Recoiler
The Recoiler is a simple yet robust mechanism that smoothly retracts your headphone cable when not in use. It combines with our range of headphone/handset to create a cable free and tidy installation.
Recoiler Labels
Three different labels are fitted onto the Recoiler to make the set-up process as easy as possible.
The meaning of each label can be read below;
Recoil Direction
- This is the direction in which your cable retracts when returning to its mount.
This label can also indicate your cable direction
(left/right).
Wind Direction
- This is the direction in which the Recoiler is wound when being lifted from its mount.
Set Up QR Code
- Simply scan the QR Code on a mobile device to access our set-up video. This can also be watched from our website.
Using Headphones
Depending on which Headphone you purchase, you’ll receive a specific Hanger;
• Heavy Duty Handset - Magnetic Hanger
• Double Cup Headphones - Modern Hanger
• Single Cup Headphones - Magnetic Hanger www.interpretationshop.co.uk

Setting up the Recoiler
1. Fitting the Cable Guide
To begin, you first want to find a suitable surface to fit the Recoiler. To fit the Cable Guide, you will need to first cut a Ø32mm hole.
Ø32 mm
3. Fitting your Recoiler
Prior to installing, you need to ensure all 3 of these steps are taken into consideration, otherwise the retraction of your armoured cable
will be
affected.
1.
32mm
2.
27.5mm
Once you have cut the hole, simply slot in your
Cable Guide. You must insert in this orientation;
2. Fitting the Cable Roller
On the rear side of the surface, you now must fit your Cable Roller. This slots directly into the
Cable Guide like so;
1.
The distance the wall (that the Recoiler is fitted on) is from the mounting hole
2.
The positioning of your Recoiler in alignment with the Cable Roller
Following these steps, you’re now able to fit the
Recoiler using the supplied wood screws.
You must then fit three nuts onto the studs.
Note: You will require the use of an M3 Nut
Spinner / 5.5mm Spanner
To further secure the Cable Guide & Roller, you must fix 2 wood screws into the wall through the following two holes; www.interpretationshop.co.uk

3. Fitting your Hanger
On the front side of the surface, you now need to fit your Headphone/Handset Hanger. When installing please ensure the beneath cable guide is central with the hanger otherwise the retraction of your armoured cable
will be
affected.
1.
Thread the armoured cable through the cable guide and lead the cable down the hole inside the Cable Roller. Pull the cable fully through and mount your headphone/handset on its hanger.
Note: Please do not pull on the armoured cable, as your headphone/handset may fall and cause damage.

4. Setting up the Recoiler with
Handset
Once fitting instructions are complete, you can now set up your Recoiler for use with the
Heavy Duty Handset/Single Cup Headphone/
MKII Headphone. We strongly recommend you watch our set-up tutorial by scanning the QR
Code below;
2.
You then need to use one of two lock clamps.
This first clamp will decide your maximum retraction length; this means the maximum length a user can pull the handset from the surface.
youtube.com/watch?v=OYjxtlxyohE
www.interpretationshop.co.uk
This clamp must be locked at a minimum of
15cm from the end of the armoured cable (not including the 3.5mm jack). Simply lock into place using the supplied 2mm allen key.
5
3.
Next thread the cable through the Recoiler centre hole. Do this until the lock clamp prevents it from going any further. The direction the cable goes in is dependant on the variation you’ve chosen;
Left Cable Direction - Anti Clockwise
Right Cable Direction - Clockwise
5.
You then need to put the 3.5mm cable through one of the holes at the centre front. The right hole is for right cable direction and the left hole is for the left cable direction.

An easy way to figure out your cable direction is to look at the ‘Recoil Direction’ label. The placement of this will tell you whether its configured to the right or left side.
4.
You then need to use the second lock clamp.
This needs to be placed 2cm from the end of the armoured cable and will prevent it from being pulled out the Recoiler.
Once this has been locked on, simply thread the cable back through the centre hole until the second clamp can’t go any further.
6.
Using a pair of scissors, you now need to remove the cable tie located behind the ‘Recoil
Direction’ label. Please ensure to hold the armoured cable from the ‘Wind Direction’ sticker to prevent any harm to the Recoiler’s spring.
Once the cable tie is cut, gently allow the cable to retract around the Recoiler. www.interpretationshop.co.uk

Using a Media Player with the Recoiler
If you have purchased the Recoiler alongside one of our media players, you will need to consider the fitting location. You need to install the media player in one of two locations shown below, otherwise the 3.5mm jack cable may distrupt the mechanism. We recommend positioning a cable anchor to prevent this from occuring (supplied).
