CAUTION (Read before operation)

This software is to adjust the projector's setting from factory default to what you like. These adjustments are for customers who need and understand about these adjustments. Therefore if you do not need these adjustments or do not fully understand about these adjustments, please do not try to operate. Projectors have equipped with the best adjustments at the factory. You do not need to change these settings for ordinary use.

If you try these adjustments without necessity or adjust wrongly, projector could lose performances or functions. Whenever you try to adjust, we recommend you to save factory default setting data in advance.

You will need the data when you want to go back to factory default setting.

Caution for using this software

When installing this software on a computer, make sure to read carefully

[License Agreement] on the installation screen. We assume no responsibility for any computer or system troubles, data lost, data corruption or malfunction of equipments caused by the softwear or mishandling. We highly recommend to store the important data in the recording medium to another disc.

You may not copy the printed materials accompanying with the software.

The contents of this manual might be changed without notice.

The picture shape and screen display could be different from actual ones.

Introduction

Outline of Real Color Manager Pro

Real Color Manager Pro is the software to adjust color purity and gamma of the projected image. You can adjust color purity and gamma of the projected screen with comparing them to the image on the computer screen connected to the projector.

You can operate several projectors connected via Daisy chain or LAN connection trough the network.

Required hardware and operation configuration

This software operate under these environments.

Compatible OS Windows 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP

Required memory

RAM 64MByte or more ( Windows 98SE / Me / 2000)

RAM 128MByte or more (Windows XP)

(When adjusting several screens at the same time, you need more capacity.)

CPU

HDD(Hard Disc Drive)

Pentium or compatible with Pentium CPU) 166MHz or more (recommended equivalent of 600MHz or more)

10MByte or more free capacity

To install and operate Real Color Manager Pro, follow STEP1, 2 and 3. Refer to the each section to prepare and operate the software.

2. Preparation

Connecting a computer to projectors

Connect a computer to projectors. There are two ways of connections, Serial connection and LAN connection.

Serial connection (When connecting to one projector)

Connect a computer to one projector via Serial connection.

When starting up the software without checking the Projector list display box, the projector connected via Serial connection is used for the operation.

Serial connection (When connecting several projectors via Daisy connection)

Connect projectors via daisy chain connection with Serial cables.

For operation, select the address of each projector (ID No.s set to each projector) you want to operate. (See p10)

LAN connection

Connect the projectors with LAN*, and operate the projectors via LAN.

For operation, choose projectors by selecting IP address of the projectors and input the passwords of the projectors. (See p10)

(When you use this application via LAN connection, you cannot operate Color

Correction and Gamma Correction at the same time.)

*For LAN connection, Network Board POA-MD19NET (Optionally available) needs to be equipped with the projector.

Preparation

Installation of Real Color Manager Pro

Install Real Color Manager Pro on a computer.

1. Insert the Program CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.

2. Open My computer and click CD-ROM Drive. Then open Tool folder and double click the set-up icon

3. Select English for the installation and press the "OK" button.

4. Installation starts and License Agreement will appear. (CAUTION; READ THE

LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY) If you agree, press "Next" button and click "OK".

5. Specify the folder to install the program. In usual settings, you do not have to change the automatically selected folder.

6. After completing installation, Real Color Manager Pro will be registered in the program start-up menu and the shortcut icon will appear on the screen.

Select Real Color Manager Pro from the start-up program of the computer.

Real Color Manager starts up and the start-up screen will appear.

Display the list of registered projectors. Double click outside of the list to open the window to add the address setting. Double click any place on the list to open the window to change the registered address.

Setting the connection configuration

The connection setting to a projector (Serial connection)

When connecting via LAN connection, skip this operation.

1. Click "Setting" on the start-up screen to get to the next window.

2. Select COM port of the computer which is connected to Serial.

3. Select transmission speed of the Serial transmission.

(In usual settings, you do not need to change the default value.)

4. After these settings, click "OK".

Check the projector list display box on the start-up screen to display the projector connection setting screen. On this screen, you can set Serial and LAN connection. When the projector connection has already done, the list of the connected projectors are shown on the start-up screen. ( q on p8)

Setting of Serial connection (Daisy chain connection)

When connecting one projector via Serial connection, skip this operation.

