On buying the Disc mower you have selected a quality product from KRONE.

We are grateful for the belief you have invested in us as a result of buying this machine.

It is important to read the operating instructions very carefully before you start operating the machine so that the Disc mower may be used to its maximum capacity.

The contents of this manual are laid out in such a way that you should be able to perform any task by following the instructions step by step. It contains extensive notes and information about maintenance, about how to use the machine safely, about secure working methods, special precautionary measures and the accessories which are available. It is essential, important and useful for the operational safety, reliability and durability of the Disc mowe that these notes and information are adhered to.

Please note:

The instruction manual is an integral part of your machine.

Only operate this machine after you have been trained to do so and according to these instructions.

It is essential to observe the safety instructions!

It is also necessary to observe the relevant accident prevention regulations and other generally recognised regulations concerning safety , occupational health and road traffic.

All information, illustrations and technical details in this instruction manual are the latest and most up to date at the time of going to press.

It is within our rights to modify the design at any time and without having to give reasons. 1 General

This operating manual contains basic instructions to follow for assembly, operation and maintenance.

For this reason, these operating instructions must be read by operating personnel before commissioning and use, and need to be available for easy reference.

Follow both the general safety instructions contained in the section on safety and the specific safety instructions contained in the other sections.

This operating manual contains a description of the rear-mounted combination only. For the front-mounted mower is provided a special operating manual which has to be observed in addition to the present one.

1.1 Intended Use

The EasyCut disc mower is for cutting crops on ground level.

The disc mower is designed solely for normal agricultural use (operation in accordance with specifications).

Any use of the machine for other purposes is deemed to be not in accordance with specifications. The manufacturer bears no responsibility for any resulting damage; such use is entirely at the operator´s risk.

Use in accordance with specifications also includes adherence to the operating, maintenance and service instructions prescribed by the manufacturer.

2 Safety

2.1 Identifying Safety Instructions in the Operating Manual

The safety instructions contained in this manual which could result in personal injury if not followed are identified by the general danger sign: safety sign in accordance with DIN 4844 - W9

General function instructions are indicated as follows:

Instructions which are attached to the machine need to be followed and kept fully legible.

2.2 Safety Instructions and

Accident Prevent Regulations

2.2.1 Personnel Qualification and

Training

Persons who use, service or repair the disc mower must be trained in its use and instructed as to the risks connected with its operation. The operator must define spheres of responsibility and monitoring of personnel. Should personnel lack the required knowledge they must receive the required training and instruction. The operator must ensure that the contents of this operating manual have been fully understood by personnel.

Repair work not described in this operating manual should be completed by authorised service centres only.

2.2.2 Failure to Follow the Safety

Instructions

Failure to follow the safety instructions could result in personal injury and environmental hazards as well as damage to the machine. Failure to follow the safety instructions could result in the forfeiture of any claims for damages.

Failure to follow the safety instructions could result, for example , in the following hazards:

– risk to persons by failure to secure the working area

– breakdown of important machine functions

– failure of prescribed methods for repair and maintenance

– risk to persons due to mechanical and chemical effects

– damage to the environment due to leaking hydraulic oil

2.2.3 Working in a Safety Conscious

Manner

Follow the safety instructions included in this operating manual, existing accident prevention rules and any internal work, operating and safety rules set out by the operator.

The safety and accident prevention regulations of the responsible professional associations are binding.

The safety instructions provided by the vehicle manufacturer should also be observed.

Safety

Observe the applicable traffic laws when using public roads (for example, in Germany, the Road Traffic

Type Approval Law and Road Traffic Law).

2.2.4 Safety Instructions and Accident

Prevention Regulations

1. Please follow all generally applicable safety and accident prevention regulations in addition to the safety instructions contained in this manual!

2. The attached warning and safety signs provide important information for safe operation. Pay attention to these for your own safety!

3. When using public roads, make sure to observe the applicable traffic regulations!

4. Make sure that you are familiar with all equipment and controls as well as their functions before you begin working with the machine. It is too late to learn this when you are operating the machine!

5. The user should wear tight fitting clothes. Avoid wearing loose or baggy clothing.

6. Keep the machine clean to prevent the danger of fire!

7. Before starting or moving the machine, make certain that nobody is in the vicinity of the machine! (Watch for children!) Make sure that you have a clear view!

