INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 7 JUICE PRO GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR JUICEPRO Juicing is a fun and easy way to enjoy fruit and vegetables. The different taste combinations are endless and only limited by your imagination! The JuicePro Whole Fruit Cold Press Juicer is not a conventional juicer and therefore cannot be used in the same way. Take the time to get to know the mechanics of your juicer and how it works best, to do this we suggest you start with easy to juice items, soft fruits and vegetables like oranges, and work up to experimenting with different foods and flavour combinations. 8 INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Preparing Fruits and Vegetables The wide whole fruit chute helps cut down time consuming and messy food preparation. The below tips will also assist you to quickly and easily prepare for juicing. - Always ensure fruits and vegetables are washed and patted dry with a towel prior to juicing. - Peel off any inedible skin, remove stems and hard seeds. - If the ingredient does not fit easily into the feeding tube cut into pieces that will fit. - Long or fibrous materials such as celery or spinach should be cut into lengths no longer than 10cm as the fibres can wrap around the squeezing screw and damage the unit. - Hard materials such as carrots will take longer to process, we suggest you soak in cold water first or cut to a smaller size. DO NOT put the following ingredients into your JuicePro. - Hard or inedible skins (orange, pineapple, mango, melon etc.) must be removed before juicing. - Hard seeds (stone fruits, mango, etc) must be removed before juicing. - Ice or Frozen fruits. Unless you are using the frozen dessert strainer, completely thaw ingredients before juicing. Do not use ice. - Ingredients with little water content (bananas, coconut etc) cannot be juiced. Ingredient Type and Juicing Speed The size and type of ingredient and the speed at which you feed it into your:juicer is very important in achieving good results. To familiarise yourself with the process we recommend you start with easy to juice soft materials with high water content such as citrus fruits. (Remember to always remove the peel first!). Feed the material into the hopper slowly, allowing the JuicePro to fully extract the juice before moving onto the next piece. Work at a pace that will allow the juicer time to work and process the material before adding more. Harder materials will have a longer extracting time, use the pusher gently if needed but never force material into the JuicePro. To assist with processing hard materials we suggest you alternate then with a material that is high in water content such as apple or orange. Through use of your JuicePro you will soon familiarise yourself with the right feeding speed and material size. Time to Experiment Once you are confident in using your juicer get creative and experiment, who knows you may just invent a new flavour! Here are a few ideas to get you started: You can try all sorts of fruit / vegetable combinations - don’t forget to try adding beetroot, cucumber, broccoli, berries or tomatoes to name a few. Juice leafy greens such as spinach or wheat grass. (See page 11 for juicing for leafy greens.) Try adding fennel for an aniseed flavour. To get a nice kick add a small amount of Ginger or Garlic. Make an almond or soy milk. (See page 11 for Soy & Nut milks) INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 9 JUICE PRO Quick Tips Refrigerate ingredients before juicing to maximise taste and juice yield. Close the juice outlet cap when juicing a mix of ingredients, it will help the different ingredients to combine and produce a smoother tasting juice. Banana's won't juice! Just make your juice minus the banana then pop juice and banana in a blender to make a tasty smoothie. Clean the juicer immediately after juicing to minimise staining. If you are making multiple juices in one session avoid flavour cross over by pouring water into the hopper between juices to rinse the unit. Ensure that rinsing water is captured in a separate bowl so as not to dilute your juice. 10 INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Tips for using the Drip Free Cap If you are juicing different ingredients keep the drip free cap closed as it will allow the juices to properly mix and provide a smoother, nicer taste. If the drip free cap is closed make sure that you do not let the juice level in the bowl exceed its capacity otherwise it will overflow and may damage your unit. To prevent drips after you have finished juicing close the drip free cap, especially when you are disassembling the unit. If you are making several juices, quickly and easily clean out the JuicePro between each one by pouring some water into the machine with the drip free cap closed. Open the drip free cap and discard the water before starting the next juice. Leave the drip free cap open when using the frozen dessert strainer. Juicing Leafy Greens Leaves are more difficult to process and may take some practice to get used to. The best way to feed them into the hopper is to roll them into small tight parcels before feeding into the hopper. Wet leaves will not process as well as dry leaves so after you have washed them pat dry with a towel. For the best results we suggest you juice leaves with other fruits or vegetables and alternate between feeding leaves and the other material into the hopper. It’s best not to finish the juicing with leaves as some may remain in the machine. Fibrous or thick materials like celery should always be cut into short lengths as the fibres can wrap around the squeezing screw and cause your juicer to stop working. Making Soy and Nut Milks Soy beans need to be boiled before being juiced. Slowly feed equal parts of soy beans and water (you can utilise the water used to boil the soy beans if you wish) into the hopper. The soy milk can be run through the Juice Pro a second time to further refine it. To make nut milk only use raw nuts that have been soaked in water overnight and rinsed thoroughly. Simultaneously feed nuts with some water into the hopper, the nut to water ratio will determine how creamy the milk is. Try juicing raw almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts alone or in combination.
