Para desatascar el papel:
Si no inserta el papel correctamente en la trituradora o se excede la capacidad de hojas, se puede atascar el papel. La trituradora se detendrá automáticamente hasta que desatasque el papel. Para desatascar el papel:
• Mueva el interruptor de encendido a la posición de
REVERSA (REV), sujete el exceso de papel de la parte superior y jálelo. Tenga cuidado de no colocar sus manos cerca de la abertura de alimentación
para evitar lesiones. Una vez que haya desatascado el papel podrá reanudar la operación normal de su trituradora. (Si el cesto está lleno, desconecte el aparato y vacíe el cesto antes de desatascar el papel).

Sobrecalentamiento
El Circuito de Sobrecalentamiento/Sobrecarga del Motor se activa cuando se enciende el LED de
Sobrecalentamiento/Sobrecarga. Este circuito corta la energía automáticamente si la unidad ha estado trabajando de manera continua más allá de su tiempo máximo de operación (más de 2 minutos). Esto es necesario para proteger al motor de un sobrecalentamiento. Para reiniciar el circuito de sobrecalentamiento/sobrecarga del motor, apague la unidad y espere alrededor de 30 minutos. Luego vuelva a encender la unidad y reanude la operación normal.

Set up
Unpacking your shredder:
1 Remove all packing materials from the shredder.
2 Place the shredder on a flat level surface.
3 Snap the 4 casters onto the bottom of the shredder basket
4 Place the shredder head on top of the basket making sure that is aligned and attached.
NOTE: This shredder will operate only with the supplied basket.
5 Make sure safety interlock switch is engaged or unit will not operate.

Do not use with any other basket.
7 Be sure that wastebasket is not tilted more than 10º when shredder is being used.
•• Operating instructions
Keep private information private.
You’re almost ready to help protect your identity the easy way with Staples ® brand shredders. Whether you’re destroying a credit card offer with your name on it or confidential employee records, just follow these steps:
1 Slide the wastebasket fully into the shredder housing. If the basket is not properly placed into the shredder housing, then the unit will not power up.
2 With power switch in the OFF position, plug the shredder into a grounded electrical outlet.
3 Using the switch select the AUTO mode.

The power LED will illuminate and the shredder is now ready for operation.
5 Insert paper straight into paper entry. The Auto
Start/Stop smart sensor allows the unit to automatically start when an item is placed into the feed opening and stop as soon as the item travels completely through the feed opening.
• When shredding bills, insert them through the center of the feed opening. Remove all paper clips from paper prior to shredding.
• When shredding credit cards, CDs or DVDs, insert them into their separate feed openings.
6 Empty the basket frequently for smooth operation and to avoid jams.
7 Turn the shredder OFF prior to placing hands in wastebasket.
NOTE: This shredder is not designed to shred labels or any paper with labels. Shredding labels can cause blades to gum up and damage unit.
For the safety of children and pets, always move the power switch to OFF and unplug the shredder when it is unattended or not in use.

Clearing a jam
If paper is not inserted properly into the shredder, or if the sheet capacity is exceeded, a jam may result. The shredder will automatically stop until the jam is cleared. To clear a jam:
• Move the power switch to the REVERSE (REV) position, and grasp the excess paper from the top and pull it out. Be careful not to place your hands near the feed opening to
prevent any injuries. Once the jammed paper is cleared, normal shredding operation can resume. (If wastebasket is full, unplug the machine and empty the basket before clearing the jam).
• If the shredder jams while in reverse, move the power switch to AUTO and let shredder run for about five seconds. If jam does not clear, move power switch to REVERSE again and run for five seconds. Repeat this procedure until jam is cleared. If the jam cannot be cleared following this procedure, unplug the unit and carefully remove the jammed paper manually.
• Once the jam is cleared, move the power switch to AUTO to continue shredding, or to
OFF if shredding is complete.

Overheating
The Motor Overheat/Overload Circuit has been tripped when the Overheat/Overload LED light illuminates. This circuit terminates power automatically if the unit is shredding continuously beyond the machine’s maximum running time for over 2 minutes. This is necessary to protect the motor from overheating. To reset the motor
Overheat/Overload circuit turn the unit off and wait about 30 minutes. Then turn the unit back on and resume normal operation.
The Master Cut Off Switch is located on the top back of the shredder and is there to protect your colleagues and family from accidentally turning on the shredder. This switch should be placed in the OFF position when the shredder is not in use for extended period of time.