8. Carrying passengers during operation and transport on the working implement is not permitted.

9. Attach implements correctly! Attach and secure implements to specified devices only!

10. When attaching or removing implements, place the supporting devices in the correct positions!

11. Use extreme caution when attaching or detaching implements onto or from the tractor!

12. Always attach ballast weights properly to the fixing points provided!

13. Observe permitted axle loads, gross weight and transport dimensions!

14. Check and attach transport equipment such as lighting, warning devices and any protective equipment!

15. Actuating mechanisms (cables, chains, linkages etc.) for remote controlled devices must be positioned in such a way that no movements are unintentionally triggered at any transport or working positions.

16. Ensure that implements are in the prescribed condition for on-road travel and lock them in place according to the manufacturer's instructions!

17. Never leave the driver's seat when the vehicle is moving!

18. Always drive at the correct speed for the prevailing driving conditions! Avoid sudden changes in direction when traveling uphill or downhill or across a gradient!

19. Attached implements and ballast weights effect the driving, steering and braking response of the machine. Make sure that you are able to brake and steer the machine as required!

20. Take into account the extension radius and/or inertia of an implement when turning corners!

21. Start up implements only when all protective devices have been attached and set in the required position!

22. Keep clear of the working range of the machine at all times!

23. Do not stand within the turning and slewing range of the implement!

24. Never operate the hydraulic folding frames if anyone is inside the slewing range!

25. Parts operated by external power (e.g.

hydraulics) can cause crushing and shearing injuries!

26. Before leaving the tractor, lower the implement onto the ground, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key!

27. No one should stand between the tractor and the implement unless the vehicle has been secured against rolling by the handbrake and/or wheel chocks!

2.2.5 Attached Equipment

1. Special care is required when the implement is being connected to the tractor or disconnected from it!

2. The implement must only be coupled to the appropriate fittings (e.g. the 3-point connection), and they must be so secured (transport, operation) that unintentional lifting or lowering of the implement is not possible

3. When connecting the three-point linkage, it is absolutely essential that the hitching categories of the tractor and attachment (e.g. power take-off shaft speed, hydraulics) are matched!

4. When operating the external controls for threepoint connection, make sure that nobody goes between the tractor and the implement (danger of injury)!

2.2.6 Power Take-Off Operation

1. Use only PTO shafts specified by the manufacturer!

2. The guard tube and guard cone of the PTO and the PTO guard must be attached and in good working condition (on the implement side, too)!

3. Make sure that the required tube covers are in place for PTO shafts in transport and working position!

4. Before installing or removing PTO shafts, disengage the PTO, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key!

5. When using PTO shafts with an overload safety or free-running coupling which are not shielded by the guard on the tractor, mount the overload safety or free-running coupling on the implement side!

6. Always make sure that the PTO shaft is properly installed and secured!

7. Attach chains to prevent the PTO shaft guard from rotating with the shaft!

8. Before engaging the PTO shaft, make sure that the selected PTO shaft speed of the tractor matches the permissible implement speed!

9. Before engaging the PTO shaft, make sure that no one is in the hazard area around the implement!

10. Never engage the PTO shaft if the engine is switched off!

Safety

11. No one should be in the vicinity of the rotating

PTO shaft when it is in use.

12. Always switch off PTO shaft when the angle is too large or the PTO shaft is not required!

13.

Caution!

The flywheel will continue to rotate for some time even after the PTO shaft has been disengaged! Keep clear of the implement during this time. Do not do any work on the implement until the machine has come to a complete standstill and the flywheel has been secured using the hand brake.

14. Disengage the PTO shaft, stop the engine and remove the ignition key before cleaning, lubricating and adjusting the PTO shaft driven implements or the PTO shaft! Secure the flywheel with the hand brake.

15. Place the disconnected PTO shaft onto the bracket provided!

16. After removing the PTO shaft, attach the protective cover to the PTO shaft end!

17. If damage occurs, correct this immediately before using the implement!

2.2.7 Hydraulic System

1. The hydraulic system is pressurized!

2. When connecting hydraulic cylinders and engines, make sure that the hydraulic hoses are connected correctly!

3. When connecting the hydraulic hoses to the tractor hydraulics, make sure that the hydraulics of both the tractor and the implement have been depressurized!

