart van een camera eenvoudig naar de interne vaste schijf kopiëren.

1. Plaats uw kaart in de juiste PhotoBank-kaartsleuf.

2. Schakel het apparaat in door op On/Off te drukken. Merk op dat het pictogram van uw kaart op de display wordt weergegeven en dat u ook kunt zien hoeveel gegevens uw kaart bevat.

3. Druk op de Kopieerknop om gegevens naar de vaste schijf te kopiëren. Alle bestanden op de kaart worden (inclusief de mapstructuur) naar een map op de vaste schijf gekopieerd. Let op dat op de meeste digitale camera’s foto’s in een of meer mappen op de geheugenkaart worden opgeslagen.

Tijdens het kopiëren kunt u de voortgang bewaken met de voortgangsbalk op de display. Het overdrachtsproces is voltooid wanneer het percentage overgedragen bestanden dat op de display wordt aangegeven, de 100% bereikt heeft. Na de overdracht worden de bestanden op de geheugenkaart NIET gewist. Als u de kaart voor meer foto’s wilt gebruiken, kunt oude bestanden met uw camera verwijderen of de kart opnieuw formatteren.

De doelmap wordt opgeslagen onder een gemeenschappelijke hoofdmap met de naam KAARTEN. Aan elke doelmap wordt een nieuwe naam toegewezen die bestaat uit de tweeletterige afkorting van uw kaarttype, gevolgd door een volgnummer van vier cijfers. Omdat er een nieuwe map wordt gemaakt telkens wanneer u op de Kopieerknop drukt, worden eerdere bestanden niet overschreven.

Wanneer alle bestanden zijn overgedragen, kunt u op On/Off drukken om het apparaat uit te schakelen of 30 seconden wachten totdat het apparaat automatisch wordt uitgeschakeld.

Tijdens het overdrachtsproces reageert PhotoBank niet wanneer u op

On/Off drukt. Dit voorkomt u incidentele gegevensbeschadiging. Als u een lopend kopieerproces wilt beëindigen, verwijdert u de kaart. Op de display verschijnt een ‘X’-teken op het geheugenkaartpictogram om aan te geven dat het kopieerproces is beëindigd.

Verbinding maken met een computer

Als u foto’s van uw geheugenkaart naar de PhotoBank hebt gekopieerd en ze vervolgens naar uw computer wilt overdragen, doet u dat met de

USB-interface.

Opmerking: Als uw computer werkt met Windows 98

Second Edition, hebt u enige extra software nodig. U kunt deze software op de website van SmartDisk downloaden.

U kunt het apparaat eenvoudig aansluiten op een USB-hostapparaat

(zoals een pc of Mac). Volg de onderstaande stappen:

1. Sluit het mini-B-uiteinde van de bijgeleverde USB-kabel aan op de USB-connector van de PhotoBank.

2. Sluit het andere uiteinde van de USB-kabel aan op een vrije

USB-poort op uw Mac, pc of hub.

3. Schakel de PhotoBank in.

Er wordt automatisch verbinding gemaakt met het station. In Windows wordt er in Deze computer een stationsletter voor de vaste schijf van de

PhotoBank weergegeven. Bij de Macintosh verschijnt er een nieuw pictogram op het bureaublad. Er verschijnen bovendien drie andere stationsletters waarmee elk van de drie sleuven voor kaartlezers worden aangeduid. Het USB-pictogram verschijnt op de display van e

PhotoBank. Dit geeft aan dat er een USB-verbinding tot stand is gebracht.

Opmerking: Als u een USB 1.1-poort op een Windowscomputer gebruikt, wordt soms de volgende waarschuwing weergegeven: Snel USB-apparaat aangesloten op een

langzame USB-hub. Dit wijst niet op een probleem, omdat de PhotoBank USB 1.1- en USB 2.0-poorten ondersteunt.

Sluit het bericht en ga verder. De PhotoBank werkt in dit geval echter met de snelheid van USB 1.1.

Gegevens via USB opslaan en overdragen

Zodra de vaste schijf en de interne kaartlezers met een USB-verbinding op de computer zijn aangesloten, zijn ze toegankelijk en kunt u ze gebruiken zoals elke andere verwisselbare schijf. U kunt bestanden naar het pictogram van het apparaat slepen om ze te kopiëren, naar het apparaat navigeren in de dialoogvensters Openen of Opslaan of bestanden van het apparaat verwijderen. Raadpleeg de documentatie bij uw computer voor meer informatie om bestanden te kopiëren, openen of verwijderen.

PhotoBank van een pc- of Mac-host loskoppelen

De PhotoBank is hot-swappable. Dit betekent dat u het apparaat kunt aansluiten en loskoppelen zonder uw computer opnieuw te starten. Voer de volgende stappen uit om de schijf op elk gewenst moment los te koppelen. U kunt de vaste schijf ook loskoppelen wanneer uw computer uit staat.

Opmerking: Volg altijd de juiste procedure om het apparaat los te koppelen. Als u het apparaat loskoppelt zonder de volgende instructies te respecteren, kan het apparaat beschadigd raken en/of kunt u gegevens verliezen.

Voor Windows:

1. Als u bestanden op de PhotoBank in een toepassing hebt geopend, sluit u deze bestanden.

2. Klik in het systeemvak op de knop Hardware loskoppelen of

uitwerpen.

