Work Area

• Keep your work area clean and well lit.

Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.

• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.

Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

• Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical Safety

• Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other.) This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

Double Insulation eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system. Applicable only to

Class ll tools.

• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.

There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.

• Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.

Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.

Replace damaged cords immediately.

Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock.

• When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked

“W-A” or “W.” These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.

Personal Safety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.

A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury,

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair.

Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.

Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

• Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before plugging in.

Carrying tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

• Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on.

A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.

• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.

• Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.

Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.

Tool Use and Care

• Use clamps or other practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform.

Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.

• Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application.

The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.

• Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off.

Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.

Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

• Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons.

Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

• Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.

Properly maintained tools, with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

• Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tools operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using.

Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.

• Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model.

Accessories that may be suitable for one tool, may become hazardous when used on another tool.

Service

• Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel.

Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.

• When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual.

Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow

Maintenance Instructions may create a risk of electric shock or injury.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

• Always use proper guard with grinding wheel.

A guard protects operator from broken wheel fragments.

Always position the guard so that as much of the exposed disc as possible is pointing away from you.

• Accessories must be rated for at least the speed recommended on the tool warning label.

Wheels and other accessories running over rated speed can fly apart and cause injury.

• Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord.

Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the operator.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES

• Always wear eye protection.

• Keep guards in place.

• Use only accessories having a maximum operating speed at least as high as the speed specified in the warning on the tool’s label.

• Before using, inspect recommended accessory for cracks or flaws.

If such a crack or flaw is evident, discard the accessory. The accessory should also be inspected whenever you think the tool may have been dropped.

• When starting the tool (with a new or replacement wheel or brush installed) hold the tool in a well protected area and let it run for one minute.

If the wheel or brush has an undetected crack or flaw, it should burst or separate in less than one minute. Never start the tool with a person in line with the accessory. This includes the operator.

• In operation, avoid bouncing the wheel or giving it rough treatment.

If this occurs, stop the tool and inspect the wheel.

• Always use guards with grinding wheels and wire brushes. Always position the guard so that as much of the exposed wheel or wire brush as possible is pointing away from you.

• Clean your tool out periodically.

• Do not use Type 1 flat cut-off or diamond wheels without proper guard.

• Always direct stream of sparks from grinding away from flamable materials.

• WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Some examples of these chemicals are:

• lead from lead-based paints,

• crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and

• arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber (CCA).

Your risk from these exposures varies,

4 depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

• Avoid prolonged contact with dust from power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities. Wear protective clothing and wash exposed areas with soap and water.

Allowing dust to get into your mouth, eyes, or lay on the skin may promote absorption of harmful chemicals.

• WARNING: Use of this tool can generate and/or disburse dust, which may cause serious and permanent respiratory or other injury. Always use NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory protection appropriate for the dust exposure.

Direct particles away from face and body.

• CAUTION: Wear appropriate hearing protection during use. Under some conditions and duration of use, noise from this product may contribute to hearing loss.

EXTENSION CORDS

When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. The following table shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number, the heavier the cord.

MOTOR

Be sure your power supply agrees with nameplate marking. 120 Volts AC only means your tool will operate on standard

60 Hz household power. Do not operate

AC tools on DC. A rating of 120 volts

AC/DC means that your tool will operate on standard 60 Hz AC or DC power. This information is printed on the nameplate.

Lower voltage will cause loss of power and can result in over-heating. All Craftsman tools are factory-tested; if this tool does not operate, check the power supply.

OPERATION

AUXILIARY HANDLE (FIG. 1)

A three position auxiliary handle (5) is furnished with your grinder and can be screwed into either side of the grinder housing as well as into the top. This handle SHOULD BE USED AT ALL

TIMES to maintain complete control of the tool. Always make sure handle is tight.

STARTING THE TOOL

To switch your angle grinder on, depress the trigger switch (1). The angle grinder will stop when the trigger switch is released. For continuous operation depress the lock-on button (2) while the trigger switch is depressed. Release the trigger switch prior to releasing the lock-on button. To stop your angle grinder when operation is continuous depress the trigger switch again and release.

