Advantage 6 Remote Keypad

Introduction
The remote keypad is an electronic switching device which can be fitted as an accessory for the Advantage 6 control panel and has been designed to fit into a single gang back pattress (not supplied), which can be either flush or surface mounted.
The remote keypad can be wired using a 4-core cable (if the tamper circuit is not required), or wired with 6-core cable if a tamper circuit is required between the main control panel and the remote keypad. The unit has been designed simply to arm, disarm and part-arm the system. It is not possible to change the systems programs using the remote keypad.
At the control panel

Isolate the panel from the mains supply.
Type in your engineer code.
Unscrew the front cover of the alarm panel.
If your alarm has a sounder with SAB unit fitted it is advisable to disconnect the SAB battery.
Disconnect the battery from the alarm panel.
Connect the small driver board as shown in figure 1.

The remote keypad is supplied with an attractive white finishing plate to blend in with existing surroundings the remote keypad is also back illuminated to facilitate ease of use during evening time or when fitted in dark areas. Up to 6 keypads can be used on one panel.
Installation
We recommend that before beginning the installation work these instructions are read carefully.
Note: DO NOT USE A METAL PATTRESS.
Position the remote keypad at a height that allows ease of use.
The same height of a light switch would be suitable, run a 4 or
6-core cable (if tamper is in use) from the main control panel to the remote keypad, taking care not to run the cable adjacent to mains (230V) cable, feed the cable into the pattress and then secure the pattress to the wall.

Now connect the keypad as shown in figure 2.
Note: If you use the 24 hour tamper circuit you need to connect the keypad in series with the other devices connected in the circuit.

If more than one keypad is required then the connections should be made in parallel apart from the 24 hour tamper circuit that should be connected in series.

Re-connect the alarm panel battery.

Re-connect your sounder/SAB battery.

Replace the alarm panel cover and press the panel.

Operating the remote keypad
On initial power-up the remote keypad user code will be set at zero (0), and an audible bleep will be heard at the remote keypad. An audible bleep will also be heard at the remote keypad whenever a key is pressed at the main control panel or the remote unit.

Enter the engineer programme code, the clear LED will flash.
Follow the key sequence below:

Press 8 If remote part guard is selected, zone1
LED will illuminate.
Press 1 to select/de-select remote part guard.
Press to store.
The control panel will bleep to confirm acceptance.
Press to exit engineer programming mode.
Changing the remote keypad user code
The user code for the remote keypad can be a different code to that which is used on the main control panel. However, for ease of use, making both the same may be preferable.
To alter the remote keypad user code.
1.
Enter the old remote user code, (factory preset at 0).
2.
Press ÔPÕ and enter your new remote user code (up to a maximum of 12 digits may be used).
3.
Press ÔPÕ again. Your new remote user code is now stored in the memory.
Part-arm setting using the remote keypad
Enter your remote keypad user code and press ÔEÕ; pause for one second and then press ÔEÕ again.
To unset system enter your remote keypad user code and press ÔEÕ.
In the event of an alarm activation the system can only be switched off at the main control panel and not at the remote keypad.
Arming the system using the remote keypad
Enter your remote keypad user code. Press ÔEÕ. Allow two seconds delay before the exit tone is heard.
If a zone is open during the exit procedure a different tone will sound. The system will not arm until the zone is cleared, (the open zone will be indicated at the main control panel). Check the property to locate the open zone, rectify and return to the remote keypad.
Code reset
In the event of the code being forgotten the keypad can be reset by disconnecting and re-connecting the 12V supply to the keypad at alarm panel. The code will then be reset to Ô0Õ. Reprogramming will be as described in Ôchanging the remote keypad user codeÕ.
Re-enter your remote keypad user code. Press ÔEÕ. You can now leave the premises via the designated exit route.
Disarming the system using the remote keypad
Enter your remote keypad user code and then Press ÔEÕ.
Part arming the system using the remote keypad
(If the part-arm facility is not required proceed to the code reset).
This is a useful feature for night time settings when movement is essential in certain parts of the property.
Remote keypad tamper protection
The remote keypad incorporates an audible indication to alert the user if the keypad is tampered with.
1.
If the remote keypad is removed from the pattress housing and the tamper circuit is used, the system will activate.
2.
If an incorrect code is entered into the remote keypad, (in either standby mode or an active mode), after the third attempt the remote keypad will bleep for approximately sixty seconds then silence.
To part-arm the system via the remote keypad, you will need to select this facility at the control panel.
