P.34 What You Can Do with This Machine The iR7105/iR7095/iR7086 can be connected to a vast array of optional equipment to suit your printing needs. By attaching optional equipment to the iR7105/iR7095/iR7086, you can construct a print-on-demand system that provides high-speed processing of various tasks. For information on the functions which the various items of optional equipment enable you to use, see the instruction manuals for the optional equipment. Finisher Booklet Trimmer Booklet Trimmer-C1 * Enables you to trim the edge of saddle stitched copies for neat output. Paper Folding Unit Perfect Binder Paper Folding Unit-D1 This function automatically folds A3-size paper into A4 size. Originals Trim Copies 5 Finisher-V1/ Saddle Finisher-V2 Preface Enables you to set finishing options for prints, such as stapling and hole punching. Attaching the optional Document Insertion Unit-C1 enables you to add a preprinted cover and saddle stitch to the prints. * The Hole Punch mode can be used only if the optional Punch Unit-U1/W1/X1 is attached. Copying Function * Only the Saddle Finisher-V2 can perform saddle stitching. * Optional equipment have separate instruction manuals. Sending Function Paper Deck-W1/ Paper Deck-X1 Paper Deck Perfect Binder-A1 * High Capacity Stacker-A1 * Enables you to glue together the cover and content pages of a document. If you attach the optional Document Insertion Unit-C1, you can also add preprinted covers to the booklet. Content pages REP Enables you to sort and stack output when printing a large volume of documents, without speeding down the printing process. You can also output sample prints and priority prints to the sample tray, enabling you to work efficiently without having to stop the printing process. Other Useful Features Main Unit High Capacity Stacker Additional Functions Mail Box Function If you attach the Paper Deck to the machine, you have one additional source of paper which can be used for printing jobs. Up to 3,500 sheets of paper (80 g/m ) can be loaded into the paper deck. Front Cover ORT Perfect Binding REP ORT 1 Glued You can attach the handle (included with the stacker) to the internal stacker tray to use it as a trolley. This enables you to easily transport the output. 6 The Control Panel The control panel consists of a touch panel display, for setting the various functions, and physical keys, such as the Start key, Stop key, and the Control Panel Power Switch. The following is an explanation of the keys used in this manual. For more information, see Chapter 1, “Before You Start Using This Machine,” in the Reference Guide. To Confirm or Edit the Job Status If the Processing/Data Indicator or Error Indicator flashes or lights, the status of the device is displayed on the System Monitor screen. Sending Function Press to stop a job in progress, such as a scan job or copy job. Reset Key Additional Functions Press to restore the standard settings of the machine. ID (Log In/Out) Key Press the keys on the upper part of the touch panel display to switch functions. A 2 When B Ex. Send Basic Features screen 8 Copying Function Making a Copy The following is an explanation of the basic procedure for copying a document. For more detailed procedures, see the references to other guides. Preparations Place Your Originals Placed in the feeder Regular Copy Basic Features screen Press [Copy] to switch to the Copy function. If the following screen is displayed, enter the [Dept. Making a Copy Start Copying Copying Function Preface Specify the Number of Copy Sets enter the correct values. The number of copy sets you specify is displayed on the right side of the Regular Copy Basic Features screen. Sending Function . When copying is complete, remove your originals. Press . 10 Copying Function Operating the Express Copy Basic Features Screen This machine includes an Express Copy function. The Express Copy function is useful for advanced users, as it allows you to set the various copying modes with fewer steps than the Regular Copy function. It also enables you to quickly set the Special Features of the machine. Express Copy Basic Features Screen Copy Ratio You can set the machine to adjust the copy ratio automatically, or you can specify the copy ratio manually. Copy Exposure You can adjust the copy exposure. Original Type Selection You can select the original type that is the best match for the quality of your originals. You can set the Special Features of the machine. Scan Originals Book/Page Edit/Shift Process/Layout You can make various settings for the scanning originals. Paper Selection You can set the machine to select the paper size. 2-Sided Copying (see p. 14) This mode enables you to make two-sided copies from one-sided or two-sided originals, or make onesided copies from two-sided originals. Collating Copies Sending Function The Finishing modes can be selected to collate copies in various ways, either by pages or copy sets. Face Up/Face Down Press to specify whether to output paper face up or face down. Standard Key Settings (see p. 25) You can register copy modes that you have specified as Standard Keys. This key is a shortcut key to Standard Key Settings. Interrupt Mode (see p. 14) This mode enables you to interrupt a reserved or current job to make priority copies. Mail Box Function Sample Set (see p. 14) Image Adjustment Others This mode enables you to adjust the sharpness. For more detailed procedures, see the references to other guides. To use other convenient functions (Special Features), press [Special Features] to access the Special Features screen. Regular Copy Basic Features screen * The numbers in the illustrations refer to operation steps. To Enlarge/Reduce an Image to Copy to a Different Size Paper This feature is useful when enlarging or reducing an original of one standard paper size to another, such as enlarging an A4 original to A3 size, or reducing an A3 original to A4 size. Simply select the desired paper size from the displayed keys to automatically set the optimal zoom ratio. Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 3 Original Copy 1 1 2 Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 3 To Staple Sets of Output Together Select the Staple mode to collate copies as in the diagram on the right. Collated copies are stapled in the position you set. For information on the relationship between original orientation, paper orientation, and stapling position, see Chapter 9, “Appendix,” in the Reference Guide. What You Can Do with This Machine (Regular Copy Basic Features Screen) To Interrupt a Long Copy Job to Make Priority Copies Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 1 Preface This mode enables you to interrupt the current job or reserved job to make priority copies. Of course, after you finish making your priority copy, the paused print job automatically resumes. This mode is useful if you need to make an urgent copy during a long copy job. Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 1 To Make a Sample Set before Copying Copying Function [Sample Set] is displayed when you set to make multiple copies in the Collate, Offset Collate, Staple, Cover/Sheet Insertion, or Booklet mode. Before making multiple copies, you can check the copy result by using the Sample Set mode. Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 1 To Copy onto Irregular Sized Paper Mail Box Function Sending Function To copy onto non-standard size paper, simply set the type (such as Plain, Heavy) of the paper, and load it into the stack bypass. 2 1 4 3 Additional Functions 5 Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 3 When copying many single sided originals, printing on both the front and back sides of paper can halve paper costs. Original In the screen on the left, if you press [Option] you can select to make the front and back sides of the copies have the same top-bottom orientation. This makes it easier to see when stapling copies like a calendar. For more detailed procedures, see the references to other guides. The Special Features screen is divided into two screens. Press [ ]/[ ] on the lower left of the screen to switch the screens. Special Features screen (1/3) * The numbers in the illustrations refer to operation steps. Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 To Copy Facing Pages in a Book It is not necessary to reset originals when copying facing pages from a book or bound original, if you use this mode to copy the facing pages onto two separate sheets of papers. Original 1 Copy 1 Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 To Shift the Original Image If you set a zoom ratio smaller than the original, or select a paper size larger than the original, you can set the position to print the output image. This is useful when you want to leave a space blank for writing down notes. You can also press [No. Key Entry] to set the shift direction for the front and back sides of the copy separately. 1 Copy with the Original Image Shifted to the Center 2 Copy with the Original Image Shifted to a Corner Original 3 To Shift the Original Image on the Front and Back Sides of Two-Sided Copies You can shift the image on the front and back sides of prints to a location entered using the numeric keys. The values for the back side can also be automatically set by selecting [Same as Front Side] or [Opposite to Front Side]. Example: To move the original image to the left [Opposite to Front Side] is set. Press [No.Key Entry] in step 1 . Press [Settings]. Example: To move the original image in a diagonal direction 15 Front side Right: 50 mm Top: 100 mm Back side Left: 50 mm Top: 100 mm What You Can Do with This Machine (Special Features Screen) To Erase the Dark Border when Copying a Book Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 Preface This enables you to erase the dark border, as well as center and contour lines that appear if you are copying facing pages in a book or bound original onto a single sheet of paper. With Frame Erase 2 Original 4 Copying Function 1 Copy Copy 3 Without Frame Erase 5 Original Mail Box Function Copy Additional Functions This enables you to scan originals when there are too many to be placed at once, by dividing them into multiple batches. Copies can be made after all of the originals have been scanned. This is also useful when using both the feeder and platen glass to scan originals. Sending Function Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 To Scan Batches of Originals Other Useful Features After placing the next original, press . To Scan a Large Volume of Originals It is possible to set up to 100 sheets in the feeder at one time, but when the number of originals exceeds 100, you will have to use the Job Build function. You can divide your originals into separate batches, and copy them as one document. To Glue the Cover and Content Pages of a Document Together to Make a Booklet Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 You can glue together the cover and content pages when making a booklet. Select whether to copy on the cover page. Select the paper source for the cover. To Compensate for Misalignment Other Useful Features This mode