OVERLOAD

Overloading will cause damage to the motor of your angle grinder. This can happen if your angle grinder is subjected to heavy use for prolonged periods of time. Do not in any circumstances, attempt to exert too much pressure on your angle grinder to speed up your work.

The abrasive discs operate more efficiently when light pressure is exerted, thus avoiding a drop in the speed of your angle grinder.

TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE TOOL.

NEVER GRIND OR BRUSH WITHOUT

GUARD (6) IN PLACE .

1. Place the tool on a table, with the spindle (9) facing up.

2. Place the spring washer (8) over the spindle and locate it on the shoulder

(10).

3. Place the guard (6) onto the tool as shown.

4. Place the flange (7) over the spindle with the protruding tips towards the guard. Make sure that the holes in the flange align with the screw holes.

5. Secure the flange with the screws

(11). Make sure that the screws are fully tight and that the guard can be rotated.

1. Ensure that the guard is fitted properly. Place the inner flange (A) in

Fig. 3 on the spindle. Ensure that it is located on the two flats.

2. Place the grinding disc on the inner flange (A) in Fig 3.

For grinding discs Fig. 5, the outer flange (B) is fitted with the raised portion facing towards the disc. For cutting discs, the flange (B) is fitted with the raised portion facing away from the disc.

4. Press in the spindle lock button (3) and rotate the spindle until it locks.

Keeping the spindle lock button pressed in, tighten the outer flange with the spanner wrench provided as shown in Fig. 6.

5. When using a depressed-center disc, (4) hold the tool so that an angle of approximately 30° exists between the disc and the work (see

Fig.10).

WARNING: Check rated speed on depressed-center wheel. Never use a disc with rated speed lower than the speed on the nameplate of the tool.

FOR EDGE GRINDING

Edge grinding can be performed only with

Type 27 and hubbed wheels that are specified for this purpose. Protect yourself during edge grinding by directing the open side of the guard toward a surface.

FITTING WIRE CUP BRUSHES

The wire cup brush screws directly on the spindle of the machine without the use of flanges. When using wire brushes, thread firmly on spindle by hand.

CAUTION: Wear work gloves when handling wire brushes which can become sharp.

SANDING

REMOVING THE GUARD (SANDING ONLY)

TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE TOOL.

NOTE: To prevent loss of control, do not set tool down until accessory has completely stopped turning.

This tool is fitted with a guard. For sanding only, you can remove the guard as follows:

1. Remove the outer flange, disc and inner flange if they have been attached.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws (11).

3. Remove the flange (7), guard (6) and spring washer (8). Store these parts carefully.

PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE WHEN

SANDING PAINT

• Sanding of lead based paint is NOT

RECOMMENDED due to the difficulty of controlling the contaminated dust. The greatest danger of lead poisoning is to children and pregnant women.

• Since it is difficult to identify whether or not a paint contains lead without a chemical analysis, we recommend the following precautions when sanding any paint:

Personal Safety

• No children or pregnant women should enter the work area where the paint sanding is being done until all cleanup is completed.

• A dustmask or respirator should be worn by all persons entering the work area. The filter should be replaced daily or whenever the wearer has difficulty breathing.

NOTE: Only those dustmasks suitable for working with lead paint dust and fumes should be used. Ordinary painting masks do not offer this protection. See your local hardware dealer for the National

Institute of Occupational Safety and

Health (NIOSH) approved proper mask.

Environmental Safety

• Paint should be removed in such a manner as to minimize the amount of dust generated.

• Areas where paint removal is occurring should be sealed with plastic sheeting of 4 mils thickness.

• Sanding should be done in a manner to reduce tracking of paint dust outside the work area.

FITTING ABRASIVE SANDING DISCS

TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE TOOL.

Use an abrasive disc with the backing pad for sanding with your angle grinder.

1. Remove the guard.

2. Place the flange, (backing pad and abrasive disc sold separately) and outer flange on the spindle as shown in Figure 8. Figure 8A shows how to attach an abrasive disc with a rubber backing pad.

