OPERATION

• To release the power cord, turn the release hook through 180° and remove the cord from the holder.

• Adjust the Carpet/Hard Floor selector to the desired setting for the floor surface. For carpets and rugs, select the carpet setting. For hard floors, lino, tiled floors, wooden floors, etc. use the hard floor setting. This should be done when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and in the upright position, ensuring the selector is pushed fully to the left or right.

• When using the attachments supplied or when storing, always ensure the vacuum cleaner is locked securely in the upright position.

• When operating the foot pedal, press down with your foot and then pull the handle back towards you. The front of the vacuum will rise slightly and will drop once you release your foot from the raised pedal.

• Only use the recommended attachments and dust bags.

• Always keep all air vents clear and free from dust, lint, hairs, etc.

• Do NOT use on outdoor or wet surfaces.

• When the filter becomes dirty, rinse it in warm water and allow to dry fully before re-fitting.

• Do NOT handle the plug, cord or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.

• Do NOT drop or insert any objects into any openings.

• Always unplug after use and before performing any maintenance.

• Allow any metal parts to cool fully before performing any maintenance.

• Do NOT leave unattended when plugged in.

• Do NOT use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up matches, hot ashes, lit cigarettes, pins, needles, blades or any other sharp or flammable objects.

• Do NOT use around flammable liquids or gases.

• This item is not a toy. Keep children and animals away from the work area.

• Do NOT use without the dust bag or filter fitted.

• Check the vacuum cleaner and power cord for damage before use.

Do NOT use if damaged.

• Keep hair, fingers, loose clothing, etc. away from any moving parts or openings. Do NOT touch the brush roll when it is rotating.

• Do NOT carry or pull the vacuum by the cord. Do NOT close any doors over the cord or pull the cord round any sharp corners or edges.

Keep cord away from hot surfaces.

• Always carry using the carry handle.

• Ensure that the switch on the vacuum is set to the off position before removing the plug from the socket.

• This appliance should not be used by young children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance.

• Do NOT disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord. Always hold the plug to remove from a socket.

• Store in a cool, dry place.

Wipe housing clean with a soft dry cloth.

Replacing the dust bag:

If the level of pick-up deteriorates or when the full bag indicator illuminates, the dust bag may be full and need replacing.

To remove the dust bag, remove the front cover by pressing down on the latch, remove the bag stand and take the full bag off the bag stand.

Insert the new bag into the bag stand, ensuring the grooves are correctly aligned with the back of the bag and re-fit the bag stand onto the bracket. Replace the front cover, ensuring the latch is secure.

Replacing/cleaning the filter:

Unplug the vacuum cleaner before changing the filter. Remove the air inlet filter to allow access to the

HEPA filter and its stand. Remove the filter and stand. Wash the filter in clean water and allow to dry fully before re-fitting. If the filter remains dirty after washing, it will need to be replaced. Re-fit the HEPA filter, stand and air inlet filter before vacuuming.

Replacing the belt:

Unplug the vacuum cleaner before changing the belt. Before replacing the belt, set to the hard floor setting. Remove the bottom plate and belt cover.

Remove the belt and brush roll:

Ease the belt off the motor shaft and then lift the brush roll out of the side grooves.

Push the new belt onto the brush roll pulley. Take the belt through the floor brush section towards the motor shaft. Push the brush roll into the grooves at the sides and then push the belt onto the motor shaft.

Re-attach the belt cover and replace the bottom plate by aligning it with the groove at the front end of the nozzle head and fastening the latch.

Cleaning the suction hose:

If suction is reduced it may be caused by a blockage in the suction tube.

To remove a blockage, unplug the vacuum cleaner and return to the upright position. Pull out the suction tube from the connection to the vacuum cleaner by the suction ring, being sure to hold the handle with one hand to stabilise the vacuum cleaner.

Remove the blockage carefully, ensuring you do not damage the suction hose. Once removed, insert the suction hose back into the pipe and turn on the vacuum cleaner to check the blockage has cleared.

• Dispose of packaging at your local recycling centre.

• Dispose of paper and carton separately from plastic bags at your local recycling centre.

• Dispose of item at the end of its lifespan at your local authorised household waste recycling centre.