4. In the case of hydraulic connections between tractor and implement, the coupling sleeves and plugs should be marked to ensure a proper connection! If the connections are reversed, the function will be reversed (e.g. raise/lower) - risk of accidents!

5. Check the hydraulic hose lines at regular intervals and replace them if damaged or worn! The new hoses must fulfill the technical requirements set by the manufacturer of the implement!

6. When searching for leaks, use suitable aids to avoid the risk of injuries!

7. Liquids escaping under high pressure (hydraulic oil) can penetrate the skin and cause serious injury! Seek medical help immediately should injuries occur! Risk of infection!

8. Before working on the hydraulic system, lower the implement, depressurize the system and switch off the engine!

2.2.8 Tyres

1. When working on the tyres, make sure that the implement has safely lowered and secured against rolling (wheel chocks).

2. Installing wheels and tyres requires adequate knowledge and suitable tools!

3. Repair work on the tyres and wheels should be done by specially trained personnel using appropriate installation tools only!

4. Check tyre pressure regularly! Inflate the tyres to the recommended pressures!

2.2.9 Maintenance

1. Always make certain that the drive and the engine are switched off before doing any repairs, maintenance or cleaning!

- Remove the ignition key! Secure the flywheel with the hand brake.

2. Regularly check that nuts and bolts are properly seated and tighten if necessary!

3. When doing maintenance work to a raised implement, always use suitable means to secure it against falling.

4. When replacing working tools with cutting edges, use suitable tools and gloves!

5.

Dispose of oils, greases and filters according to regulations!

6. Always disconnect the power supply before working on the electrical system!

7. If protective devices and guards are subject to wear, check them regularly and replace them in good time!

8.

When doing electrical welding on the tractor and attached implements, disconnect the alternator and battery cables!

9. Replacement parts must at least comply with the technical requirements set by the manufacturer of the implements!

This is ensured by using genuine KRONE replacement parts!

10. Only use nitrogen for filling pneumatic accumulators Risk of explosion!

2.2.10 Unauthorized Modification and

Manufacture of Replacement Parts

Modifications to the machine is permitted only with the prior approval of the manufacturer. Genuine replacement parts and accessories authorized by the manufacturer ensure safe use. Use of other parts may void liability for damage which results.

2.2.11 Prohibited Modes of Operation

The operational safety of the machine is guaranteed only if it is used for its intended purpose in accordance with the General Information chapter of the operating manual. The limit values listed in the data charts should not be exceeded under any circumstances.

2.3 Introduction

The KRONE disc mower is equipped with all required safety devices (protective equipment). However, it is not possible to eliminate all potential hazards on this machine as this would impair its full functional capability. Corresponding danger notices attached to the machine warn against any dangers.

The safety instructions are provided in the form of socalled warning pictograms. Important information on the location of these safety signs and what they mean is given below!

Familiarise yourself with the meaning of these warning signs. The text printed next to the danger sign and its location on the machine indicate where specific hazards are located on the machine.

3. Preparing for Operation

3.1 Special safety instructions

• The mower is designed solely for agricultural use (operation in accordance with specifications)

• While working with the mower, all personnel must keep a sufficient safety distance from the cutting tools.

• The support skids must be on the ground before the machine is switched on and during operation.

• Even when the mower is used in accordance with specifications, stones etc. may be thrown out. Therefore, nobody must be allowed to enter the danger area. Special care must be taken when working near roads and buildings.

• The protective cloth covers must be checked regularly. Worn and damaged cloth covers must be replaced.

3.2 Attaching the Disc Mower to the Tractor

3.2.1 Hitch points

The 3-pt hitch system is designed for cat. II and III.

• The protective features on the mower, e.g. cloth covers and guard plates, are designed to protect from stones etc. that are thrown out and to prevent access to dangerous parts of the machine.

Therefore it is essential that they are in position before work commences.

• When the mower is moved from transport position to mowing position or back to transport position, nobody must be allowed to go between the tractor and the mower.

• Special care is required when fitting implements to the tractor or removing them. It is essential that the accident prevention regulations are observed.

3.2.2 Coupling

• Secure the lower links (1) to the hitch points provided for this.

• Attach top link (2) preferably to the top hole of the 3pt headstock.

3.3 PTO Shaft

The disc mower is be operated with a maximum PTO shaft speed of 1000 rpm.