3. Tighten the abrasive disc as shown in

Figure 9 by depressing the spindle lock button and turning the abrasive disc by hand.

TO USE GRINDER

WARNING: Always wear eye protection while operating this power tool.

• Hold your angle grinder with one hand on the body and the other hand firmly around the side handle as shown in

Fig.10 and 11.

• Always position the guard so that as much of the exposed disc as possible is pointing away from you.

• Be prepared for a stream of sparks when the disc touches the metal.

• Exert light pressure on abrasive discs for efficient operation. Pushing too hard will cause a drop in speed and may result in motor overload and damage.

• Use caution when working into corners as contact with the intersecting surface may cause the grinder to jump or twist.

• For best tool control, material removal, and minimum overloading, maintain an angle between the disc and work surface

(Fig. 10 & 11) of approximately 30° when grinding and 10°-15° when sanding.

CAUTION: Use extra care when grinding into a corner as a sudden sharp movement of the grinder may be experienced when the wheel contacts a secondary surface.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING

Blowing dust and grit out of the motor housing using compressed air is a necessary maintenance procedure.

CAUTION: Dust and grit from metal grinding often accumulate on interior surfaces and could create an electrical shock hazard if not cleaned out.

Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.

IMPORTANT: To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustment should be performed by

Sears Service Centers.

LUBRICATION

Sears Craftsman tools are properly lubricated at the factory and are ready for use. Tools should be lubricated regularly every year depending on usage. (Tools used on heavy duty jobs and tools exposed to heat may require more frequent lubrication.) This lubrication should be attempted only by trained power tool repair specialists such as those at Sears Service Centers or in other qualified service organizations.

Use only Craftsman accessories with your tool. These accessories are available at extra cost from your local Sears store or

• No ponga en peligro su estabilidad.

Uso y cuidados de la herramienta

• Utilice abrazaderas u otro elemento adecuado para sujetar y apoyar la pieza de trabajo en una plataforma estable. Sujetar la pieza con la mano o contra el cuerpo es inestable y facilita la pérdida de control.

• No fuerce la herramienta. Emplee la herramienta correcta para cada aplicación. La herramienta correcta hace el trabajo mejor y más seguro dentro del rango para el que ha sido diseñada.

• No utilice la herramienta si el interruptor no la enciende y apaga.

Cualquier herramienta que no pueda controlarse con el interruptor es peligrosa y se debe reparar.

• Desconecte la clavija del enchufe antes de proceder a cualquier ajuste, cambiar un accesorio o guardar la herramienta. Estas medidas de seguridad preventiva reducen el riesgo de poner en marcha la herramienta accidentalmente.

• Utilice únicamente los accesorios recomendados por el fabricante para su modelo. Un mismo accesorio puede ser adecuado para una herramienta, pero peligroso si se usa en otra.

Servicio

• El servicio a la herramienta sólo deber ser realizado por personal de reparación calificado. Si el servicio o mantenimiento es realizado por personal no calificado, podría resultar en riesgo de lesión.

• Cuando se repare una herramienta, sólo se deben usar repuestos originales. Siga las instrucciones en la sección de mantenimiento de este manual. El uso de repuestos no autorizados o el incumplimiento de las instrucciones de mantenimiento pueden crear un riesgo de descarga eléctrica o lesión.

NORMAS ESPECÍFICAS DE SEGURIDAD

• Use siempre el protector debido con el disco de esmerilado. Un protector protege al operador de los fragmentos que se desprendan del disco. Coloque siempre el protector de modo que la mayor parte posible del disco expuesto quede apuntando en dirección opuesta a usted.

• Los accesorios deben estar clasificados por lo menos para la velocidad recomendada en la etiqueta de advertencia de la herramienta. Si funcionan a velocidades superiores a la prevista, los discos y otros accesorios pueden salir despedidos y provocar lesiones.

