FULL RANGE DIGITAL AMPLIFIER

Before You begin installation

Congratulations and thank you for purchasing your Crescendo amplifier, the logical choice in mobile audio amplification. Your amplifier has been designed and engineered with the highest quality components and top of the line workmanship to help you reach the superior sound you are after.

To achieve optimal performance of your system, please take a few moments to read over this operating manual if needed before starting your installation.

Amplifier Location

Allow air circulation around the amplifier.

The amplifier’s compact design allows greater flexibility in mounting. It can be mounted under the seat and in the trunk.

When selecting a location, remember that amplifiers generate heat.

Select a location where air can circulate around the amplifier.

Do not cover the amplifier with carpets or enclose it behind interior trim panels.

Every installation will be a bit different based upon vehicle design, check all locations and placements carefully before making any cuts or connections.

Disconnect Battery

Before you begin, always disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Important:

If wiring connections are made incorrectly the unit will not operate properly and could be damaged.

Follow the installation instructions carefully or have the amplifier installed by an authorized dealer.

Things to remember when installing your

SYMPHONY

amplifiers.

The design philosophy of SYMPHONY amplifiers and mode of regulation requires that proper installation and load impedance instructions be adhered to at all times.

Minimum impedance recommended for S1 is 1ohm.

Minimum impedance for S2 & S4 are 2ohm stereo or 4 ohm bridged.

All SYMPHONY amplifiers are not equipped with fuses. Please use external fuses for all SYMPHONY amplifiers.

External fuse ratings are 120A for S1, 50A for S2 and 60A for S4.

These fuse ratings should be sufficient under normal working conditions. However, if the amplifiers are overloaded ( see minimum impedance above ) fuses may blow.

Therefore, please try to avoid operating the amplifiers under these conditions.

1. Mount the amplifiers where air flow is the best.

2. Mount the amplifiers to a solid surface away from vibration, as these amplifiers are heavy and the vibration can damage the amplifiers.

3. Run 4 gauge wire from the battery, using fuses within 18” of the positive battery terminal.

The fuse is to protect the car and your car audio system from the fire that could be caused by a short circuit.

4. Run 4 guage ground wire as short as possible, to the closest chassis ground point.

Be sure to remove the paint around the chassis ground point to provide a more solid electrical connection.

5. Run a 16 AWG ( or larger ) wire to the remote turn-on lead of the headunit.

6. Connect the speakers as per wiring diagrams in the manual.

14AWG or larger speaker wire is recommended.

7. Mount remote level control in the car where it can be easily reached from the driver’s seat, if desired.

8. Using RCA interconnect cables, connect all line inputs per the wiring diagrams which follow.

If possible, keep RCA cables away from the 12V power and ground wire.

9. Set the controls as described on following pages.

12V ( POWER CONNECTION )

Before mounting amplifiers, disconnect the negative ( - ) cable from your grounded battery to protect any accidential damage to your awesome amplifiers and audio system.

SYMPHONY

amplifiers are designed to use 4 guage power and ground connection.

Connect the power cables to power terminal + 12V.

SYMPHONY amplifiers are not equipped with fuses because they do not like to be bossed around.

External fuses should be used.

Connect one end of fuse holder to the power cable going into the amplifiers and the other end of fuse holder to positive battery.

This fuse location will protect the system and the vehicle against the possibility of a short circuit in the power cable.

Be sure to use fuses and fuse holder adequate for the application.

REM ( REMOTE )

Run a remote turn on cable ( at least 16 guage ) from the switched + 12V source .

This may be a toggle switch, a relay, your source unit's remote trigger cables, or power antenna trigger cable.

Connect the remote turn on cable to the REM ( remote ) terminal.

GND ( GROUND )

Locate a secure grounding connection as close to amplifier as possible.

Make sure the location is clean and provides a direct electrical connection to the frame of the vehicle.

The ground needs to have as low of a resistance as possible.

Connect one end of a short piece of the same size cable as the power cable to the grounding point or to one of your batteries or battery bank.

Run the other end of 4 guage cable to the mounting location of the amplifiers for connection to the amplifiers ground terminals and connect the ground cable to the GND ( ground terminal ).

MONOBLOCK DIGITAL INPUT & OUTPUT CONNECTION

RCA INPUTS

The RCA inputs ensure the highest quality contacts and the lowest noise in your audio system.

POWER & PROTECT INDICATORS -

When the unit is powered on and operating correctly the power LED illuminates.

When the unit is malfunctioning or in protect, the protect LED will be on.

HIGH PASS FILTER ( 20Hz - 5KHz )

Controls the high pass cutoff point for the speaker outputs.

HPF can be selected with X-over switch located next to it.

X-OVER ( HPF/ FULL /LPF )

At HPF, High pass filter is activated

At FULL, It is bypass.

At LPF, Low pass filter are activated.

GAIN ( 6V - 0.2V )

This adjusts the normal operating level of the amplifier by matching the level from the headunit.

SUBWOOFER USE

Using your head units subwoofer crossover section, or an inline active crossover, set the subwoofer crossover to your desired frequency there and then set the S1 amplifier to the FULL x-over setting and set gain as needed. If using a full range signal from your source, set S1 x-over setting to LPF and adjust LPF gain pot to 80Hz.

