N O T E
68 If the unit appears to hang after either “The volume is clean. Windows has finished checking the disk”, or “please wait while Windows starts”, then please note the following:
The Tyan motherboard only had one video device from which to choose; it was the PCI slot video card. There was an internal output from this video card which drove the 1680-series logic analyzer flat panel display, and there was an external monitor output on the back of the PCI video card. Both the internal output and the external monitor output on the back of the PCI video card always displayed the same data.
However, the Motorola VP22 motherboard has this same PCI video card plus a external monitor output on the motherboard.
Before concluding that the motherboard is failing to boot, check the external monitor output, and be certain that the output is not merely being sent to that output instead of the flat panel display. This is likely.
You may need to connect an external monitor while you are booting Windows XP on this motherboard for the first time in order to get through all the required inputs.