• Sujete la herramienta por las superficies aislantes si lleva a cabo una operación en que la herramienta pueda tocar un conductor oculto o su propio cable. El contacto con un conductor activo provocará que las piezas metálicas de la herramienta conduzcan electricidad y que el operador reciba una descarga eléctrica.

• Antes de utilizarlo, revise el accesorio recomendado para confirmar que no tenga trizaduras o fallas.

Si tuviera alguna trizadura o falla, descarte el accesorio. El accesorio debería también ser revisado siempre que se piense que la herramienta pudiera haberse caído.

• Cuando arranque la herramienta

(con un disco o escobilla nuevo o de reemplazo instalado), sostenga la herramienta en un área bien protegida y déjela andar por un minuto.

Si el disco o la escobilla tiene una trizadura o falla no detectada, debería romperse o separarse en menos de un minuto. Nunca arranque la herramienta si hay alguna persona parada en línea con el accesorio. Esto incluye al operador.

• Durante la operación, evite hacer rebotar el disco o tratarlo bruscamente.

Si esto ocurre, detenga la herramienta y revise el disco.

• Utilice siempre los protectores con los discos de esmerilado y las escobillas de metal. Coloque siempre el protector de modo que la mayor parte posible del disco expuesto quede apuntando en dirección opuesta a usted.

• Limpie su herramienta periódicamente.

• No use discos abrasivos Tipo 1 o de diamante sin la guarda apropiada.

• Siempre dirija la corriente de chispas originada al esmerilar lejos de

• materiales inflamables.

ADVERTENCIA: Parte del polvo generado al lijar, serrar, esmerilar y taladrar, así como al realizar otras actividades del sector de la construcción, contienen productos químicos que pueden producir cáncer, defectos congénitos u otras afecciones reproductivas. Ejemplos de esas substancias químicas son:

• plomo procedente de pinturas a base de plomo,

• óxido de silicio cristalino procedente de ladrillos, cemento y otros productos de mampostería, y

• arsénico y cromo procedentes de madera tratada químicamente (CCA).

El peligro derivado de estas exposiciones que usted enfrente varía en función de la

Para reducir la exposición a esas sustancias químicas: trabaje en una zona bien ventilada y llevando equipos de seguridad aprobados, como mascarillas antipolvo especialmente diseñadas para filtrar partículas microscópicas.

• Evite el contacto prolongado con el polvo procedente del lijado, serrado, esmerilado y taladrado eléctricos, así como de otras actividades del sector de la construcción. Lleve ropa protectora y lave con agua y jabón las zonas expuestas. Si permite que el polvo se introduzca en la boca u ojos o quede sobre la piel, puede favorecer la absorción de productos químicos peligrosos.

• ADVERTENCIA: El uso de esta herramienta puede generar o dispersar polvo lo cual puede causar lesiones respiratorias serias y permanentes y otros tipos de lesión.

Siempre use protección respiratoria aprobada por NIOSH/OSHA para la exposición al polvo. Dirija las partículas en dirección opuesta a su cara y cuerpo.

• PRECAUCIÓN: Utilice una protección auditiva apropiada durante el uso. En determinadas condiciones y con utilizaciones prolongadas, el ruido generado por este producto puede favorecer la pérdida de audición.

CABLES DE EXTENSIÓN

Cuando use un cable de extensión, asegúrese de usar uno de un calibre suficiente como para cargar con la corriente que requerirá su producto. Un cable de menor calibre causará una caída en el voltaje de la línea lo que resultará en pérdida de potencia y sobrecalentamiento. El siguiente cuadro muestra el tamaño correcto a utilizar, dependiendo del largo del cable y el amperaje nominal. Si tiene dudas sobre cuál calibre usar, use un calibre mayor.

MOTOR

Asegúrese de que su alimentación eléctrica sea la requerida en la placa nominal. 120 voltios de corriente alterna sólo significa que su herramienta operará con la potencia doméstica estándar de

60 Hz. No opere herramientas de corriente alterna en corriente directa. Una especificación de 120 voltios AC/DC significa que su herramienta operará en

60 Hz estándar de potencia en corriente alterna o corriente directa. Esta información está impresa en la placa nominal. Un voltaje menor causará pérdida de potencia y puede resultar en sobrecalentamiento.