The PTO shaft must only be fitted and removed when the PTO shaft and engine are switched off and the ignition key has been removed.Secure the tractor against rolling away.

Be sure that the locking device of the PTO shaft locks into engagement.

Secure the guard tubes to prevent them rotating with the shaft.

3.3.1 Adapting the PTO shaft

• Hold the PTO shaft halves (1) and (2) next to each other

• Check the overlap of the attachment and protective tubes

• Shorten the attachment and protective tubes so they can move freely in all operating positions

• Adapting the length of the shaft is described in detail in the PTO shaft manufacturer's operating instructions

Check the swivel space and the free movement space for the PTO shaft. If the

PTO shaft touches the tractor or the attachment, this can cause damage.

• Push the PTO shaft (1) onto the tractor PTO shaft and secure

• Secure the protective tube using the retaining chain

3.4 Intermediate PTO shaft

• The intermediate PTO shaft for the conditioner drive is mounted with the friction clutch (2) towards the gearbox and the free-running end (1) towards the mower. Attach the retaining chain (3) to the mower.

3.5 Hydraulic

3.5.1 Special safety instructions

• When connecting the hydraulic hoses to the tractor, the hydraulic system on both sides must be free from pressure!

• When tracing leakages, use suitable aids and wear protective goggles to prevent injury.

• Fluid escaping under high pressure

(hydraulic oil) can penetrate the skin and cause serious injury! If such injuries occur, consult a doctor immediately. Danger of infection!

3.5.2 Connecting the hydraulic hose

Two single-action control devices are required on the tractor for operating the disc mowers attached on the rear .

The following functions of control devices depend on the position of the rocker switch on the in the control unit:

• Raises and lowers both mowing units from the transport position to the forward position or viceversa.

• Raises and lowers the left mowing unit from the working position to the forward position or vice-versa

With the cross conveyor only:

When the hydraulic hose is connected, the hydraulic control device must be in floating position or in the “Lower” position.

• The control cable (3) must be so positioned that it can not cause any accidental movements in any transport or working positions

• The control cable does not come into contact with the tractor tyres.

• Release the pressure before disconnecting hoses and before any work is carried out on the hydraulic system.

• Check hydraulic hoses regularly, and replace any damaged or worn hoses.

Replacement hoses must conform to the mower manufacturer’s technical specifications.

3.6 Connection for electrical operation

The connection for electrical operation is made with the power supply plug (2)

• Insert the plug on the power supply cable (2) into the continuous power socket on the tractor.

Before inserting the plugs, make certain the plugs and sockets are clean and dry.

Dirt and moisture may result in short circuits!

3.6.1 Function of the switches on the control unit

The machine must be connected with 2 single-action control units. It is operated from the control units on the tractor.

The control unit can be used to select various functions of the machine. The actual functions are performed by the control devices.

The following table explains the function of the individual switches.

3.8 Lighting / Warnig panels

3.8.1 Special safety instructions

• Before any transport on public roads is undertaken, it is essential that the lighting system is connected and checked for correct operation.

3.8.2 Connecting the lighting equipment

Use plug (1) to connect the lighting equipment.

• Insert plug (1) of the lighting equipment into the respective socket of the tractor.

Connect the lighting system and check that it works properly.

The machine is fitted as standard with the following equipment to meet the traffic regulations:

• Three-unit rear lights (1) (flashing lights; tail lights; stop lights)

• Red reflectors (2) at the rear

• Yellow reflectors (3) at the rear laterally

3.9 Changing from Operating to Transport Position

• Switch off the power take-off before folding up the mowing units into transport position.

• Lifting the mowing units is only permissible if the mowers are at a complete stop.

• Wait for the machine to be at a complete stop before folding up the mowing units and before approaching the danger area.

• The mowing discs can continue to run after the drive system has been switched off.

• Always close the hydraulic shut-off tap after having moved the mowers to transport position.

• Moving the rear mowing units into transport position will cause an increased overall height of the vehicle.

• Do not allow riders on any part of the mower combination during field operation or road travel.

The combination must always be lifted during road and highway travel.

• Depending on the position of the control devices, switching the electrical control unit could cause functions to be triggered. Caution is therefore advised during operation if there is anyone in the area of the machine.

• To prevent functions from being triggered accidentally, it is essential to turn off the control unit when the machine is being transported.