1. Press "Add" button on the Connection setting screen to display the Add dialog screen. Refer to the Add dialog screen for the parts number below. (Figure on page 11)

2. Check the "Serial" w .

3. Input the projector's No. (optional) in q . When connecting several projectors, give numbers to each projector to manage them more simply.

4. Input the address in e . This address is the projector's ID No. which is set by menu operation of each projector. Make sure not to give the same ID No. repeatedly. You can select the ID No. from 001 to 999. For details about ID No. setting, refer to the owner's manual of the projector.

5. Memo function u is useful for take a note about the projector.

6. Press "OK" !0

7. The list of the registered projectors is shown on the connection setting screen.

Setting of LAN connection

1. Press "Add" button on the connection setting screen to display the Add dialog screen.Refer to the Add dialog screen for the parts number below. (Figure on page 11)

2. Check the "LAN" r .

3. Input the projector's No. (optional) in q . When connecting several projectors, give numbers to each projector to manage them more simply.

4. Input the IP address in t . This address is the IP address of the projector which is set in Network Manager (POA-MD19NET) . For details, refer to the owner's manual of Network Manager and projector. When you have already set the password, input the password in y .

5. Memo function u is useful for take a note about the projector.

Auto-creation of connection list

With using this function, you can create a connecting list automatically. (The example shown below is to create a list for 12 projectors.)

For the parts number below, refer to the Add dialog screen (Figure below).

1. Input the projector's No. which comes first in q .

2. Check the "Serial" w . (When connecting via LAN connection, check the circle beside "LAN" r . (Figure below)

3. Input the ID No. (011-999) which comes first in e . (When connecting via LAN connection, input the IP address of the projector which comes first in t . When you have already set the password, input the password in y .

4. Input the number of the projectors in "Auto setting" i to create an auto-list. In this example, it is 12. Press "Add" button o . Then the list of the 12 projectors will be created.

CAUTION: THE LIST IS NOT TO SHOW PROJECTORS WHICH HAVE COMPLETED

THE CONNECTIONS. YOU STILL NEED TO MATCH THE ID NO. OF THE PROJEC-

Modify the connection setting

Modify the connection setting which has already set.

Select the list you want to modify from the projector lists q on the Connection setting screen. The background color of the selected list is reversed.

Press "Modify" button e in the figure on page 8) on the connection setting screen to display the Setting modify screen. Input the same way as Add dialog screen. Input the modification, then Press "OK".

The outline of Color Correction

The characteristics of the R(red), G(green), B(blue) LCD panels of the projector differ from panel to panel. Therefore to project images with correct white balance, the projector equipped with the color correction circuit. The Color Correction adjusts the color correction circuit inside of the projector.

Start-up of Color Correction

1. Turn on the projector and confirm an image is projected on the screen.

2. Check the "Projector list" box on the start-up screen of Real Color Manager to display the registered projector list. (When connecting to one projector, clear the check box to close the projector list.)

3. Select the projector to correct color purity from the list.(The background color of selected projector is reversed.)

4. Press the "Color Correction" button ( t in the figure on page 8), the program starts and Color Correction Screen appears. When the Color Adjustment Screen is displayed, Color Correction data stored in the projector and model information start to be loaded into the Color Correction program. After completing to load, the data in the projector is shown on the Color Correction Screen. (CAUTION:

EACH LAMP MODE HAS CORRECTION DATA. THE LOADED DATE IS THE

ONE FOR THE LAMP MODE SELECTED AT THAT MOMENT.) Then save the loaded data. You will need the data when you want to use the initial data.

Correction data is provided for each lamp mode. Change the lamp mode and restart the projector, then store the data for each lamp mode. Refer to the "save and load" (p19) for details about saving the data. When the projector is not turned on, the message "Turn on projector and get the data after the image is projected properly." appears. The data loaded when starts up Color Correction program will be stored in "load data 0" (See p16)

Open the file.

Save the file.

