Maintenance and specifications
•
DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment.
•
DO ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains plug, extension leads and inter-connections between the pieces of equipment) are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

DO consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your equipment.
•
DO route the mains lead so that it is not likely to be walked on, crushed, chafed, or subjected to excessive wear and tear or heat.
• DON’T remove any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages.
• DON’T obstruct the ventilation openings of the equipment with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment.
• DON’T allow electrical equipment to be exposed to dripping or splashing, or objects filled with liquids, such as vases, to be placed on the equipment.

DON’T place hot objects or naked flame sources such as lighted candles or nightlights on, or close to equipment.
High temperatures can melt plastic and lead to fires.

DON’T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch off, withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.

DON’T use equipment such as personal stereos or radio so that you are distracted from th requirements of traffic safety.
• DON’T listen to headphones at high volume, as such use can permanently damage your hearing.
• NEVER let anyone especially children push anything into holes, slots or any other opening in the case - this could result in a fatal electrical shock.

NEVER guess or take chances with electrical equipment of any kind - it is better to be safe than sorry!

CAUTION - Your CD player & radio incorporates a laser.
If you use the controls, make adjustments, alter performance, or use the product differently from the procedures given in these instructions you may be exposed to hazardous radiation. Do not open any covers and do not repair yourself. Repair work must be carried out by qualified personnel.

Connection diagram
Control cable -
Connect the control cable to the CD player and the amplifier
FM aerial - extend the
FM aerial until you get a good reception.
Grounding wire -
Connect the grounding wire to reduce noise
MW aerial - Turn the MW aerial until you get the best reception.

Information
Ensure that the mains plug is not connected until all the connections to the hifi have been made.
Speaker wire - Connect the left speaker (gold wire to black clip and silver wire to red clip) to the left side speaker ports (gold-black and silver-red).
Speaker wire - Connect the right speaker (gold wire to black clip and silver wire to red clip) to the right side speaker ports (goldblack and silver-red).
Plug - After all connections have been made, plug into a mains outlet.

Using your CD player
You can perform some functions using either the buttons on the hi-fi or the remote control.

Information
Insert batteries
Insert two ‘AAA’ size batteries into the remote control as shown above. You can operate your unit using either the remote control or the buttons on the unit.
You must make sure that you are pointing the remote control directly at the remote sensor on the unit with no obstacles in the way.
Loading a CD
Press the STANDBY button to turn the unit on. Press the CD button on the remote control.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD cover. Load a
CD (label side up) into the CD tray. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the CD cover.
The CD open/close button will only work in CD mode.
Playing a CD
Press the PLAY/PAUSE /II button to play your CD. Press the
PLAY/PAUSE /II button while a CD is playing to pause the
CD. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to resume playing the CD.
Press the STOP/MEMORY button to stop playing your CD.
All the features in this book are described using the remote control. Some of the functions can also be accessed using the buttons on the unit which may be marked up differently to those on the remote control.

Using the different CD features
Play a CD and then press the STOP button before using the MEMORY feature.

Adjust the volume by pressing the VOL +/buttons.
Skipping through tracks
Press the CHAN. +/- buttons to skip forwards or backwards through the tracks on your CD.
Programming tracks
Press the PRG. button in stop mode.
Press the numbered buttons on your remote control to select the tracks that you wish to program
(up to a total of 15 tracks).
Press the PLAY button to play your selection.
Press the +10 button to select numbers above 9. For example to select track number 21, press the +10 button twice and then the 1 button.
Using the REMN. feature
Press the REMN. button on the remote control when a CD is playing to see how long is left on the current track. Press The
REMN. button again to see how long is left on the CD. Press the
REMN. button a third time to return the display to normal.

Using the different CD features
Using the INTR. feature
Press the INTR. button on the remote control to play a ten second introduction to every track on your CD.
Using the REP. feature
Press the REP. button on the remote control to repeat the current track when a CD is playing. Press the REP. button a second time on the remote control to repeat the whole CD.
Press the REP. button a third time on the remote control to turn the repeat feature off.
Using the RANM. feature
Press the RANM. button on the remote control when your CD is in stop mode to play the tracks on your CD in random order.
Your CD will automatically start playing when you press the
RANM. button.
NOTE: You cannot turn the random function off while your
CD is playing. Press the STOP button to clear the random feature.

Information
You can connect external sources such as a DVD player to your hi-fi. Use the AUX sockets on the back of the hi-fi to make the necessary connections.
Press the AUX1 or
AUX2 buttons to access the external source.

Using the Tuner

Using the Tuner
Press the TUNER/BAND button on the remote control, either FM or MW will appear in the display. Press the TUNER/BAND button to change between FM and MW wavebands. Press the
TUNE+/- buttons to change the frequency. Press and hold down the TUNE +/- buttons to search quickly for the nearest strong signal.
Presetting radio stations
Find the radio station that you want to make a preset station.
Press the MEMORY button. Press the numbered buttons on the remote control to select which preset number the station will be set to. Press the memory button to confirm your choice. Repeat the process presetting other stations.
You can preset 16 stations on
FM and 16 stations on MW wavebands.
Changing FM reception
When you are listening to an
FM stereo broadcast, ‘STEREO’ will show in the display. If the broadcast is not very good, press the ST./MO. button to change to mono. The reception should improve but you will lose any stereo effect. Press the
ST./MO. button to change back to stereo mode again.
Make sure that you have correctly connected the FM and
MW aerials before using the tuner function.

Setting the clock
Setting the clock (24 hour)
Press the CLK. button twice (the hours will flash in the display).
Press the TUNE +/- buttons to change the hours. Press the CLK button to confirm the hours (the minutes will flash in the display).
Press the TUNE +/- buttons to change the minutes. Press the
CLK button to confirm the time and start the clock operating at the new set time.
The clock operates in a 24 hour format only.
Setting the sleep timer
Use the sleep timer to turn your system off after a set amount of minutes.
Play a CD or set a radio station.
Press the SLP button continuously to choose between 10 and 90 minutes (in ten minute intervals).
If you set sleep for 50 minutes, your system will turn itself off after 50 minutes.
Setting the daily timer
Use the daily timer to turn the system on at a set time.
In standby mode:
• Press the SLP button twice.
• Press the TUNE +/- buttons to set the hour to turn on.
• Press the SLP button to confirm the hours (the minutes will flash in the display).
• Press the TUNE +/- buttons to change the minutes.
• Press the SLP button to confirm the time.
• Press the TUNE +/- buttons to set the timer to on.

You will only have 3 seconds to perform each stage of the instructions on this page. If you take any longer the display will go back to the previously set time display.

Using other features

Press the DARK button continuously to darken the display (3 levels).
Using the EQ. feature
Press the EQ.(equalizer) button continually on the remote control to change between POPS,
ROCK, CLAS (classical), FLAT and JAZZ sound settings.
Using the Mute feature
Press the MUTE button to completely cut the sound from your Hi-fi. Press the MUTE button or VOLUME +/- button to turn the sound back on again.
S-BASS and LOUD features
Press the S-BASS button to turn the super bass feature on in CD mode only. Press the S-BASS button again to turn it off.
Press the LOUD button to increase the treble and bass intensity. Press the LOUD button again to turn it off.
Press the CLK. button in either CD or tuner mode to show the clock in the display for a few seconds.
