Topics:

APEX Data Storage Services overview

APEX Data Storage Services overview

APEX Data Storage Services is an on-premises as-a-Service portfolio of scalable and elastic storage resources.

The underlying infrastructure is selected to match your storage needs, which include the data service type (block or file), performance requirements, and capacity. You pay only for the storage capacity that is used, leaving the system service and maintenance to Dell Technologies Services. In addition, the offer includes on-demand capacity that you pay for only if you use it.

Dell Technologies Services installs the hardware on site and ensures that all systems are up and running.

APEX Data Storage Services provides many benefits, including these key features:

● Managed service —Dell owns the equipment and provides system maintenance, software upgrades, and technical support so that you can focus on workload management.

● 99.99% availability

1

—APEX Data Storage Services is built upon rock-solid Dell EMC storage technology that supports your business-critical workloads.

● Simple Pricing —You pay the same rate for each TB/hr used whether for the base capacity or on-demand usage.

2

● Time to Value

—Dell Technologies can deploy the offer in as few as 14 days 3

to support the needs of your business.

Talk to your Dell Technologies sales representative and see the offer Terms and Conditions for details about these features.

APEX Data Storage Services journey

Based on hardware availability on common underlying platform configurations. Actual hardware availability may vary.

Billing consists of a monthly base capacity charge and on-demand usage charge. Customer is billed for the entire base capacity whether that entire base capacity is used or not. Customer is only billed for the average TBs used over each hour over the month. The bill rate in $/TB/Hr is the same for the base capacity and on-demand usage, but varies by configuration.

Time to Value is measured between order acceptance and activation. Subject to customer credit approval and site qualification, which must be completed before order placement, and customer participation in pre-deployment planning.

Product availability, holidays, and other factors may impact deployment time. US only.

4 Introduction

The onboarding process that is shown below is the same whether you are designing a new offer or expanding an existing offer.

Figure 1. APEX Data Storage Services onboarding process

Design solution

If you are new to APEX Data Storage Services, contact your Dell Technologies sales team to work with your IT architects to design or expand the solution to meet your business needs. If you are familiar with APEX Data Storage Services, your IT architects may choose to define the solution themselves

Defining a solution is the process of matching your business needs to the offer, including:

● Type of storage (block or file).

● The Performance tier (Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3). The tier is based on throughput or Ops/sec for File Services and throughput or IOPS for Block services.

● Base capacity (minimum of 50 TB plus a 25% buffer to support on-demand capacity).

● Subscription term (1 or 3 years).

Your Dell Technologies sales team works through the details with your IT architects as required. If this is your first engagement on an APEX as-a-Service offer, your sales representative onboards you to the APEX Console. You use the APEX Console to order and operate APEX Data Storage Services.

There is no cost to use the APEX Console, however you must go through an onboarding process to gain access. Your Dell

Technologies sales representative helps activate your Dell.com user login and create an Organization in the APEX Console for your company account. Only customers with an activated Dell customer account who have already ordered, or who are intending to order an APEX as-a-Service offer can use APEX Console.

To have your company account set up, provide the name and email address of the employee who will serve as the administrator for the organization. The administrator role includes onboarding other employees who can then access the APEX Console at https://console.delltechnologies.com

.

The sales representative also reviews the APEX Data Storage Services Pre-qualification Checklist with you. The checklist identifies requirements such as VPNs, Active Directory, site requirements, and other facility specifications to ensure that the deployment goes smoothly.

Draft order

When you create a draft order, APEX Console displays the price for your offer. Your Dell Technologies sales representative may assist you with the draft order. You can discuss any questions about the solution design or the pricing with your Dell

Technologies sales representative.

You receive a copy of the Agreement with site connection design and requirements to review your networking and security teams before you proceed with the order.

Submit order

Submitting your order using the APEX Console triggers the Dell factory to begin staging the offer.

Pre-deployment planning

When you are certain that you want to proceed with your order, a Dell Technologies deployment project manager schedules a pre-deployment planning meeting with a deployment planning engineer. The planning engineer works with your IT staff to complete the design by adding details specific to your data center. The engineer also confirms changes that are required, such as opening ports.

Introduction 5

Staging and shipping

Dell Technologies stages the offer in a Dell factory, where the storage and server components, networking switches, and power distribution are installed and cabled. After validation testing, the entire rack is shipped to the selected data center location.

Deployment and service readiness

The Dell Technologies deployment team works with your staff to install and deploy the offer in your data center or hosted location, including configuring storage software and network ports. The deployment team also installs any expansion equipment as required in the future.

The Dell team ensures that managed services are established and activated and that your key users have required role-based access. The customer service owner or IT manager will also have the opportunity to set up storage protection policies and select several service options.

Billing

Billing begins after deployment and upon service activation. Your monthly invoice consists of two charges, each using the same

$/TB/hr rate.

Your billing rate depends on the configuration:

● Base Capacity —You are billed for the entire base capacity whether you use all the base capacity or not.

● On-Demand Usage —You are billed for the TB/hr used during the month.
