HOB²HOOD

It is an advanced automatic function which connects the hob to a special hood. Both the hob and the hood have an infrared signal communicator.

Speed of the fan is defined automatically on basis of mode setting and temperature of the hottest cookware on the hob. You can also operate the fan from the hob manually.

For most of the hoods the remote system is originally deactivated.

Activate it before you use the function.

For more information refer to hood user manual.

Operating the function automatically

• Each phase has a maximum electricity load.

• The function divides the power between cooking zones connected to the same phase.

13

• The function activates when the total electricity load of the cooking zones connected to a single phase is exceeded.

• The function reduces the power of the other cooking zones connected to the same phase.

• The heat setting display of the reduced zones changes between two levels.

HOB - HINTS AND TIPS

MINIMUM COOKWARE DIAMETER

WARNING! Refer to Safety chapters.

COOKWARE

For induction cooking zones a strong electro-magnetic field creates the heat in the cookware very quickly.

Use the induction cooking zones with suitable cookware.

Cookware material

correct: cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, multi-layer bottom (with a correct marking from a manufacturer).

not correct: aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.

Cookware is suitable for an induction hob if:

• water boils very quickly on a zone set to the highest heat setting.

• a magnet pulls on to the bottom of the cookware.

The bottom of the cookware must be as thick and flat as possible.

Ensure pan bases are clean and dry before placing on the hob surface.

Cookware dimensions

Induction cooking zones adapt to the dimension of the bottom of the cookware automatically.

The cooking zone efficiency is related to the diameter of the cookware. The cookware with a diameter smaller than the minimum receives only a part of the power generated by the cooking zone.

THE NOISES DURING OPERATION

If you can hear:

• crack noise: cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).

• whistle sound: you use a cooking zone with a high power level and the cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).

• humming: you use a high power level.

• clicking: electric switching occurs.

• hissing, buzzing: the fan operates.

The noises are normal and do not indicate any malfunction.

ÖKO TIMER (ECO TIMER)

To save energy, the heater of the cooking zone deactivates before the count down timer sounds.

The difference in the operation time depends on the heat setting level and the length of the cooking operation.

14

EXAMPLES OF COOKING APPLICATIONS

The correlation between the heat setting of a zone and its consumption of power is not linear. When you increase the heat setting, it is not proportional to the increase of the consumption of power. It means that a cooking zone with the medium heat setting uses less than a half of its power.

The data in the table is for guidance only.

• Use a special cleaner suitable for the surface of the hob.

• Use a special scraper for the glass.

CLEANING THE HOB

Remove immediately: melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar and food with sugar, otherwise, the dirt can cause damage to the hob. Take care to avoid burns. Use a special hob scraper on the

15

glass surface at an acute angle and move the blade on the surface.

Remove when the hob is sufficiently cool: limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, shiny metallic discoloration. Clean the hob with a moist cloth and a non-abrasive detergent. After cleaning, wipe the hob dry with a soft cloth.

OVEN - DAILY USE

Remove shiny metallic discoloration: use a solution of water with vinegar and clean the glass surface with a cloth.

OVEN - HINTS AND TIPS

WARNING! Refer to Safety chapters.

The temperature and baking times in the tables are guidelines only. They depend on the recipes and the quality and quantity of the ingredients used.

BAKING

For the first baking, use the lower temperature.

TIPS ON BAKING

Baking results Possible cause

You can extend the baking time by 10 – 15 minutes if you bake cakes on more than one shelf position.

Cakes and pastries at different heights do not always brown equally. There is no need to change the temperature setting if an unequal browning occurs. The differences equalize during baking.

Trays in the oven can distort during baking. When the trays are cold again, the distortions disappear.

Remedy

The bottom of the cake is not baked sufficiently.

The cake sinks and becomes soggy or streaky.

The cake is too dry.

The cake bakes unevenly.

The cake is not ready in the baking time specified in a recipe.

The shelf position is incorrect.

The oven temperature is too high.

The oven temperature is too high and the baking time is too short.

The oven temperature is too low.

The baking time is too long.

The oven temperature is too high and the baking time is too short.

The cake batter is not evenly distributed.

The oven temperature is too low.

Put the cake on a lower shelf.

Next time set slightly lower oven temperature.

Next time set a longer baking time and lower oven temperature.

Next time set higher oven temperature.

Next time set shorter baking time.

Next time set a longer baking time and lower oven temperature.

Next time spread the cake batter evenly on the baking tray.

Next time set a slightly higher oven temperature.

1) When frying or boiling fish, the cooking time depends on the thickness of the fish. The fish is finished when the flesh is white. Test by sticking a fork into the fish. If the flesh comes easily away from the bone, the fish is cooked.

2) With cooking on two levels (double portion) the time is around 1/3 longer than that stated on the packaging. If the time given is 30 mins, then the preparation time will be around 30 + 10 = 40 min.