Undo the previous action. You can go back to the screen before adjustment.

Receive the Color Correction data from the projector. When failing to receive, the screen displays error.

Send the Color Correction data to the projector. When failing to send, the screen displays error.

Adjust Color purity according to the following procedures.

Signal to adjust

Use video or computer signal generators which can select bright layer(Level).

About Color Correction data

Color Correction needs to be made for each lamp mode.

Each lamp mode has the correction data. The data loaded when starting up the correction is the one for the current lamp mode. Color purity needs to be adjusted for each layer of the brightness. It means you need to adjust the data for each layer of the brightness.

Adjustment is made for each level of the brightness shown below.

When selecting XGA, there are 8 layers; L1(80%), L2(65%), L3(50%),

L4(40%), L5(30%), L6(20%),L7(10%),

L8(5%)

When selecting SXGA+0, there are 4 layers; L1(50%), L2(25%), L3(12.5%), L4(2%)

Number of rayers and levels differ by projector.

Press "Correction layer" button in the toolbar to select the layer of the brightness

(Adjustment hierarchy). Press "Correction layer" button then the adjusted data of the layer of the brightness is displayed on the screen.

Adjustment is made according to the following procedure.

1. Load the data to adjust from the projector

2. Set the input signal white level

3. Select the "Correction layer" in the toolbar on the edit screen to match the signal level set in 2.

4. Confirm the area of the color shading on the projected screen.

5. Adjust the color purity.

6. Send the data to the projector.

7. Confirm the correction on the screen.

8. Repeat step 4 to 7.

9. Repeat step 2 to 8 and adjust each layer.

10. Repeat step 1 to 9 for each lamp mode.

When projecting the image from the back of the screen, select "Rear projection" in the "Projector (P)". When projecting from ceiling mounting projector, select "Ceiling" in

"Projector (P)".

Adjustment

Adjustment is made for each lamp mode (All lamps, Lamp1, Lamp2) and for each layer of the brightness of each lamp mode.

1. First, load the data to adjust from the projector. Use either automatically loaded data when the program started or load the data again. Press "Receive data" in the menu, then data receiving starts. Save the loaded data by pressing "Save as (S)" in the "File (F)" menu.

You will need the data when you want to use the data without adjustment.

2. Check the area and color purity on the projected screen.

See which color or where you need to adjust and confirm which cell should be adjusted on the adjustment screen.

Color purity should be confirmed in each layer of the brightness. Along with the layer of the brightness, "Correction layer" in the tool menu needs to be adjusted.

3. Select the area to adjust with left click or drag them. Selected area will be highlightened to blue. If you want to change the area to adjust, click or drag again.

4. Change the figure with Up/Down button , slider or mouse scroll (Only when the mouse scroll operation is effective). Adjusted data is not shown on the display immediately. You need to send it.

Save the adjusted data temporary.You can save the data in the process of adjustment temporary into Store 1-5. Press menu button where you want to save the data. One of the "Load buttons 0-5" which has the same number you selected displays in color. Press this button to load the stored data.

5. Press "Send data" button in the menu. The data of the adjustment screen will be loaded to the projector and displayed on the projected screen. Confirm the adjustment you have made.

6. Repeat step 2 to 5 and adjust until you get the white screen. After completing the adjustment, save the data. The stored data is for the current lamp mode.

7. Change the lamp mode from "Lamp" in the "Projector (P)" menu. Adjust Color purity according to the step 1 to 6 for each lamp mode.

Save and load

Save the data which is loaded from the projector and the adjusted data.

Save and load according to the following procedure. The stored data is for the current lamp mode.

Save : Select "Save as (A)" in the "File (F)" menu. Give a name to the data and select the place to save.

Load : Select "Open (O)" in the "File (F)" menu and choose the file you want to load.

Adjusted data is displayed on the cells. Press "Send data" button then the adjusted data is sent to the projector and the data will be projected on the screen.

Factory Default Setting

Adjusted data of the projector can be returned to factory setting. Select "Return to factory default" in the "Projector (P)" menu.Then Color Correction for all the lamp modes go back to the factory default settings.

