Unlock the Packaging Locks

Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Pull out the packaging locks and discard.

GETTING STARTED

Battery Removal and Installation

1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF .

2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit, use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and open the battery box.

3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.

4. Install 2 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)

5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

Note:

If the unit repeatedly powers down while playing, please install a new set of batteries.

BATTERY NOTICE

• Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance.

• Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.

• Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard

(carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries.

• Do not use damaged batteries.

• Insert batteries with the correct polarity.

• Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.

• Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.

• Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.

• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

• Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

• Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging

(if removable).

• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.

Explorer mode, Count & Color mode or Music & Sounds mode to play. Slide the Off/Mode Selector to the top of the mode selector panel to turn the unit OFF .

Pages and touch the pictures to explore and learn.

3. Thinking Chair Button

Press the Thinking Chair Button to play a finding game.

4. Volume Switch

Slide the Volume Switch to select high or low volume.

To preserve battery life, the Blue’s Clues & You!

TM Clue Into

Words book will automatically turn off after a minute of inactivity. The unit can be turned on again by sliding the

Off/Mode Selector or pressing the Thinking Chair Button .

The unit will also automatically turn off when the batteries are very low .

HOW TO PLAY

To get the most from your Blue’s Clues & You!

TM Clue Into

Words book, follow these simple instructions:

1. When playing, make sure the book is fully open. The pages should lay flat against the book covers.

2. If the pages are not laying flat, the book will not operate correctly.

3. For optimal performance, use one finger to touch the pages.

4. Do not touch more than one picture at a time.

5. Do not use more than one finger to touch a picture on the page and avoid resting your hand on the page.

ACTIVITIES

1. Word Explorer

Touch the pictures to learn words and hear fun sounds for things found around Blue’s home.

Touch the left pages to help Josh find clues to figure out which book Blue wants to read. Then join Blue and her friends in the Thinking Chair and think, think, think!

2. Count & Color

Touch the pictures to learn colors and practice counting with Josh and Blue.

3. Music & Sounds

Touch anywhere on the pages to improvise with musical sounds while one of five original melodies plays. Touch the

Thinking Chair Button to sing along with Josh!

4. Thinking Chair

Press the Thinking Chair Button to play a finding game.

Listen to the questions and touch the pictures to answer.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.

2. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat sources.

3. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.

4. Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

1. Turn the unit OFF .

2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.

3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes. Then, replace the batteries.

4. Turn the unit back ON . The unit will now be ready to use again.

5. If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.

Environmental Phenomena

The unit may malfunction if subjected to radio-frequency interference. It should revert to normal operation when the interference stops. If not, it may become necessary to turn the power Off and back On , to remove and reinstall the batteries.

In the unlikely event of an electrostatic discharge, the unit may malfunction and lose memory, requiring the user to reset the device by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