• With “cross conveyor” option:

To move the entire machine to the transport position, the cross conveyor belts must previously have been let down so they cannot collide with each other in the transport position.

Fold up the disc mowers before transport.

To do this:

• Move the rocker switch (2) to the “down” position.

(see 3.6.1)

• Move the rocker switch (3) to the “middle” position

(see 3.6.1)

• Activating the control device (1) (blue) (see 3.5.2) on the tractor causes the mowing units to be slowly raised to the forward position.

• Move the rocker switch (2) to the “up” position.

• Activating the control device (1) (blue) (see 3.5.2) on the tractor causes the mowing units to be moved to the transport position.

3.10 Changing from Transport to

Operating Position

Before lowering the mowing units it must be ensured that no persons, animals or objects are in the folding range of the mowers.

Do not switch on the power take-off before the mowing units are resting on the ground.

• Move the rocker switch (2) to the “up” position.

(see 3.6.1)

• To lower the mowing units release lock (1) by operating pull rope (2) from the tractor

• Operate control unit 1 (blue) (see 3.5.2) on the tractor to lower the mowing units slowly to headland position.

• Move the rocker switch (2) to the “down” position.

(see 3.6.1)

• Move the rocker switch (3) to the “middle” position

(see 3.6.1)

• Activating the control device (1) (blue) (see 3.5.2) on the tractor makes it possible to move the mowing units to the working position

Be sure that the control units 2 and 3 are set to “lowering” or “floating position” during field work.

Before setting the mower into operation again, unfold the lateral guard (1) if this has been folded up for transport.

Periodically check the guard cloths and replace them if worn or damaged. The protective devices of the mower

(e.g. cloths and hoods) prevent stones and other foreign objects being thrown away and obstruct access to hazard points. They must therefore be locked in protective position before starting work.

3.12 Safety measures before mower operation

• Only carry out work on the mower unit once the PTO shaft has been switched off, the engine switched off and the ignition key removed. Secure the tractor against unintentional operation and rolling away.

• Always check protective devices for damage before operation. Replace damaged protective devices immediately. Risk of injury!

• Prop up the cutterbar when raised.

Never stand under a suspended load!

• Safe operation is only guaranteed if the cutter blades are fitted according to the instructions.

• Always check the mower unit for damaged, missing or worn cutter blades before operation. If necessary, replace cutter blades. The same applies for retaining components.

• To prevent unbalanced rotation, only replace missing or damaged cutter blades as complete sets.

• Never fit cutter blades with different levels of wear to one drum/disc.

• Whenever you change cutter blades also check retaining components and replace them if necessary.

• Move guards into position.

3.13 Unhitching the disc mower

• When detaching the mower, do not walk between the tractor and the machine!

• When connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses to and from the tractor hydraulics, the system on the tractor and machine must be presureless! Move the appropriate control valves into the flow position.

• Set down the disc mowers on a solid surface.

• Lower the three jack stands (1) and secure using the pins (2).

• Uncouple PTO drive shaft (3) from the tractor and place it onto support (4).

• Uncouple the hydraulic hoses (5) from the tractor, clip on the dust caps and hang up hoses on their support on the 3-pt headstock.

• Disconnect the connection of the lighting cable (6) between the tractor and machine and place it in the holders provided for that purpose.

• Disconnect the power supply plug (7) between the tractor and machine and place it in the holders provided for that purpose.

• Remove the control unit (8) from the tractor and fasten it on the three point block.

• Remove the synthetic rope (9) from the tractor.

• Release the top link and remove hitch pin on the machine side or unhook the hitch link.

• Remove the lower hitch pins or release the lower coupling hooks.

The position of the front guards depends on the height adjustment of the lateral guards. Dimension a = 440 mm . Choose the position of the guards that matches the height of the crop to be mown. Adjusting front guard (1) to dimension “a” ensures the best possible protection against objects being thrown away. The guard is then parallel to the ground.

The front guards can be opened using a screw driver which has to be used to pull down the pawl.

4.3 Adjusting the compensation springs

• The ground pressure of the cutter bars will be adjusted to the local conditions via the compensation springs (1). In order to protect the grass stubble, the cutter bars have to be relieved of the load so much that it doesn’t jump while mowing and at the same time, that it doesn’t leave any tracks on the ground.

• Ground pressure can be adjusted using the threaded spindles (2).