Todas las herramientas Craftsman han sido probadas en la fábrica; si esta herramienta no funciona, revise la alimentación eléctrica.

OPERACIÓN

MANGO AUXILIAR (FIG. 1)

Su esmeriladora viene equipada con un mango auxiliar de tres posiciones (5) el cual puede ser atornillado en cualquiera de los dos lados de la caja protectora de la esmeriladora o en su parte superior.

EN TODO MOMENTO para mantener el control total de la herramienta. Asegúrese siempre de que el mango esté apretado.

ARRANQUE DE LA HERRAMIENTA

Para encender su esmeriladora angular, presione el conmutador tipo gatillo (1). La esmeriladora angular se detendrá cuando suelte el conmutador tipo gatillo. Si desea una operación continua, presiones el botón de bloqueo en ON (2) mientras el conmutador tipo gatillo está presionado.

Suelte el conmutador tipo gatillo antes de soltar el botón de bloqueo en ON. Para detener su esmeriladora angular cuando está en modalidad de operación continua, presione el conmutador tipo gatillo nuevamente y suéltelo.

SOBRECARGA

La sobrecarga causará daños al motor de su esmeriladora angular. Esto puede suceder si su esmeriladora angular es sujeta a uso pesado durante períodos largos de tiempo. Bajo ninguna circunstancia intente ejercer demasiada presión sobre su esmeriladora angular con el propósito de acelerar su trabajo.

Los discos abrasivos operan con mayor eficiencia cuando se ejerce presión ligera, evitando así una caída en la velocidad de su esmeriladora angular.

2. Coloque la arandela de resorte (8) sobre el eje y ubíquela sobre el anclaje

3. Coloque el protector (6) sobre la herramienta como se muestra en la figura.

4. Coloque la brida (7) sobre el eje con las puntas que sobresalen de frente al protector. Cerciórese de que los orificios de la brida estén alineados con los orificios para los tornillos.

5. Fije la brida con los tornillos (11).

Asegúrese de que los tornillos estén bien ajustados y que el protector pueda girarse.

NOTA: Para evitar perder el control, no deje la herramienta a un lado hasta que el accesorio no haya dejado de girar totalmente.

Esta herramienta viene con un protector.

Para lijar solamente, puede quitar el protector de la siguiente manera:

1. Quite la brida externa, el disco y la brida interna si fueron fijados.

2. Use un destornillador para quitar los tornillos (11).

3. Quite la brida (7), el protector (6) y la arandela de resorte (8). Guarde cuidadosamente estas piezas.

5. Cuando use un disco con centro hundido (4), sostenga la herramienta de modo que exista un ángulo de aproximadamente 30° entre el disco y el material de trabajo (ver Fig. 10).

ADVERTENCIA: Revise la velocidad nominal del disco de centro hundido. Nunca use un disco que tenga una velocidad nominal menor que la de la placa nominal de la herramienta.

PARA ESMERILAR CANTOS

El esmerilado de cantos se puede hacer

únicamente con discos Tipo 27 y con piedras con cubo que se especifiquen para este propósito. Protéjase a sí mismo durante el esmerilado de cantos dirigiendo el lado abierto de la guarda hacia una superficie.

INSTALACIÓN DE ESCOBILLAS

METÁLICAS ENCOPADAS

Las escobillas metálicas encopadas se atornillan directamente en el eje de la máquina sin necesidad de utilizar pestañas. Cuando use escobillas metálicas, insértelas en el eje firmemente con la mano.

PRECAUCIÓN: utilice guantes de trabajo cuando maneje cepillos de alambre que puedan estar afilados.

PRECAUCIONES A TOMAR CUANDO

LIJE PINTURA

• El lijado de pinturas con base de plomo

NO SE RECOMIENDA debido a la dificultad de control del polvo contaminado. El envenenamiento por plomo es más peligroso para niños y mujeres embarazadas.

