Flow Meter Installation

This system ships with the flow meters removed. The illustrations below shows what the flow meters will look like after they are installed.

3. Install the output plumbing hand-tight. The outlet plumbing includes the pressure sensor and pressure gauge.

NOTICE

To prevent damage, be careful when handling the pressure sensor and pressure gauge assembly because the pressure sensor cable is attached.

B (Blue) Side A (Red) Side

1. Place the flow meter in position as shown in the illustration below. The flow direction arrow is pointed up and the sensor is on the outlet side (top, as shown) of the flow meter.

4. Align the flow meter assembly and fully tighten all fittings.

5. Connect the flow meter cable.

Ramp Up Feature

Ramp Up Feature

The ramp up feature enables the variable ratio dispensing system to maintain the dispense ratio selected by the user during the dispense operation. During a dispense operation, the B (Blue) pump will monitor the torque amount supplied to verify it does not exceed the capacity of the pump. If the high volume pump is required to dispense at a flow beyond its capacity, an off-ratio condition will occur.

Since the system typically dispenses more volume from the B (Blue) side the system needs to monitor the amount of torque applied on the high volume side. If the torque applied reaches the maximum amount for greater than 100 – 150 mS, the B (Blue) pump logic will force a ramp down of the mixed flow rate and both pumps will synchronize their efforts to reduce the flow rate out of the mixer.

The ramping logic will not be executed when the operation dispenses material out of the ratio check nozzles.

Flow meter calibration dispenses, ratio check dispenses, Learn mode dispenses, and Prime mode dispenses all operate without the ramping logic being executed. Also, the ramping logic will not be executed during a base purge operation. Because of this, when the user executes a flow meter calibration or a ratio check dispense, it is recommended to choose a rate which is known to be less than the maximum capacity of the system.

Typically the first dispense of a day will occur after the machine has been “base purged”. Hence, the mixer is completely full of the base which is thicker viscosity and harder to move material. Because of this the ramp up logic will unconditionally start the first dispense of the day at a reduced rate to get the proper ratio of materials into the mixer.

Anytime the system implements a ramp down operation, or starts a dispense at a reduced rate -- other than the first dispense of the day -- a “System Dispensing Below

Requested Set Point” message is generated and the yellow advisory lamp on the light tower is illuminated. If the system is able to ramp up to the user requested flow rate and ratio the advisory will be cleared accordingly.

The flow rate requested and the temperatures of the two components affect how long it takes to achieve the requested rate.

Dispenses Following System Idle Time

If the material in the system has been idle for a given amount of time -- currently set to 10 minutes -- the next dispense may require significantly more torque to move the material at the same rate as before. Conversely, once the material starts moving through the dispenser plumbing and the two component mixer, less torque is required. Because of this, if the ramp logic idle timer expires, the next dispense will start at a reduced rate.

Learning Mode

Learning Mode

The system enters Learning Mode whenever a new flow rate or ratio is selected. When a Learning Mode is entered, the “Learning New Set Point” advisory will be generated.

For instance, if the system is in Operator mode dispensing at 335 grams per second at 2.22:1 ratio, then the system is changed to Shot mode and dispenses a shot which has a 320 grams per second and 2.22:1 ratio, then a Learning mode will be entered. Changing operating modes will not affect Learning mode.