Adjust the threaded spindles (2) of the compensation springs (1) to a dimension of x = max. 80 mm.

with Conveyor belt x= 5 mm

Move the mower to transport position to adjust the compensating springs.

It is essential that the springs are adjusted to the same length at either side.

4.5 Adjusting the Conditioner

Speed (only EasyCut 9000 CV)

The conditioner speed may only be adjusted if the tractor engine is stopped and the ignition key removed.

Secure the tactor to prevent it from moving and running away.

To conditioner speeds can be selected on the gearbox, depending on power requirement and desired conditioning intensity.

Minimum speed: 600 rpm

Maximum speed: 900 rpm

• Drive out wing nut (1) from shift lever (2).

• Turn shift lever (2) 180° and at the same time turn mower disc (3) in order that the shift lever can fully be turned around.

• Secure shift lever (2) using wing nut (1).

4.6 Adjusting of the Conditioner Cover

(only EasyCut 9000 CV)

The conditioner cover plate can be adjusted by means of the crank handle (1) to adjust the conditioning of the crop. The setting depends on the required degree of conditioning of the crop.

Swath width can be varied by adjusting the conditioner flaps (1) located on the rear side of the machine. Ringnuts are provided to lock the conditioner flaps in the desired position.

5.1 Special safety instructions

• Repair, maintenance and safety work must only be carried out when the mower drive and the tractor engine are switched off!

• The mower discs run on after they are switched off! Remove the ignition key and take measure to prevent the tractor rolling or being inadvertently switched on.

• When working on the disc mower in transport position, it is essential to close the transport locking device (hydraulic valve) on the hydraulic cylinder of the disc mower.

• The blades and retaining bolts must be checked every day or before each time the mower is switched on.

• Check regularly to ensure that the lower screw-in sections on the tension springs are completely screwed in.

5.8 Checking the blades and securing pins

Missing and damaged cutter blades cause dangerous unbalanced rotation.

For this reason check the cutter blades and retaining bolts every day.

The cutter blades can be turned around and used on both sides. When cutter blades are missing or damaged, they must be replaced as a complete set. This prevents dangerous unbalanced rotation.

If the thickness of the material between the hole and the end of the cutter blade has reduced to less than a = 7 mm, replace the cutter blade.

Cutter discs with screw connection blades

The material thickness of the retaining bolts must not be less than 14 mm at the weakest point.

At every replacement of the blades check the material thickness of the securing pins. Damage or worn securing pins have always to be replaced by sets on each mowing disc.

Cutter discs with quick-release blades

5.10 Changing the blades on the cutting discs with screw connection blades

• To mount the blades, insert the blade (5) between the wear plate (2) and the mower disc (1).

• Insert the retaining bolt (3) from below through the wear plate, the blade and the mower disc.

• Place the hex nut (4) on the bolt from above and tighten it firmly (see chap. 5.2 Torque moment)

• Repeat this process for all blades, even on the mower drums.

The hex nut (4) used to secure the retaining bolts must not be used more than 1 times.

After changing the blade, check that they fit perfectly and check that they are freely moblile.

5.11 Changing blades on cutter discs with quick-release blades

• Push the special tool (1) {blade key} between the cutter disc (4) and leaf spring (3) and press down with one hand.

After any replacement of the blades, it is essential to check that the blades (2) and the leaf springs (3) are correctly seated on the pins (5). The blades (2) must be freely movable on the pins (5).

Heavily damaged linings (see illustration) must be replaced immediately to prevent any risk of damage to the cutterbar.

• Open the seam of the old lining.

• Disassemble the lining.

• Trim the bearing surface.

Adjust the welding current and the welding material to the cutter bar material and to the lining or carry out a trial welding if necessary.

• Adapt the new lining (3).

• Weld short I-seams on the upper surface of the cutter bar in the areas marked (1) (each should be approx.30 mm)

• Do not weld the edges.

• On the lower surface of the cutter bar, weld the lining

(3) along the whole length in area (5) with the cutter bar.

• Do not weld the edges.

6. Winter Storage

Store the machine in a dry place.

Do not store it near artificial fertilizers.

Clean the machine thoroughly. Dirt attracts moisture and causes corrosion. If you clean the machine with high pressure water jet sprayers, do not direct the water jet at the bearings.