• Ya que es difícil identificar si una pintura contiene plomo o no, sin antes hacer un análisis químico, le recomendamos que se tomen las siguientes precauciones cuando lije cualquier pintura:

Seguridad Personal

• Ningún niño o mujer embarazada debería entrar al área de trabajo donde se está lijando la pintura hasta que se termine de limpiar el área.

• Toda persona que entre al área de trabajo debe usar una máscara antipolvo o respirador. El filtro debería ser reemplazado a diario o cuando el usuario tenga dificultades para respirar.

NOTA: Sólo se deberían utilizar aquellas máscaras antipolvo adecuadas para el trabajo con polvo y gases de pinturas de plomo. Las máscaras

Nacional de Seguridad y Salud

Ocupacional (NIOSH).

Seguridad Medioambiental

• La pintura debe ser quitada de tal manera que se minimice la cantidad de polvo generada.

• Aquellas áreas en las que se está quitando pintura deberían ser selladas con láminas de plástico de 4 mm de grosor.

• El lijado debería hacerse de modo que se reduzca la cantidad de polvo de pintura que se lleve afuera.

INSTALACIÓN DE DISCOS ABRASIVOS

PARA USAR LA ESMERILADORA

ADVERTENCIA: Utilice siempre protección ocular cuando opere esta máquina herramienta .

• Sujete su esmeriladora angular con una mano en el cuerpo y con la otra firme alrededor del mango lateral, como se muestra en las figuras 10 y 11.

• Coloque siempre el protector de modo que la mayor parte posible del disco expuesto quede apuntando en dirección opuesta a usted.

• Esté preparado para la lluvia de chispas que se generará cuando el disco toque el metal.

• Ejerza una presión ligera sobre los discos abrasivos para una operación eficiente. Si empuja demasiado, disminuirá la velocidad lo cual podría resultar en sobrecarga y daño del motor.

• Use cautela cuando trabaje en esquinas ya que el contacto con la superficie intersectada podría hacer que la esmeriladora salte o se tuerza.

• Para controlar mejor la herramienta, quitar mejor el material y minimizar la sobrecarga, mantenga un ángulo entre el disco y la superficie de trabajo (Fig.

10 y 11) de aproximadamente 30° cuando esmerile y 10°-15° cuando lije.

PRECAUCIÓN: Tenga mucho cuidado cuando esmerile en esquinas, ya que puede experimentarse un movimiento súbito de la esmeriladora al hacer contacto con una segunda superficie.

MANTENIMIENTO

LIMPIEZA

Como procedimiento de mantenimiento necesario, limpie el polvo y la arenilla acumulada en la caja protectora del motor con aire comprimido.

PRECAUCIÓN: El polvo y la arenilla provenientes del esmerilado de metal generalmente se acumulan en las superficies interiores y pueden crear peligro de choque eléctrico si no se limpian.Use sólo un jabón suave y paño húmedo para limpiar la herramienta.

Jamás permita que le entre líquido a la herramienta; nunca sumerja ninguna parte de la herramienta.

IMPORTANTE: Las reparaciones, el mantenimiento y los ajustes deberán ser realizados por Centros de Servicio Sears para garantizar la SEGURIDAD y

FIABILIDAD del producto.

LUBRICACIÓN

Las herramientas Sears Craftsman vienen debidamente lubricadas de fábrica y están listas para usarse. Las herramientas deberán lubricarse en forma regular, todos los años, dependiendo del uso. (Aquellas herramientas utilizadas para trabajos pesados o expuestas a calor podrían requerir una lubricación más frecuente.)

Esta lubricación debería sólo ser intentada por especialistas capacitados en la reparación de herramientas como los que encontrará en los Centros de Servicio

Sears o en otras organizaciones de servicio calificadas.

Use sólo accesorios Craftsman con su herramienta. Podrá comprar estos accesorios en su tienda Sears o Centro de Servicio Sears local