Power cord care
• Operate shredder from the power source indicated on the serial label. If you are unsure of the power source, consult your dealer or local power company.
• Since the power cord serves as the disconnect switch, make sure the shredder is plugged into an easily accessible wall outlet. The power cord cannot be replaced. If the power cord is damaged, the shredder should be discarded.
• Do not rest anything on the power cord.
• Do not place machine where persons may trip over or walk on the power cord.
• If an extension cord is used, make sure that the total ampere ratings of the products plugged into the extension cord do not exceed the extension cord ampere rating, and that the total of all products plugged into the wall outlet does not exceed 15 amp.

Care and maintenance
Shredder lubricants are recommended for your shredder and will lengthen the lifespan of your machine. Apply lubricants after 30 minutes of shredding or a minimum of twice per month to eliminate build-up on your shredder’s cutting heads and allow your machine to run at maximum performance.
For best results with your Staples ® brand shredder, use Staples ® brand shredder lubricant (item #602399) or Staples ® brand shredder lubricant sheets (item #602400).

Problem: Unit does not power up
Solution(s): a) Make sure the shredder is properly plugged in.
b) Make sure the power switch is in the AUTO position.
c) Make sure there’s no paper jam (see“Clearing a jam” ).
d) Make sure the shredder is properly seated on the
basket. e) Check to see if the shredder has overheated
(see“Overheating”).

Problem: Minor paper jam
Solution: Move the switch into the reverse position. If the material isn’t ejected, unplug the machine from the AC outlet and manually remove any unshredded material from the top of the feed opening. Reinsert the plug, and the overload/overheat light should go out and normal shredding can resume.

Problem: Major paper jam
Solution: A major paper jam may cause the thermal overload/overheat circuit to trip. In this situation turn off or unplug the shredder from the AC outlet and wait approximately 30 minutes for the overload/overheat to reset. Plug in the AC cord. If paper was left inside the feed opening prior to the overload/overheat, grasp the excess paper from the top and pull it out. As you depress the reverse button. Be careful not to place your hands near the feed opening to prevent any injuries. Once the jammed paper is cleared, normal shredding operation can resume.

Problem: Power turns off while shredding
Solution: This unit is equipped with a motor overload protection circuit, which may terminate power automatically if the unit exceeds the maximum run time
(see “Overheating”), if the shredding capacity has been exceeded, or a major jam has been detected (see
“Clearing a jam”). To reset the motor overload circuit, turn the unit off and wait approximately 30 minutes.

Problem: Shredder works but paper
does not feed through
Solution: Make sure that the waste receptacle is not overfilled.

Problem: Shredder shreds fewer
sheets than listed capacity
Solution: Cutting blades should be lubricated

Staples the Office Superstore, LLC (“Staples”), warrants to the original purchaser that this Staples ® brand shredder cutter blade shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material, or workmanship for 10 years from the date of purchase. A cutter blade is defined as the cutting cylinder in the shredder used to cut paper and other specified materials. Staples will either repair the Staples ® brand shredder cutter blade or replace any
Staples ® brand shredder with a defective cutter blade with the same or equivalent product free of charge, at Staples’ option.

Staples the Office Superstore, LLC (“Staples”), warrants to the original purchaser that this Staples ® brand shredder shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material, or workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. Staples will repair any defective Staples ® brand shredder, replace any defective
Staples ® brand shredder with the same or equivalent product free of charge or refund 100% of the purchase price, at Staples’ option.
This warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at Staples option, of defective parts. The purchaser is responsible for all shipping charges to return the machine to Staples after Staples has approved for the machine to be returned. No shredder will be accepted without first obtaining a Return Authorization
Number from Staples customer service. Customer accepts all responsibility for the proper packaging as well as any and all damage resulting from shipping.
To claim your repair, replacement or refund under either warranty, contact product support at 1-866-790-8026 or return the defective product to a Staples retail store with the original sales receipt.
This warranty does not apply to normal wear or damage from misuse, abuse, improper storage and handling, installation, accident, repair or alteration, damage caused by fire, negligence, misuse, improper cleaning or other circumstances not directly attributable to manufacturing defects. This warranty does not apply if the product has been used pursuant to any verbal or written rental, lease or loan agreement, or to modifications of the product, attachments to the products not approved by Staples, or to shredders that were not installed, used or maintained in accordance with product instructions and warnings. THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHERS, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