Check moving parts (joints etc.) for freedom of movement. Where it is appropriate, remove them, clean them and check them for wear. If necessary, replace them with new parts!

Overload clutch storage.

Oil all joints!

Thoroughly grease the machine.

Grease the protective sleeves of the PTO shaft to prevent them from freezing.

• Touch up the paintwork; bare metal must be conserved thoroughly with rust preservative.

Make a list of all replacement parts needed, and order them in good time. It is easier for your

KRONE dealer to obtain and fit the necessary parts out of the season. Your machine will then be fully operational for the coming season.

7. Start-up after winter storage

7.1 Special safety notes

• Repair, servicing, maintenance, cleaning work may only be carried out when the machine is at a standstill. Switch off the machine. Remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor from rolling away.

• All protective plates and protective devices should be reassembled correctly after servicing and maintenance work has been completed.

• Prevent oil and grease coming into contact with the skin.

• Contact a doctor immediately for injuries caused by escaping oil.

• Observe all safety notes to prevent injuries and accidents.

7.2 General

• Remove the grease and oils used to preserve the machine

• Carry out the measures given in the chapter

"Maintenance"

• Bleed the friction clutch.

• Carefully read through the operating instructions again.

7.3 Friction coupling

Bleed the friction clutch (1) before the first operation and then once a year before the harvesting season. The coupling plates might be stuck to the friction plate.

The friction clutch protects the tractor and the machine from damage. It is fitted with a fixed starting torque M

The torque is stamped on the friction clutch housing (2).

Bleed the friction clutch.

Tighten the four nuts (1). Block the machine and turn the friction clutch by hand. Loosen the nuts again.

• Alterations made to the overload coupling change the starting torque.

8.1 Special safety notes

8.2 High cut skids

Adjusting skids can be used to increase the cutting height (see Section 4.1.1 Adjusting the cutting height).

To do this, insert the adjusting skid (3) into the glide skids (2) and screw them in place.

Install the high cut skids under the cutting discs which are located next to a cutting drum.

8.3 Conveyor belt (EC 9000 CV)

The KRONE Conveyor belt is equipped with all required safety devices (protective equipment). However, it is not possible to eliminate all potential hazards on this accessories as this would impair its full functional capability. Corresponding danger notices attached to the machine warn against any dangers.

The safety instructions are provided in the form of socalled warning pictograms. Important information on the location of these safety signs and what they mean is given below!

Familiarise yourself with the meaning of these warning signs. The text printed next to the danger sign and its location on the machine indicate where specific hazards are located on the machine.

8.6 General information

The EasyCut 9000 CV offers the possibility of forming a double swath and a single swath (working with a crossconveyor belt) or a triple swath (working with both crossconveyor belts). Cross-conveyor belts are rotated down to the tedder hydraulically from a raised position to form the swaths.

During the rotation process, the conveyor belts are automatically turned on. The speed of the conveyor belt can be pre-set with the aid of a rotary potentiometer (4).

The setting determines the discharge distance of the crops and thus the resulting swath width.

To form three individual swaths, the cross-conveyor belts are rotated up hydraulically. The conveyor belts switch off automatically.

The cross-conveyor belts must be moved to the work position for transport

• Move the rocker switch (2) to the “down” position.

• Move the rocker switch (3) to the “reight” position.

(see 3.6.1)

• Control device (1) (blue): Raises and lowers the left cross conveyor

• Control unit (2) (yellow): :Raises and lowers the right cross conveyor

To move the entire machine to the transport position, the cross-conveyor belts (3) must previously have been let down so they cannot collide with each other in the transport position.

8.7 Adjusting and Maintenance

8.7.1 Conveyor belt speed adjustment

The rotary potentiometer (4) can be used to adjust the speed of the conveyor belt.

Clockwise = faster

Anticlockwise = slower

8.7.2 Adjusting Conveyor belt

The conveyor belt must be tensioned to an expansion of approx.0.6 %.

To do this:

• Loosen the bearing bolts (4) on the right and left of the conveyor belt.

• Use the adjustment screws (3) on the right and left to release tension from the conveyor belt.

• Place marks on the conveyor belt at a distance of a =

1000 mm.

• Use the adjustment screws (3) to tighten the belt until the dimension between the marks is a = 1006 mm .

• Tighten the bearing bolts (4) on the right and left. (see the section entitled „Maintenance: tightening torques“)