LOW PASS FILTER ( 50Hz - FULL )

This allows you to tune the response of the amplifier at higher bass frequencies to roll off for a seamless integration into your midbass.

BASS BOOST ( 0 - 9dB )

This allows you to tune amplifier response with up to 9dB of boost centered at 45Hz

REMOTE CONTROL

Use this to control level of the amplifier from your driver’s seat.

GROUND ( GND ) & POWER ( +12V )

The power and ground will accommodate 4 guage wire.

Use high quality pure copper wire only.

REMOTE ( REM )

REM connector will accept wire sizes from12 to 16 guage.

This terminal is used to remotely turn-on and turn-off the amplifier when +12V DC is applied.

SPEAKER TERMINAL BLOCK

Connect speaker cables from speaker terminal block to subwoofers.

Subwoofers impedance should be checked carefully.

S1 minimum impedance is 1ohm.

S2 & S4 MULTI-CHANNELS INPUT & OUTPUT CONNECTION

RCA INPUTS

Connect preamp signal cables from the source or the headunit to RCA input.

Select HPF ON/OFF switch

LOW PASS FILTER ( 50(500)Hz - 800(8K)Hz )

Control the low pass filter frequency forthe speaker outputs.

GAIN ( 6V - 0.2V )

Matching the output voltage of the headunit’s

RCA line-outs to amplifier’s input.

HIGH PASS FILTER ( 20(200)Hz - 800(8K)Hz )

Control the high pass filter frequency for the speaker outputs.

When setting multiply x1, then the frequencies can be adjusted from 20Hz to 800Hz.

When setting multiply x10, then the frequencies can be adjusted from 200Hz to 8KHz.

When setting multiply x1, then the frequencies can be adjusted from 50Hz to 800Hz.

When setting multiply x10, then the frequencies can be adjusted from 500Hz to 8KHz.

Select LPF ON/OFF switch

MODE ( 2CH / 4CH )

Select 2CH mode for a single pair of RCA inputs on CH1&2 to activate all 4 speaker outputs. ( No Y splitter needs )

Select 4CH mode for 2 pair of RCA inputs and standard speaker outputs.

REMOTE CONTROL ( OPTIONAL )

Use this to control level of the amplifier from your driver’s seat.

GROUND ( GND ) & POWER ( +12V )

The power and ground will accommodate 4 guage wire.

Use high quality pure copper wire only.

CLIP LED ( CH1/2, CH3/4 )

When input signal is close to clipping level. CLIP LED begins to light up.

At full clip, the protection LED will light up.

REMOTE ( REM )

REM connector will accept wire sizes from12 to 16 guage.

This terminal is used to remotely turn-on and turn-off the amplifier when +12V DC is applied.

SPEAKER TERMINAL BLOCK

Connect speaker cables from speaker terminal block to full range speakers

Full range speakers impedance should be checked carefully.

S2 & S4 minimum impedance is 2 ohm stereo or

4 ohm bridged. POWER & PROTECT LED

POWER LED ; Blue-lit shows correct operation.

PROTECT LED : Red-lit shows general malfunction, faulty connection, or thermal protection.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

NO SOUND ( NO OUTPUT )

@ Please check all connections, cable rounting, shorts & voltages.

@ Please check the fuses , If they are blown, please replace with new one.

@ Please check whether speakers work well, you can test speakers by connecting to

another amplifier

PROTECTION

@ Please check minimum impedance, overheating (thermal), shorts and voltages.

@ S1 minimum working impedance is 1 ohm.

S2 and S4 minimum working impedance is 2 ohm stereo or 4 ohm bridged.

@ If amplifiers shut down due to heat, allow some time to cool down.Please allow for better

airflow around the amplifiers.

@ S1, S2 and S4 working voltage is 8.5V ~ 16Volts

@ Due to the high efficiency of the amplifier, input signals over 4v (S2 & S4) may cause protect.

Check input signal levels.

DISTORTION & NOISE

@ Readjust input level and check the speaker quality at another amplifier

Replace poor quality speakers with good quality ones

@ Check amplifiers and headunit’s ground contact. all grounds should be common.

@ Check RCA cables for nicks or poor routing. Replace or re-route as needed.

@ Engine noise is caused by poor grounding of amplifiers, headunit, other components,

battery or alternator, so please check all grounding connection.

POOR BASS RESPONSE

@ Please check speaker cables and polarity.

1 Year Limited Warranty

Crescendo Audio strives to satisfy every customer and make absolutely sure that every customer is fairly taken care of in the rare event that your amplifier malfunctions.

Each new Crescendo amplifier is backed by a 1 year limited warranty from date of purchase. A warranty authorized amplifier will be either replaced with a new unit or repaired. Warranty does not cover accidental damage, improper installation/wiring, misuse, abuse, car accident resulting in amplifier failure, failure due to natural disaster, or third party amplifier modifications. This warranty is limited to the amplifier and specifically excludes any incidental or consequential damages connected therewith.

Warranty is non-transferable.

All warranty returns must be sent to Crescendo Audio or our repair facility. Crescendo

Audio is not responsible for damage of a returned amplifier due to poor packaging not suited for proper shipping. So make sure your amplifier return is packed in its factory box or an equivalent!
