Industrial data processing made easy.
Reliably accurate data is no full stop essential these days for an
efficient and cost-effective industrial process. METTLER TOLEDO
scales offer you a tailor-made selection, ranging from industrial
precision balances with an internal resolution of 3.2 million points,
to competitively priced strain gauge/analogue weighing platforms
with measuring ranges from milligrams to tonnes. The IND690
terminal with IND690com application software logs the relevant
data in conjunction with your host computer. To make subsequent
processing easier we can provide adaptable interfaces - RS232
is standard; USB, Ethernet and wireless (WLAN, Bluetooth) are
optional - and printers for your applications.
Dialogue operation with format indication
– Requesting of input in various formats with explanatory text,
target value with or without unit.
Input formats: alphanumeric, numeric, real (comma numbers),
query (Yes/No), hidden (passwords), date/time.
Modes of operation of the IND690com application
software
Function keys
A–F
Key for triggering a data transfer. On key-hit, a
0–9
control sequence is initiated to the host machine.
F2 – F6
This is a simple means of monitoring just about
PC keyboard every key of the IND690com and to respond to
them, if desired. For convenience and to enable
easy handling, keys F2–F6 are freely markable via
the interface.
Dialogue operation without format indication
– Transmission of control sequences of the keys
– Display of any desired text on the display screen, consisting of
up to 4 lines with up to 30 characters each.

printed out on control slips, labels or forms.

Weighing
Request current gross, net and tare weight values through the
communication interfaces. From the superordinate system, you
may reset, tare and (as an option) switch between up to three
scales connected to the unit.
Sending text to the IND690com
Using simple interface commands, you may expand your complex
PC application and transpose it to production.
Whether it’s production information, procedural instructions or
entry prompts, simply display it directly at your workstation and the
PC remains protected and clean in the office. The IND690com
serves as an extension arm of the monitor in the production area rugged, dust- and waterproof.
– Up to 4 lines may be freely filled with data, UPPER and lower
case letters, special symbols and numeric characters.
– The maximum number of characters per line is as follows:
Line 1 –> 14 characters
Line 2 –> 14 characters
Line 3 –> 20 characters
Line 4 –> 30 characters
– The keys of the IND690com may serve as function keys for
data transmission. When a key is pressed, the IND690com
sends recognition of this key to the superordinate system. It will
react as if that key had been activated on the system itself.
That means you have a rugged, easy-to-care-for keyboard right
at the production area workstation.
– Give the keypad the intelligence of your application by marking
the function keys in clear text via the interface - variably, with
any text and at any time. Because only a key that is understood
makes any sense at all.
Variant 1:
Five keys with up to five characters per key are freely markable.
Variant 2:
Up to 15 texts can be added, lined up one after the other, consisting of up to 22 characters each. These texts can be displayed
in inverted colors (black on green) or normal (green on black),
and varied key after key. The length of each key varies dynamically, congruent with the length of the assigned text. In case not
all keys should fit in the display, several levels are generated
and users can switch from level to level.
Peripherals
Control, switch and monitor your production facilities with minimal
installation effort. By way of the same data line used to communicate with the IND690com, you may control up to an additional
five peripheral units. Simple and without additional lines to the
superordinate system.
– Stirring, shaking, transporting, displayng…
Control or monitor up to eight relay inputs and/or outputs with
the optional 4l/O-690 interface and the 4-690 relay box. If that
is not enough, control or monitor up to 64 relay input and/or
outputs using an optional RS485-690 and up to eight 8-690
relay box units.
– Barcode
You may connect your serial (or PS2) barcode reader to the
IND690com via an optional serial interface.
Depending on the situation and setting, the reader allows quick
inputs to the IND690com or the scanned data can be directed
to the superordinate system.
– Unlimited printing
Print your data via an optional serial interface on a METTLER
TOLEDO GA46 or on any other serial printer. Send your print
data from the superordinate system to the IND690com or use
the memory-resident printer configuration of the terminal.
