ZyXEL Communications NBG-419N is a wireless home router that provides a secure and reliable internet connection for your home or small office. With its fast 802.11n Wi-Fi technology, the NBG-419N can provide speeds of up to 300Mbps, making it ideal for streaming video, gaming, and other bandwidth-intensive activities. The NBG-419N also features four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections, a USB port for sharing files and printers, and a built-in firewall to protect your network from online threats.

Purpose
This guide will assist you in the basic installation and setup of the ZyXEL NBG-419N wireless home router and is written for Windows ®XP, Windows ®Vista, Windows ®7, and
MAC Operating systems. The initial configuration must be done through a hard-wired
Ethernet cable from your computer to the router. This router is compatible with ADSL
(modem required) and Broadband (FTTH).
Hardware Installation
• Connect the antennas to the antenna sockets. Ensuring they are screwed in securely and angled upward. If wall mounted the antennas should be straight (parallel to the body of the router).

• Connect the Ethernet port of your computer to one of the LAN ports on the NBG-
419N.
• Connect an Ethernet cable from the WAN port on the NBG-419N to the Data jack going to the internet. The Data jack could be on the back of your modem or router. If you are connecting to the new fiber network, you can connect directly to the wall jack.
• Use the Power Adapter to connect the POWER socket to an appropriate power source.
Note: These steps are only required for the initial router setup.

• Launch your web browser. If the screen shown below does not automatically start, type http://192.168.1.1
into the address bar of your browser.
• When asked for the Password enter 1234 and click the Login button.

• Select your Language and click the Connect to Internet button to start the Internet
Detection tool.
• The Internet Detection tool will attempt to automatically discover the type of
Internet connection.

• If the Internet Detection tool discovers a DHCP internet connection, there are no additional steps for Internet Detection .
• Click the Next button to continue the setup.
• Proceed to the next page.
Note: If the Internet Detection tool does not correctly detect the Internet
Connection Type , call the telephone office for directions.
If DHCP does not appear by default in the drop down box, this is an indication that there is no communication between the NBG-419N and the previously installed modem/router.

Router Password
You’ll next be asked to change the Admin password. Simply type and confirm the new password, then click Next . This password is used during the initial setup and if you need to edit the routers configuration.
Note: Document your new Admin Password on the last page.

Wireless Security
We’ll now set up your wireless settings. These settings will have to be entered into any wireless computer accessing your wireless network.
• Begin by entering a name for the SSID (this is the name that all wireless computers on this network will see and use). For example; MyHomeNetwork .
Notes:
• Enter a descriptive name (up to 32 characters). Try not to use a name for the SSID that will identify who you are. For example; JohnSmithNetwork .
• If you change this field on the NBG-419N, make sure all wireless stations use the same SSID in order to access the network.
• Document your SSID on the last page.

• From the Security mode: drop-down, select a Wireless Security method. We recommend WPA-PSK .

• Enter a password into the Wireless password: field. Be sure to choose a password only you will know.
• Enter the password again into the Verify Password field.
• Click Next .
Notes:
• This SSID and Wireless Password have to be entered into any wireless computer wanting to access the internet through your wireless router.
• Document your Wireless Network Name (SSID) and Wireless password on the last page.

• Finally you’ll be greeted with the Congratulations screen. Click Go to close the Wizard and proceed to the routers main dashboard.
• You have completed setting up your wireless router. You may now logout of the main dashboard and exit your internet browser.
Note: Once the initial installation/activation of the NBG-419N is complete, you are now free to remove the Ethernet cable from the computer and the LAN port on the back of the router if you plan to use your computer wirelessly. To add more devices to the NBG-419N, simply plug the devices into the AC outlet and follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedure for connecting Wi-Fi devices.

Resetting the NBG-419N to Its Factory Defaults
If you would like to reprogram your NBG-419N, you can do so by resetting it to factory defaults. If you reset the NBG-419N, you lose all of the changes you have made. The NBG-
419N re-loads its default settings, and the password resets to 1234 . You have to make all of your changes again. Follow the steps below to RESET your router to factory defaults.
IMPORTANT: You will lose all of your changes when you push the RESET button.
To RESET the NBG-419N:
1.
Make sure the power LED is on.
2.
Press the RESET button for longer than one second to restart/reboot the NBG-419N.
3.
Press the RESET button for longer than five seconds to set the NBG-419N back to its factory-default configurations.
If the NBG-419N restarts automatically, wait for the NBG-419N to finish restarting, and log in to the Web Configurator. The password is 1234 .
If the NBG-419N does not restart automatically, disconnect and reconnect the NBG-
419N’s power. Then, follow the directions above again.
