Frequently asked questions

You can recognise the version of the modem looking at the GSM antenna on the left side of the modem. There are two versions: the first one supports an antenna with SMB connector interface and the second one supports an antenna with FME connector interface.

The Ignition Line is used to control the 'soft-on' procedure of the internal GSM modem. To switch the modem on, the Ignition Line has to be connected to a voltage level of (10,8V ... 31,2V). To switch the modem off, use the commands AT+CPOF or AT+CFUN=0 (see AT commands chapter).

Before connecting the DB9 serial port connectors to external equipment, you need to determine if the external hardware serial ports are configured as DTE or DCE. As a general rule, DTE ports connect to DCE ports via straight through pinned cables. All TANGO series are designed for use as a DCE unit. TANGO communicates with the customer application (DTE) using the following signals: TxD, RxD, RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, RING.

The TANGO modem provides two versions of antenna connector: SMB and FME. You need to use an antenna with the same type of connector.

GPRS class 2 supports download speeds up to 28.8 kbps, while GPRS class 10 supports download speeds up to 56 kbps.
