Frequently asked questions

The rear lube kit re-routes rear lube fluid feeding the planetary gears, providing more positive lubrication flow. It is especially important with low axle ratios and high speeds, as the planetary gears are always working in overdrive.

The AOD transmission uses a throttle valve (TV) cable instead of a vacuum modulator. To raise the shift points, you need to modify the 'TV limit' valve to provide an increased maximum TV (anti-shift) pressure to the shift valves.

Common issues include forward clutch wear, direct clutch durability, and sluggish downshifts out of overdrive. These issues can be addressed through modifications like a heavier duty direct clutch pack, five-plate 'police' clutch drum, and enlarging the forward clutch apply orifice in the valve body.
