Installation instructions for kit number 765639

SYNOPSIS / PROBLEM:

This kit contains the parts needed to install a repair plate on the bottom of the hopper frame tube on the model 830--II sweeper. This repair plate will strengthen the hopper bottom frame tube in the area where the tilt back roller comes in contact with the hopper bottom.

Please follow step-by-step instructions.

SPECIAL TOOLS / CONSIDERATIONS: Grinder, cutting wheel, and welder.

(Estimated time to complete: 3--4 hour)

PREPARATION:

(Refer to FIG. 1, 2 and 3)

FOR SAFETY: Before leaving or servicing machine, stop on level surface and set parking brake.

1. Make sure the hopper is empty.

2. Tilt, but do not raise the hopper. Engage the hopper support pin.

WARNING: Tilted hopper may fall. Engage hopper support pin.

3. Use the dimensions in Fig. 2 to mark and cut the damaged section out of the hopper frame tube. Grind the cut area to accommodate the repair plate (1).

4. Position the repair plate (1) into the newly cut section of hopper frame tube. Use a .125 in

(1/8 in) spacer under the hopper tube as shown in Fig. 3 to correctly align the repair plate

(1) with the bottom of the hopper.

The repair plate (1) must be flush to the spacer and parallel to the bottom of the hopper in both directions.

5. Weld the repair plate (1) into place (the repair plate ends up being .125 in (1/8 in) below the level of the existing hopper frame tube-- --but parallel).

6. Remove the support pin and tilt the hopper down.

7. Check to make sure the hopper tilt roller is correctly engaging the new repair plate (1).
