Overview and Introduction

INTRODUCTION

The Flood King DX is a portable flood pumper intended for commercial use.

It can be teamed with an extraction tool to remove water from structures that have suffered a

flood

event. It's ideal for use in extensive or multi-level units like hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, offices, and large residential homes.

Read this Owner's Manual carefully to learn how to properly operate your

Flood King DX. Improper use of the machine will void the warranty. For your own safety, and the safety of others. this manual should remain with the

Flood Pumper. Additional copies are available on-line at www.dri-eaz.corr.

INSPECTION

Upon receiving your new Flood King DX, be sure to inspect it for shipping damage. Each machine is tested and inspected before shipping. Any damage incurred during shipping is the responsibility of the carrier. Notify the carrier immediately if you see damage to the box, the machine or parts.

How

THE FLOOD KING DX WORKS

The Flood King DX utilizes two 3-stage vacuum motors to lift water from surfaces then pumps it into a recovery tank or out through a drain hose. The drain hose should be placed somewhere it can discharge like in a sink, toilet or outdoors.

USING YOUR FLOOD KING

DX

Setup

Connect the vacuum recovery hose to the vacuum inlet on the recovery tank

(see Figure #1). Connect the drain hose to the drain hose/pumpout connecti on on the rear of the machine (see Figure #2). Put the pre-filter over the vacuum inlet located in the upper right hand corner inside the recovery tank-just cinch it on. Put the lid on the recovery tank. The recovery hose is for performing a manual dump: draining the recovery tank without the use of the diaphragm bilge pumps (using gravity flow only).

CAUTION

Check hose clamps before use to make sure they are tight. If a hose clamp becomes loose. high pressure water may force a hose off spraying water into a structure or onto the machine's components.

Turning the unit on

There is a switch for each vacuum motor. For optimal operation, turn on both

Vacuum #1, and Vacuum #2. The machine can operate with either one or both vacuum motors running.

Vacuum Shut-Oft

The float system will automatically shut off power to the vacuum motors when the recovery tank is full. This prevents water from entering the motors.

When the recovery tank becomes excessively dirty, or there's foam in the tank, the float may not work properly. Be sure to keep the tank clean, and use a defoamer any time foam is present.

CAUTION

Use defoamer when foaming occurs to prevent damage to vacuum motors

If the unit does automatically shut-off the vacuums, empty the tank and the vacuums will come back on automatically.

Operating

the Pump

CAUTION

Remove the pump-out cap and connect the drain hose before turning the pumps on

Failure to do so may result in blown hoses loose fittings, or water on the motor and switches.

There are

2 diaphragm pumps on your Flood King DX. These work together and run simultaneously. Both pumps will engage when you turn the pump switch on, and will continue to run until you turn them off. It is not recommended to run the pumps dry for any period of time.

MAINTENANCE

Prior to each use

Inspect the followino to ensure they're clean and able to function:

• all filters

(pre-filter, inline filters, tank filters)--purnp damage may occur if fitters become clogged

• the

float--it can become clogged with debris, impairing its ability to function

• the drain

hose—make sure the passage is clear so that water can flow

• check

all hose fittings--look

for cracks, debris, etc, anything that could impact its ability to create a good seal or contain water

After each use

Clean the following components:

• Remove the pre-filter, inline filters, and

tank filters.

Rinse off any visible dirt or grime with water.

• Unscrew the clear caps on the

inline filters

and dean the screens.

Clean fitters help to protect the pump.

• Clean

housing

with an all purpose detergent and water. Once the unit is dry, apply an automobile interior spray protectant to seal and protect the housing.

Every few months

Use an all purpose silicone spray to lubricate:

• wheels

• castors

• latches

• quick disconnects

The vacuum and pumps do not require any scheduled maintenance, but vacuum motors may need new brushes after 1,000 to 1,500 hours.

3. Place a shop rag beneath the fuel pump to catch any spilled fuel oil, and then remove the fuel pump cover.

To do this, use a 4-mm Allen wrench to remove the four bolts that secure the cover to the fuel pump/blower assembly.

4. Remove the fuel pump screen.

6. Rinse the screen in the 114 cup of clean fuel oil. If necessary, gently scrub the screen with the nylonbristled brush (a toothbrush works well) to remove any debris or buildup.

7. Replace the screen and fuel pump cover. Tighten the bolts snugly. Wipe up any spilled fuel oil from the housing or fuel pump.

8. Reopen the fuel line shut-off valve by turning the red knob counter-ctockwise.

9. Before replacing the housing cover, check for leaks around the pump cover during operation. To do this, set up the Dragon outside and allow to run in HEAT mode for several minutes. If the fuel pump cover does not leak, proceed to step 9.

If the fuel pump cover leaks, turn off and unplug unit before attempting to tighten or reseal the cover. If the cover will not stop leaking, have the unit inspected at a qualified service center.

10. Reattach the housing cover and guard plate.

Cleaning the Dragon

The heat exchanger and combustion chamber should be cleaned at least once a year to remove soot buildup.