3. Selecteer de PhotoBank-schijf in het weergegeven menu.

4. Windows geeft vervolgens een bericht weer dat u de hardware veilig kunt verwijderen.

Voor Mac OS:

1. Als u bestanden op de PhotoBank in een toepassing hebt geopend, sluit u deze bestanden.

2. Zoek het pictogram voor de PhotoBank op het bureaublad op en sleep het pictogram naar de prullenbak.

Garantiebepalingen

SmartDisk Corporation garandeert dat zijn producten bij normaal gebruik vrij zijn van materiaal- en fabricagefouten gedurende een periode van één jaar gerekend vanaf de aankoopdatum of gedurende een periode van drie jaar gerekend vanaf de fabricagedatum (de vroegste van de twee). Producten aangeschaft in de Europese

Unie en gedekt door Richtlijn 1999/44/EG worden gegarandeerd gedurende een periode van twee jaar gerekend vanaf de aankoopdatum. De enige verplichting van

SmartDisk met betrekking tot claims aangaande fouten, ingediend binnen de hiervoor beschreven garantieperiode, bestaat, naar zijn keuze, uit de reparatie of vervanging van elk onderdeel van de Apparatuur waarvan SmartDisk geheel naar eigen goeddunken vaststelt dat het defect is. Voordat de Klant onder deze garantie

Apparatuur naar SmartDisk retourneert, vraagt hij of zij een machtigingsnummer voor retourzending (RMA) aan bij SmartDisk door contact op te nemen met de technische dienst (zie www.SmartDisk.com). De Klant betaalt vooraf de verzendkosten voor apparatuur die in het kader van de garantiedienst naar

SmartDisk wordt geretourneerd, en SmartDisk betaalt de verzendkosten voor het retourneren van de Apparatuur naar de Klant (uitgezonderd douanetarieven of

BTW, indien van toepassing). Voor alle retourzendingen zijn een origineel, gedateerd aankoopbewijs en een brief met uitleg over het probleem vereist.

SmartDisk Corporation is niet verantwoordelijk voor artikelen die zonder RMA of in een onjuiste verpakking worden geretourneerd. Vervangende Apparatuur is nieuw of levert dezelfde prestaties als nieuwe apparatuur en wordt gedurende de rest van de garantieperiode van de Apparatuur gegarandeerd tegen fouten. SmartDisk

Corporation is niet verantwoordelijk voor het herstel van klantgegevens op geretourneerde producten waarop gegevens zijn opgeslagen. Alle vervangen

Apparatuur wordt eigendom van SmartDisk. Alle foutclaims die niet binnen de garantieperiode worden ingediend, worden beoordeeld als aanvaard door de Klant.

De garantieverplichtingen van SmartDisk binnen deze garantie zijn uitdrukkelijk onderhevig aan de voorwaarden dat (i.) de Producten te allen tijde juist worden

geïnstalleerd, gebruikt en onderhouden; (ii.) de Producten niet worden blootgesteld aan ongebruikelijke mechanische stress of ongebruikelijke elektrische om omgevingsomstandigheden of andere onvoorziene omstandigheden; (iii.) de

Producten niet worden blootgesteld aan onjuist gebruik, ongelukken of andere ongeoorloofde installaties/de-installaties door de Klant of derden; (iv.) de Producten niet op ongeoorloofde manier worden aangepast of gewijzigd, tenzij hiervoor schriftelijke of andere toestemming van SmartDisk verkregen is, en (v.) de Klant onmiddellijk na de publicatie ervan alle Productrevisies installeert die voor de betreffende Producten tijdens de garantieperiode door SmartDisk worden uitgebracht. SmartDisk garandeert niet dat de Producten functioneren in de specifieke combinatie die de Klant heeft geselecteerd of dat de Producten ononderbroken en foutloos werken of dat alle fouten en defecten worden verholpen.

SmartDisk heeft evenmin garantieverplichtingen aangaande de niet-conformiteit van de Producten met de geldende productspecificaties indien deze nietconformiteit voortvloeit uit de combinatie van Producten met hardware en/of software die niet door smartdisk wordt ondersteund. Als wordt vastgesteld dat een

Product, waarvan de Klant tijdens de garantieperiode heeft gemeld dat het defect is of fouten bevat, niet defect is of geen fouten bevat, kan SmartDisk, naar eigen keus, alle door SmartDisk verrichte werkzaamheden en gemaakte onkosten bij de klant in rekening brengen tegen de dan geldende tarieven van SmartDisk.

SmartDisk Corporation is niet verantwoordelijk voor de ongeoorloofde verkoop of onjuiste voorstellingen door niet-gemachtigde wederverkopers. De garanties van

SmartDisk zijn niet samen met het eigendom overdraagbaar. Producten aangeschaft op een veiling, tijdens een garageverkoop, op een vlooienmarkt of in de vorm van een demo, worden mogelijk niet door de garantie van SmartDisk gedekt.

DE GARANTIES VAN SMARTDISK EN HET VERHAAL VAN DE KLANT

UITEENGEZET IN DIT GEDEELTE ZIJN EXCLUSIEF EN WORDEN DOOR

SMARTDISK VERLEEND EN DOOR DE KLANT AANVAARD IN PLAATS

VAN ALLE ANDERE UITDRUKKELIJKE OF STILZWIJGENDE GARANTIES,

MET INBEGRIP VAN MAAR NIET BEPERKT TOT ALLE GARANTIES OP

VERKOOPBAARHEID EN GESCHIKTHEID VOOR EEN BEPAALD DOEL.

AL DERGELIJKE ANDERE GARANTIES WORDEN HIERBIJ

UITDRUKKELIJK AFGEWEZEN DOOR SMARTDISK EN DE KLANT.
