1. Vehicle Protection
(a) Place front driver seat in mid position.
(b) Set emergency hand brake.
(c) Remove the negative battery cable (Fig. 1-1).
(1) Protect the fender before starting.
(2) Do not touch the positive terminal with
any tool when removing cable.
(d) Using protective blankets cover front and middle seats, interior of vehicle, and center console forward of shifter.
(e) Wait 90 seconds before proceeding to disassemble vehicle.

(i) Remove the instrument panel lower cover (L)

(1) Affix masking tape around the edge of the instrument panel cluster molding (L)
(the shaded area) to protect the unit from damage.
(2) Remove the instrument panel cluster molding (L), then remove the Bolt.
(3) Remove the bolts from the under side.
(4) Remove the key cylinder cover.
(5) Pull the cover in the direction of the arrow, and remove the clip and claw.
(6) Remove the hood opener.
(7) Remove the fuel lid opener.
(8) Disconnect the wiring connector.
(j) Remove the harness guard bracket at the bottom of the steering column (Fig. 2-9).

NOTE : When putting the mounting bolts back, tighten them to 42.0 N

(3) Remove the rope hook, then remove the screw.
(4) Remove the floor screw.
(5) Pull back the front weather strip.

3. Antenna installation and wiring
(a) Place the template in the position indicated in the diagram on the rear edge of the roof, and provisionally fix it with masking tape (Fig. 3-
1).
(1) Use the pole antenna if equipped to align the template as shown. Otherwise use the ridges in the roof and the rear edge of the roof to align the template in the center(L-
R) of the roof.(Fig 3-1).

(1) Fasten with cords along the body face of the rear gate (Fig. 3-4).
NOTE: Clean all dirt, oil etc. off the body face before sticking the cord rails in place.
(2) Run the cable along the weather strip as far as the rear combination lamp position

NOTE: The weather strip cannot be reused, so do not remove it completely. When inserting the cable beneath the weather strip, peel back the weather strip as shown in the illustration and push the cable under it so that it comes into contact with the body of the car.

(e) Run the antenna cable into the luggage compartment (Fig. 3-6).
(1) The antenna cable should be routed through the Hole with the cap as shown
(Fig. 3-6).
(2) The antenna cable should then be routed through the same hole as the tail lamp harness and into the luggage compartment (Fig. 3-6).

(f) Wrap the cushion tape around the antenna cable.
(1) Lay the antenna cable as shown in the illustration, hold it temporarily in position with masking tape, and then fix it securely with the grommet (Fig. 3-7).

(2) Remove the masking tape and then wrap the cushion tape around the cable as shown in the illustration (Fig. 3-8).

(h) Use tie wraps to fasten the antenna cable to the harness shown in the diagram (Fig. 3-10).
(i) Use a side cutter to cut off the excess tie wrap length.

(4) Push the lock plate in (Fig. 3-14).
NOTE: Refer to procedure #5 on page 20 for details on laying the cable through to the tuner attachment area.
4. Tuner cable wiring
(a) Wiring to the audio unit
(1) Pull the tuner cable from the position at the bottom right-hand side of the steering column as shown in the illustration through to the audio attachment area (Fig.
4-1).
(2) Fasten the cable to the indicated harness with tie wraps.
(3) Use a side cutter to cut off the excess tie wrap length.

(4) Remove the audio harnesses (12P) from the audio head unit and connect the tuner cable (Fig. 4-2).
(5) Connect the tuner cable to the audio head unit (Fig. 4-2).
NOTE: The illustration shows a vehicle equipped with EMV, but the procedure is the same for standard audio.
(6) Wrap cushion tape around the connector connection position (Fig. 4-3).
(7) Re-Install the audio head unit.
(b) Lay the cable from the bottom of the steering column through to the cowl side
(1) Secure it to the duct shown in the illustration with ½ cushion tape (Fig. 4-4).
(2) Using scissors cut one 50mm x 100mm cushion tape in half to make two 50mm x 50mm cushion tapes (Fig 4-4).
(3) Fasten the cable to the indicated harness with tie wraps (Fig. 4-4).
(4) Use a side cutter to cut off the excess tie wrap length.
Pass it through the harness guide.

(1) Pull the tuner cable from the location shown in the illustration through to the audio amp (Fig. 4-6).

5. Ground Cable, Tuner Cable and Antenna
Cable Wiring
(a) Secure the ground cable in place with the bolt shown in the illustration (Fig. 5-1).
(b) Pull the ground cable, the tuner cable and the antenna cable through to the tuner attachment area (Fig. 5-2).
(1) The tuner cable should be routed to the rear of the vehicle as shown.
(2) The tuner cable, ground cable, and antenna wire should be routed to the back side of the vehicle structural panel as shown.
(3) This should be done from a point above the ground screw location where the vehicle harness branches. The wire harness should then pass between the oil inlet and steel plate to the tuner attachment area.

(2) Reattach the accessory box onto its original position on the luggage side lower trim (Fig. 6-11).
(3) Connect the antenna cable and tuner cable to the tuner (Fig. 6-11).

Press it onto the luggage side lower time, and then stick on adhesive sheet C.

Make sure the tuner cable is not laid on top of the antenna connector.
Store all of the cables within a distance of 40 mm of the surface of the tuner.
(k) Secure the tuner cable in place onto the tuner with the cushion tape (Fig. 6-12).
(l) Secure the excess lengths of the cables onto the position shown in the illustration with cushion tape (Fig. 6-12).
NOTE: Use ½ cushion from step 4 (b) as shown (Fig 6-12).

7. Completing the installation
(a) Complete the reassembly of the vehicle.
(1) Reconnect any disconnected connectors.
(2) Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them.
(b) Re-install vehicle components:

(c) Clean up and remove any trash.
(d) Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable (Fig. 7-1).
(1) Position the negative terminal to the original factory position.
(2) Tighten the nut to 4.1N•m (36 lbf•in).
(3) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when replacing the cable.