The cleaning should be performed by a qualified

HVAC technician at a local service center. Contact your local distributor or the Dri-Eaz Service

To clean the Dragon housing, use a cleaner with a degreasing agent similar to Simple Green®

Remove the fuel pump screen

5. Inspect the screen for damage. If the screen is not damaged, proceed to step 6. If the screen is bent, torn, cracked, or damaged in any way, discard it and skip to step 7 with a new fuel pump screen.

FUNCIONA LA FLOOD KING

DX

La Flood King DX utiliza dos motores de aspiracion de 3 etapas para elevar el agua de las superficies y luego bombearla a un tanque de recuperaciOn o nada fuera a traves de una manguera de drenaje. La manguera de drenaje se debe ubicar en un lugar en que pueda descargar. corno un fregadero, inodoro o nacia el exterior.

Instalacion

Conecte la manguera de recuperaciOn de aspiracien a la entrada de asoiraciOn en el tanque de recuperacion (Figure 1). Conecte la manguera de drenaje a la conexion de la manguera de drenaje/evacuaciOn en la parte trasera de la maquina (Figure 2). Coloque el prefiltro sobre la entrada de aspiraciOn que se ubica en la esquina superior derecha dentro del tanque de recuperaciOn y aprietelo. Coloque la tape en el !wive de recuperacian.La

manguera de recuperacion es para realizar una descarga manual, vaciando el tanque de recuperacion sin el uso de las bombes de diafragma de la sentlna (usando solarnente el flujo par gravedad).

PRECAUC1ON

Inspeccione /as abrazaderas de la manguera antes de usar a fin de asegurarse de que esten apretadas. Si Sc suelta una abrazadera, el ague a alta presian podria expulsar /a manguera. rociando con ague la estructura o los componentes de /a magma.

Apagado del motor de aspiracion:

El sistema de fiotador apagara en forma automatica los motores de aspiracion cuando el tanque de recuperacion se Ilene. Esto evita que el ague ingrese a los motores. Cuando el tanque de recuperacion se ensucia demasiado, o hay espuma en este, es posible que el fiotador no funcione en forma correcta.

PRECAUC16N

Use el ciesespurnante cuando se forme espuma a fin de evitar danos a los motores de aspiraciOn.

AsegUrese de mantener el tanque limpio y use un desespumante en cualquier momenta en que haya espuma

PRECAUCIoN

Retire /a tape de evacuaciOn y conecte la manguera de drenaje antes de encender las bombas. No hacerio podria tener coma resultado mangueras reventadas, adaptadores sueltos o agua en el motor e interruptores.

Operacion de la bombe

La Flood King DX cuenta con dos bombas de membrane. Las dos la bornbas se activaran cuando encienda el interruptor de la bombe y seguiran funcionando haste due los apague. No se recomienda hacer funcionar las bombes en seco par ningun period° de tiempo.

UTILISATION DU FLOOD KING

Installation

Raccorder le boyau de recuperation a vide au conduit d'aspiration a vide

SUI le reservoir de recuperation (Figure 1). Rattacher le boyau de vidange au raccord a l'arriere de l'appareil (Figure 2). Placer le prefiltre sur l'oufe ration a vide dans le coin superieur droit a l'interieur du reservoir de recuperation. II suflt de le sangler. Poser le couverde du reservoir de recuperation .Le boyau de recuperation seri a faire une vidange manuelle, vidant le reservoir de recuperation sans utiliser les pompes d'assechement membrane (grace a l'effet de la gravite).

ATTENTION

S'assurer que les colliers de serrage du boyau sant bien serres. Si un collier de serrage se relache, l'eau sous haute pression paurrait detacher le boyau, arrosant ainsi une structure cu les composants de l'appareil.

Allumer l'appareil

Enlevez le bouchon de la pompe et raccordez-la au boyau de vidange avant de declencher a pompe. Sinon on risque d'avoir des boyaux perces, des raccords relaches et de l'eau dans les moteurs et les interrupteurs

Fonctionnement de la pompe

Le Flood King DX comprend deux pompes a membrane. Elies fonctionnent sirnultanement en duo. Les deux la pompes se declenchent quand on allume la pompe qui continue a fonctionner jusdu'a ce qu'on ies arrete. On reconrinriande de ne pas faire fonctionner les pompes a sec.

Apres chaque utilisation

Nettoyer les composants suivants:

• Oiler le prefiltre. les filtres en ligne et les nitres du reservoir. Pincer toute salete visible avec de l'eau

• Desserrer les bouchons des filtres en I gne et nettoyer les grillages.

Nettoyer les filtres protege la pornpe

• Nettoyer le carter avec de l'eau et un detergent tout usage. Lorsque l'apparell est sec. vaporiser un protecteur d'interieur de voitures pour sdeller et proteger le carter

Tous les deux ou trois mois

Lubrifier avec un aerosol aux silicones tout usaae les conroosants suivants:

• les roulettes

• les roues pivotantes

• les Ioquets

• les prises a derriontage rapide

Les moteurs a vide et les pompes n'exigent pas d'entretien reguller. ma's les brosses des moteurs a vide doivent etre remplacees toutes les 1000 ou

1500 heures.
