General installation instructions

Precautions

The plumbing installation must be undertaken in accordance with local water authority regulations and these Installation instructions.

As the installer, it is your responsibility to supply (if necessary) and install all valves as required by local regulations and relevant standards.

The chiller and filtration systems are indoor units and must not be exposed to the elements.

Take care, when bending rigid plastic tubing, to prevent it from kinking or crushing around a bend. The plastic tubing contains water under mains pressure, be careful not to nick, scratch or damage it during installation.

Cut the tube squarely with a sharp knife or tube cutter. Shake out and remove any swarf and debris before connection.

Ensure there is adequate ventilation available through the chiller space. If there is inadequate ventilation, and the chiller space temperature rises to above 40°C, the chiller may become damaged and malfunction, which will void the product warranty.

For the CH103 there must be a minimum 168cm 2 of cross-flow ventilation. Suitable holes or vents will need to be cut into the cupboard and door.

If the incoming mains cold water supply pressure exceeds 0.7 MPa (7.0 bar) a pressure reducing valve is required to be fitted in the supply line, (see Spare parts and accessories, page 3).

Electrical

Electrical connection must be made by a Zip service engineer or a qualified electrician. (See Safety information, page 2).

This appliance must be earthed.

DO NOT turn the electricity supply on until the system has been purged. (See

Commissioning, page 9).

installation instructions

Refer to the configuration diagram page 6.

Note It is important to install an isolating valve (not supplied) in the incoming mains cold water supply line before the connection to Zip chiller products.

Installing the chiller and filter head

Site the under counter chiller unit into the cupboard as close to the dispensing tap position as is possible, to minimise the length of tubing exposed between the chiller unit and the dispensing tap. Secure the filter head to the wall, cupboard side or back (with the 2off 3/4” self tap screws provided) in a convenient location between the incoming mains water supply and the chiller unit, again minimise tube lengths where possible. Allow 260mm minimum clearance between the underside of the filter head and any obstructions .

Allow an envelope of at least 50mm around the chiller unit to permit free airflow.

Both the top and the front of the chiller must remain accessible for servicing purposes.

Electrical connection

Electrical connection must be made by a Zip service engineer or a qualified electrician. (See Safety information page 2).

Connect to water supply

Install the isolation valve (not supplied) in the mains cold water supply line, in the under-counter cupboard space. Using the 15mm compression fitting supplied, connect the pressure limiting multifunction valve assembly to the incoming water supply line.

Note Before assembling the compression fitting to the valve, apply sufficient PTFE tape to the thread to ensure a water tight connection.

Do not turn the water on until the complete system has been connected.

Installing the tap

Install the Heavy duty ChillTap ® in a position where there is a Ø 45mm wide flat area within the draining area of the sink, ensuring that the selected position allows the water from the spout to safely drain away.

Use a 22mm sheet metal punch to create a neat hole without burrs.

Remove the plastic nut and lower rubber washer from the base of the tap, leaving the rubber-sealing ring in place, then fit the tap in place, oriented so that the lever is operated towards the user.

Slide the lower rubber washer and plastic nut over the tap connection tubes, (under the sink), and tighten the nut to secure the tap firmly into place.

Connecting the system together

Note Ensure that the plastic pipes from the chiller unit are insulated with the tube insulation provided, use any tube insulation left over to insulate pipes from the filter head.

The pressure limiting multifunction valve supplied must be fitted.

Ensure that all connections to push fit fittings are pushed in past the O-ring to full depth, at least 15-16mm (see diagrams opposite).

Connect the white tube from the tap to the outlet of the filter housing. (marked with arrow pointing away from filter head), trim to length before fitting.

Connect the red tube from the tap to the push fit fitting marked INLET on the top right rear of the chiller unit, trim to length before fitting.

CH104 Wall Fountain installation instructions

Zip Wall Fountain should only be installed by a competent installer in accordance with local water authority by-laws and these instructions.

Zip Wall Fountain is designed to be recess mounted within a wall. The bottom should sit on a supporting flat and level plinth at least 100mm above finished floor level. The plinth height determines the final height of the dispensing tap, as the tap base is fixed at 915mm above the bottom of the unit.

Check that there is enough free space within the wall to allow for completely recessing the Wall Fountain. The top half recesses 270mm and the bottom half requires a depth of 350mm to allow for the chiller unit and to provide adequate ventilation space.

Wall cut-out

The cut-out dimensions are 1630mm high by 555mm wide.

The Wall Fountain has a 40mm flange on both sides and the top, designed to cover gaps or rough edges to the recessed aperture. The bottom front edge has no flange, so the plinth must be finished level and neat as it will always remain visible.

Ensure the cut-out is square and even to allow the Wall Fountain to fit without distortion.

Note It is important to install an isolating valve (not supplied) in the incoming mains cold water supply line before the connection to Zip chiller products.

