M1000A35
Owner’s Manual
Introduction
The AtlasIED M1000A35 is a self-contained Analog Sound Masking System. The M1000A35 features a compact enclosure utilizing an efficient wide range 8" speaker powered by an internal 5-Watt amplifier. The M1000A35 also features a 30-Watt amplifier slave output to drive other non-powered masking speakers such as the AtlasIED M1000, M1000R and the M2000. The M1000A35 is capable of powering a masking system up to 5000 sq ft of coverage. Separate amplifier level controls are incorporated to control the internal speaker and slave output. A variable Hi-Cut filter allows for contouring the masking spectrum to the environment. A remote level control port is incorporated to allow for easy access level adjustments. The
M1000A35 is ideal for small to medium size installations that require a self-contained system.
The M1000A35 is highly efficient utilizing a Class D topology amplifier and is UL2043 Plenum rated. The included power supply is an external in line UL rated 24VDC power supply requiring no additional electrical conduit in most United States cities’ electrical codes.
Installation is easy to do by utilizing a single suspension point mounting method. Included are two removable hanger brackets.
Key Features
• Able to Power a Masking System up to 5000 sq ft of Coverage
• UL2043 Plenum Rated
• Energy Efficient
• Efficient Wide Range 8" Speaker
• 5-Watt Class D Topology Amplifier to Power Internal Speaker
• 30-Watt Amplifier Slave Output to Feed Additional Passive Speakers
• Separate Internal Speaker & Slave Output Level Controls
• Variable Hi-Cut Filter

Applications
Achieve acoustical privacy in open and partitioned office areas by installing AtlasIED’s self-contained sound masking system. The M1000A35 is a compact assembly that adds low-level sound into an environment to obscure ambient noise, thus achieving conversational privacy in designated areas.
The equalized masking sound lowers intelligibility and “masks” disruptive outside sounds.
This easy-to-install system may be used in general applications to increase privacy and / or productivity in individual cubicle and work areas by
“blocking out” surrounding conversations. It is also used in individual office areas, common waiting areas, and professional offices where confidential conversations occur.

1. DC Power Input
A UL Certified external 24VDC 2.5A power supply is supplied to power the M1000A35. Powering the M1000A35 requires use of the included external power supply. It is suggested to place the M1000A35 within 6ft of a 120V AC outlet. If this is not possible, the power supply wire for the 24VDC output can be extended up to 50ft. Note: This does not void the warranty as it is the low voltage wire that is being extended. Note: Pay attention to the DCV polarity when reconnecting the removable Phoenix connector. Note: Only use this approved power supply or failure may occur. Must be installed by a qualifier technician.
2. Power Indicator
A Blue LED will illuminate if the External DC power supply is plugged into the receptacle and has AC power supplied.
3. Internal Speaker Level Control
The M1000A35 has one internal 8" speaker. A level control has been incorporated to adjust the level of the internal speaker. Rotating clockwise increases the signal.
Note: When the gain is turned fully counter-clockwise there will still be some signal present at the output.
4. External Speaker Level Control
A level control has been incorporated to adjust the level of the external 30W amplifier slave output. Clockwise increases the signal. The Internal and
External Level Controls are independent of each other. Note: When the gain is turned fully counter-clockwise there will still be some signal present at the output.
5. Hi-Cut EQ
This potentiometer allows one to adjust the masking signal parameter to meet a basic masking spectrum. This Hi-Cut filter adjusts from 2kHz - 16kHz at 6dB per octave. Note: The EQ affects both the internal and external amplifiers.
6. External 30W Amplifier Slave Output
This 30-Watt amplifier output can power additional 70V non-powered masking speakers. The AtlasIED M1000 speakers are recommended. This amplifier output has its own level control but utilizes the same masking signal for both the internal speaker amplifier and external amplifier.
7. Power Cord & Speaker Cable Strain Relief Point
To secure power cord to chassis place a cable tie through the slot and around the cord.

8. Remote Level GPIO Control Port
This VCA technology control port features an industry standard 10V DC, Ground, and RMT port for external control. Most 10k Ohm potentiometers can be used with this control port. We recommend using the AtlasIED ATMASKSC Speech Privacy Level Control. The ATMASKSC features calibrated 1dB level steps making it ideally suited to work with the M1000A35 when commissioning a masking system. Note: The ATMASKSC will attenuate the level a maximum of 9dB and will not turn the signal completely off. If it is necessary to fully attenuate the signal, we suggest the AtlasIED WPD-VC10K. It is important to follow the wiring labels from the M1000A35 control port to the ATMASKSC control ports. It requires 3-wire conductors, 22-24 gauge. The remote level control can be placed several hundred feet away from the M1000A35.

9. Internal Speaker
The M1000A35 has one internal 8" speaker. To adjust the speaker level use the internal speaker level control.
10. Hanger Brackets
There are two hanger brackets included with the M1000A35. These can be used to suspend the unit from a simple point.

Installation
The illustration below shows how to mount the M1000A35 to an open or plenum ceiling. AtlasIED suggests suspending the unit via a cable to the enclosed hanging brackets. The cable must be secured enough to handle 5 times the weight of the unit. Note: The suspension location in the ceiling must meet local building codes. Contact a local building inspector prior to installation. Placement of the M1000A35 must be within 6 ft of an approved electrical outlet that meets the local electrical codes.