CAUTION: FACTORY DEFAULT COLOR CORRECTION DATA IS STORED IN THE

PROJECTOR. WHEN YOU CHANGE THE PANEL WITH SERVICE, ADJUSTMENT IN

REPLACED PANEL CANNOT BE SET TO FACTORY DEFAULT ADJUSTMENT EVEN

IF YOU SELECT "RETURN TO FACTORY DEFAULT". IN THIS CASE, YOU NEED TO

ADJUST FOR THE PANEL YOU CHANGED.

Exit

Select "Exit (E)" in the "File (F)" menu, then Color Correction menu will close.

The outline of Gamma Correction

Gamma Correction menu is to adjust the Gamma data of the projector. Gamma correction needs to be made for each of video mode and computer mode. The data can be received and sent only through the same mode.

Start-up of Gamma Correction

1.Check the Projector list display box on the Real Color Manager start-up screen ( u button in the figure on p8 ) to display the registered projector list. (When connecting one projector, skip this operation.)

2. Select the projector to adjust from the list. The background color of the selected projector is reversed.

3. Press "Gamma Correction" button ( y button in the figure on page 8), then Gamma

Correction program stars and Gamma Adjustment Screen appears.

Adjust Gamma Correction with refering to "Parts name of the adjustment screen and its function (p21,22)" and "Gamma Correction Adjustment (p23.24)" .

Gamma Correction Adjustment

Adjust Gamma according to the following procedure.

1. Project the image to adjust. (Gamma Correction needs to be made for each of video mode and computer mode.)

2. Start-up the Gamma Correction program. When connecting the projector via Daisy chain connection or LAN connection, select the projector to adjust on the start-up screen of Real Color Manager.

After starting up the Gamma Correction Screen, start loading the data to adjust from the projector to Gamma Correction program. When the loading completed,

Gamma data is displayed as a graph. This data will be stored to Buffer 0 automatically. If the projector is not turned on, the message " Turn on the projector and load the data after confirming the image" appears. Press "Receive" ( !1 button on page

22) and load the adjustment data of the projector. This data loaded by pressing the

"Receive" button is not stored to Buffer 0. When you cannot communicate with the projector and cannot load the Color correction data from the projector, error dialog will appear. Before editing, save the data with "Save as (A)" in the "File (F)" menu.

You need the data when you want to go back to before adjustment. (Each of Video mode and Computer mode has Gamma correction data. Received data is the one of the selected data at that moment.)

3. While comparing the projected screen with monitors except for the one used as a model image, drag the spot on the line of the graph (image reproduction curve) to adjust. You can adjust the line of the graph (image reproduction curve) R,G and B individually.When adjusting R reproduction curve, press R button and drag the spot on the R curve to change the reproduction curve. Adjust G and B in the same way.

Press the RGB button, you can adjust all of R, G and B at the same time.

4. Press "Send data" button then the adjusted data is displayed on the projected screen. Save the adjusted data temporary. You can save the data in the process of adjustment temporary into Store 1-5. Press any of the buttons in the menu where you want to save the data. One of "Store data 1-5" buttons which has the same number you selected displays in color. Press one of the "Send data 0-6" buttons to load the stored data to the projector. The adjusted data will be displayed on the projected screen. Press "Initialize (I)" in the "Edit(E)" menu, the adjusted data goes back to the straight line and data in Store data 1-5 will be deleted.

Repeat step 3 and 4 to reproduce the image you want. The Gamma Correction data stored in the projector remains even after turning off the projector.

Gamma Correction

Save and load

Save the data loaded from the projector or the adjusted data.

Each of video data and computer data can be set in the projector. When storing the data, give a distinctive name.

Save and load according to the following procedure.

Save : Select "Save as (A)" in the "File (F)" menu. Give a name to the data and save it.

Load : Select "Open (O)" in the "File (F)" menu and choose the file you want to load.

Adjustment data will be displayed on the adjustment screen. Press "Send data" button then the adjusted data is sent to the projector and the data will be projected on the screen.

Exit

Select "Exit" in the "File (F)" menu, then Gamma Correction menu will close.