Positioning and installing the Wall Fountain cabinet and chiller unit

Fit the Wall Fountain cabinet into the recessed aperture in the wall until the surrounding flange is flush with the front face of the wall. Anchor the Wall

Fountain securely to prevent movement. Secure the filter head to the wall in a convenient location (with the 2off 3/4” self tap screws provided) between the incoming mains water supply and the chiller unit, minimise tube lengths where possible.

The chiller unit sits on the base tray of the Wall Fountain cabinet.

Allow at least 50mm all around the chiller unit for free airflow ventilation.

Electrical connection

Electrical connection must be made by a Zip service engineer or a qualified electrician. (See Safety information page 2).

Connect to drainage piping

Connect the 40mm PVC drain pipe from the sink bowl to an appropriate waste in accordance with local by-laws.

Keep the drainage piping clear of the chiller space, approx. 380mm above the base tray.

Connect to water supply

Install an isolation valve in the incoming mains cold water supply line in the area behind the Wall Fountain so that it can be accessed through the front louvered panel.

Using the 15mm compression fitting supplied, connect the pressure limiting multifunction valve assembly to the incoming mains cold water supply line.

Note Before assembling the compression fitting to the valve, apply sufficient

PTFE tape to the thread to ensure a water tight connection.

Do not turn the water on until the complete system has been connected.

Installing the tap

Remove the plastic nut and lower rubber washer from the base of the tap, leaving the rubber-sealing ring in place.

Fit the tap in place in the hole provided on the front left hand edge of the basin, oriented so that the lever is operated towards the user.

Slide the lower rubber washer and plastic nut over the tap connection tubes,

(under the sink bowl), and tighten the nut to secure the tap firmly into place.

Commissioning

Commissioning

Ensure all pipes and cables are secure. After the system is correctly installed and connected, turn the incoming mains cold water supply on. Check all connections for leaks. Repair as necessary, again turn on the incoming mains cold water supply and then the electricity supply.

The chiller unit takes up to 20 minutes to chill its contents to the rated temperature, depending on the ambient temperature of the water.

Following installation, the chiller system will contain air, which needs to be purged. To purge the system of air follow the instruction in the Filter replacement section below.

CH104 remove the protective wrapping & clean the stainless steel surfaces.

Dispose of the packaging wisely.

Operation

Operation

Chilled water is obtained by pulling the lever on the tap forward. The water is chilled by a refrigeration unit fitted within the under counter chiller.

Using the Heavy Duty ChillTap ®

, you can obtain chilled water within the rated capacity for as long as you pull forward the lever. The lever will self return, and close the tap once finger pressure has been removed.

Changing the filter

For safe operation, the filter cartridge should be replaced at least every 6-12 months, or earlier if you notice a persistent reduction in water pressure from the tap or an unpleasant taste or odour in the water.

For safe operation, thoroughly flush the water through after periods of non-use longer than 12 hours.

Not changing the filter cartridges when required may cause the water to become biologically unsafe.

Use only a Zip filter to match the one used in your chiller product (see Spare parts and accessories page 3). The filter cartridge can be obtained through plumbing suppliers or direct from Zip. The filter is located behind the front access panel on the CH104. The installation date should be written on the filter cartridge. No special tools or skills are required to install the filter cartridge.

• For the CH104, unlock the front louvre panel to locate the filter. For the

CH103, locate the filter in the under-sink cupboard.

• Grasp the filter cartridge firmly and twist it horizontally a quarter turn clockwise until it stops.

Some water will drip from the filter head during the replacement process so it is a good idea to have a bucket and cloth handy to catch and mop up any spills.

• Gently ease the cartridge downwards to detach it from the filter head, then pull it out and discard responsibly. Take care not to tip it up once

Filter replacement

continued free as water may spill out.

• Write the date of replacement on the new filter cartridge label.

• Remove the protective plastic cap. The insertion method is the opposite to the removal method. Align the tabs of the replacement cartridge with the filter head and insert it up into the filter head.

• Turn the replacement cartridge a quarter turn anti-clockwise until it stops and locks into position.

• When the filter replacement has been completed, purge the system of trapped air by dispense water from the tap until it flows without any further spluttering. Run the water for at least 2 minutes more to complete the purge.

• For the CH104 refit the front louvred panel, clean any marks on the stainless steel surface, wipe dry any water spills.

Cleaning

Cleaning

Never use strong, corrosive or abrasive cleaning materials on the Zip ChillTap ®

,Wall Fountain or under counter chiller unit. Wipe clean the outer surfaces with a sponge or a soft cloth using a mild soap and water.

The louvres on the sides of the chiller unit and the Wall Fountain cabinet need to be kept free of dust and lint to permit free flow of air through the vents. They should be checked regularly, at least monthly, and dusted or vacuumed.

Service

Service