enables you to compensate for the misalignment of the inner and outer pages of a booklet that occurs for each paper type. Trimmed Select [Creep Correction] during step 5 . When trimmed the outer margin of the pages are adjusted to be the same. Copying and Mail Box Guide Chapter 4 To Add a Cover This enables you to set the machine to automatically add front and back covers, sheet insertions, chapter pages, or tab paper using a different type of paper from that used for the main documents. The Encrypted PDF function enables you to create an encrypted PDF and send it. To Send Documents Containing Photos Clearly Text Mode Sending Guide Chapter 3 Text/Photo Mode Photo mode If originals are not scanned correctly, try selecting the original type from the Image Quality drop-down list. Photos can be scanned clearly. If a shimmering, wavy pattern (the Moiré effect) appears on your originals, use the [Sharpness] setting in the Special Features screen to decrease it. 2 1 3 To Change the Scanned Document Size If the text on the edge of documents is cut off, try setting the scanned image size to a size one larger. 1 2 35 Sending Guide Chapter 3 What You Can Do with This Machine (Scan Settings Screen) To Automatically Change the Zoom Ratio According to a Specified Scan Size Sending Guide Chapter 3 Preface This enables you to automatically change the vertical/horizontal zoom ratio of the original to scan according to the specified scan size. The zoom ratio is set between 50 and 200%. You can only set the machine to automatically change the zoom ratio when you have set the resolution to 300 x 300 dpi or 600 x 600 dpi. 2 1 Copying Function 3 To Send Fine Text and Images Clearly Sending Guide Chapter 3 Select where to register the mode [Store]. 1 Sending Function press Additional Functions To Register a Scanning Mode You can also select the resolution from the Scanning Mode drop-down list. This is convenient for storing commonly used resolutions. Mail Box Function You can send fine text in documents more clearly by changing from a 200 x 200 dpi resolution to a high resolution of 300 x 300 dpi or 400 x 400 dpi. Note however, that the file size increases as you increase the resolution. To Send Separately Scanned Documents At Once Other Useful Features 2 Sending Guide Chapter 4 Press to display the screen for scanning your originals. Press to scan another original. When scanning of the originals is complete, press [Done]. 36 Sending Function What You Can Do with This Machine (Send Settings Screen) On the Send Settings screen, you can specify when to send a document and the settings to use when sending, and set to send notification when sending is complete. To Add the Reply Destination to a Sent Document Sending Guide Chapter 5 Press [Reply-to], and select the name to set as the reply destination. It is necessary to set the reply-to address in advance in Address Book Settings from the Additional Functions screen. 2 1 3 Depending on whether the sending method to be used is e-mail, or I-fax, you can also add a sending name or the subject to the name of the attached file. You can confirm whether a certain send setting can be set with the icons to the left of each sending method. When sending an e-mail, you can also set its priority. 37 When PDF (OCR) is set as the file format, set [DocName OCR] to ‘On’ to automatically extract the first text block in the document for use as its filename. What You Can Do with This Machine (Send Settings Screen) To Specify the Time to Start Sending Sending Guide Chapter 5 2 To Send Notification of Completed Sending Copying Function 1 Preface To specify the time to start sending a document, to send a document the first thing the next morning, for example, use Delayed Send. The document is sent at the specified time simply by entering that time. Sending Guide Chapter 5 1 Sending Function Use the Job Done Notice feature to notify yourself if you want to confirm that a job is complete. When sending is complete, you will be notified via e-mail. 2 Sending Guide Chapter 5 Mail Box Function To Confirm a Document Before Sending Set Preview to ‘On’ to display a preview of the document to be sent. To Edit a Destination from a Computer You can edit addresses registered in the address book from a Web browser using the Remote UI of the machine. This is convenient because you can copy and paste e-mail addresses from your computer. 38 Sending Function Overview of Sending Features Pressing [Send] displays the Send Basic Features screen. Sending is the process of using the machine to scan a document and send it to a destination via e-mail or I-fax, or save it on a file server. You can also send a document to different destinations at the same time, for example via e-mail and I-fax, even though they are different sending methods. If you store print settings on the Change Pr. Settings screen, this icon changes to the Documents with Print Settings icon. Documents with Print Settings A document which was stored in a User Inbox from a computer, or scanned and stored in a User Inbox from the Copy Basic Features screen. If you change the print settings of the “Documents without Print Settings” on the Change Pr. Settings screen, this icon changes to the Documents with Print Settings icon. I-Fax RX Document An I-fax document which has been forwarded or received in the Memory RX Inbox or Confidential Fax Inbox of the machine. Saved as an “I-Fax RX Document.” 48 Mail Box Function What You Can Do with This Machine (Change Print Settings Screen) Documents stored in User Inboxes can be printed out whenever necessary.
