This vacuum cleaner is designed for the collection of dust in indoor areas. This machine is for indoor use only.
The machine is intended for commercial use, for example in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, offices, rental businesses and other than normal housekeeping purposes.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
The safety information described in this manual provides basic precautions and supplements standards in force in the country where the machine is used.
This symbol warns the operator of hazards and unsafe practices which could result in severe personal injury or death.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of injury, electric shock or fire.
1. This machine must only be used for the manufacturer’s approved application as described in this manual.
2. Operators must be fully trained in the use of the machine in accordance with these instructions, able to perform regular user maintenance and the correct selection of accessories.
3. Only genuine accessories and spare parts provided with the machine or those approved by the manufacturer should be used. All repairs must be performed by a qualified service agent.
4. Do not use without filters or dust bags in place.
5. Do not modify the machine from its original design.
6. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
7. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
8. The appliance must be powered off at the mains when removing the battery (Model: V-ESCAPE-B).
9. The battery is to be disposed of safely (Models: V-ESCAPE-B, V-ESCAPE-H).
10. Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the machine when in use. Do not use as a toy.
ELECTRICAL HAZARD
The machine must be kept clean and in good condition with regular inspections of the power supply cord and plug for signs of any damage. If any parts are damaged they shall only be replaced by an approved part by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
DO NOT leave the machine connected to the electricity supply when not in use; always remove the plug from the socket outlet.
DO NOT leave machine running unattended. The plug of the power supply cord must be removed from the socket-outlet when not in use and before commencing cleaning of the machine or undertaking maintenance operations.
11. Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the machine when in use. Do not use as a toy.
12. CAUTION - This machine is for dry indoor use only and should not be used or stored outdoors in wet conditions.
13. DO NOT use where hazardous dust is present.
14. DO NOT use in an explosive atmosphere.
15. DO NOT pick up or use near flammable or combustible fluids, dusts or vapours.
16. DO NOT use to pick up moisture, any liquids or hazardous dust.
17. DO NOT use to clean up any burning or lighted materials such as cigarettes, matches, ashes or other combustible objects.
18. DO NOT use the appliance to vacuum tiny particles like cement or plaster dust as this will shorten life of the motors.
19. Take care when using a machine near the top of stairs to avoid overbalancing.

20. DO NOT put any object into openings. DO NOT use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, debris and anything that may reduce airflow.
21. Keep hair, loose clothing, hands, feet and all other parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
22. Switch off the machine before removing the plug.
23. When unplugging, pull the plug, not the supply cord.
24. DO NOT pull or carry by the supply cord. DO NOT use cord as a handle, close door on cord or pull cord around sharp edges or corners.
25. WARNING: Keep the power supply cord clear of moving parts.
26. During operation hazard may occur when running the machine over the power supply cord.
27. DO NOT kink or twist the power cord and keep cord away from heated surfaces.
28. DO NOT operate switches or touch the mains plug with wet hands as this may cause electric shock.
29. The power supply cord plus any extension leads should not exceed 30 meters in total. The cross section of an extension cable wiring must be at least 2.5mm².
30. The appliance is only to be used with the power supply unit provided with the appliance (Model:
V-ESCAPE-H). It must only be supplied at safety extra low voltage corresponding to the marking on the appliance (Model: V-ESCAPE-H).
31. The battery must be removed from the appliance before it is scrapped (Models: V-ESCAPE-B,
V-ESCAPE-H).
32. WARNING - Against using non-rechargeable batteries
33. If the battery pack is leaking or damaged, do not handle. Return it to a Service Centre for disposal.
WARNING Contact with leaking liquid from battery pack can cause skin irritation, burns and chemical burns. Wash affected areas of skin with plenty of water and soap; if irritation persists, seek medical attention (V-ESCAPE-B, V-ESCAPE-H).
34. This battery contains Lithium-ion batteries. Used battery packs should be placed in a sealed plastic bag and disposed of safely according to local environmental regulations. Contact a Service Centre for disposal.

35. Precautions to be taken when changing brushes or other attachments.
36. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the appliance before being charged.
37. Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be mixed.
38. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
39. Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the appliance and safely disposed of.
40. If the appliance is to be stored unused for a long period, the batteries are removed.
41. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
WARNING - Operators shall be adequately instructed on the use of these machines.
WARNING - This machine is not suitable for picking up hazardous dust.

CAUTION - This machine shall be stored indoors only.
The machine shall be disconnected from its power source during cleaning or maintenance and when replacing parts or converting the machine to another function:
for mains operated machines by removing the plug from the socket-outlet;
for battery powered machines by safely disconnecting at least the B+ or B‒ pole of the battery or an equivalent method (disconnecting device); for non-SELV both poles must be disconnected.

SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. For maximum running time, always charge the battery pack before use. There is a power level indicator located at the connector side of the battery pack which indicates the amount of power left in the battery pack by pressing on to the white button.
2. The battery pack can be charged at any time, and does not need to be entirely discharged.
3. A battery pack lasts for approximately 500 to 600 cycles of charging.
4. If charging is required, use original charger when charging this battery pack (Model: V-ESCAPE-B)
5. If charging is required, plug in power cord to mains power supply (Model: V-ESCAPE-H).
6. WARNING: Before every use, check the battery pack for any sign of damage or leakage.
7. Do not charge damaged or leaking battery pack.
8. Be sure to charge the battery pack using a genuine CLEANSTAR approved battery charger.
9. In case of damage to the device or cords, return it to your place of purchase.
10. Use and store charger in a dry place and do not expose charger to moisture.
11. Do not use the charger if it is wet or in an environment which is explosive or hazardous.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
1. Loosen the shoulder straps.
2. Adjust the length at top of shoulder strap (if required)
3. Lift the back pack by one shoulder strap.
4. Then slide your free arm into the other strap.
5. Tighten the hip band so the machine rests comfortably on your hips.
6. Pull down on shoulder straps for a comfortable fit.
7. Do up chest strap to secure back pack.
8. Plug the extension cord into wall outlet. Always unwind the cord completely before vacuuming. It is important to maintain the power cord in good condition (Model: V-ESCAPE-P, V-ESCAPE-H).
Note : V-ESCAPE-H is able to unplug unit from wall outlet in used. When power lower, plug the extension cord into wall outlet could be continuing used and charging the battery pack.
9. Attach the extension rod/wand to the vacuum hose and attach the desired cleaning tool.
10. Clip the on/off switch to the waist belt and turn the backpack vacuum cleaner to the on position.

How to Clean/Change the Dust Container
1. Hold the handle and push the button down with your thumb to release the dust container from the vacuum unit.
2. Hold the dust container over a rubbish bin and push the lock button at the bottom to empty the dust container
3. Close the dust container and insert the container back into vacuum unit.
Filters
The Cleanstar Escape vacuum cleaners are equipped with a HEPA filter and an exhaust filter. These filters capture fine dust particles and protect the motor from dirt. It is important to replace the HEPA filter and exhaust filter approximately every six months.

Thermal Fuse Protection
(Model: V-ESCAPE-P)
The Cleanstar Escape Power (Model: V-ESCAPE-P) vacuum cleaner comes equipped with an Automatic
Reset Thermal Fuse Protector. This thermal protector is designed to protect your vacuum cleaner from overheating should the airflow be blocked for extended periods. This may occur if the dust container is overfull, if the filters have not been regularly cleaned or if the vacuum hose is blocked. The vacuum motor will stop before it can get too hot. If this happens, empty and thoroughly clean the dust container and filters or free any blockage and ensure that adequate airflow is restored. The motor will automatically restart after it has cooled to a safe operating temperature after approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
(Models: V-ESCAPE-B and V-ESCAPE-H)
The Cleanstar Escape Battery (Model: V-ESCAPE-B) and Escape Hybrid (Model: V-ESCAPE-H) vacuum cleaners come equipped with a Manual Reset Thermal Fuse Protector. This thermal protector is designed to protect your vacuum cleaner from overheating should the airflow be blocked for extended periods. To reset the thermal fuse:
1. Unplug the Backpack vacuum cleaner
2. Check for problem (over-filled dust container, clog in hose, clogged filters, etc.)
3. Correct the problem.
4. Locate the ‘tripped’ thermal reset button located on the bottom of the unit.
5. Using a pointed object, push the reset button.
6. Plug Backpack vacuum cleaner in and begin using.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The following simple checks may be performed by the operator.

Turn machine off and ensure hose is unblocked. Ensure dust bag is clean.
After 30 minutes the machine should be ready for use. If not, contact a
Service Centre.

Remove, empty and clean the dust container.
Backpack has no/poor suction
Dust container not installed correctly.
Remove and empty dust container making sure it is correctly fitted.
Hose not installed correctly.
Reconnect hose and ensure it is correctly sealed.
Blockages.
Remove hose, wand and floor tools; remove any blockages.

CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY
This document outlines the terms and conditions of warranty for your Cleanstar product. This is an important document that should be kept with your proof of purchase documents in a safe place for future reference should you require service for your product.
Thank you for purchasing your new Cleanstar product. We are confident this product will give you trouble-free use and excellent service, provided the operator uses and maintains the product in accordance with the Instruction Manual. Please read the Instruction Manual carefully before using the product for correct operation and maintenance procedures, and store it in a safe place for future reference.
1. This is a parts and labour warranty against faulty or defective parts, materials or workmanship in manufacturing, when the product is used and operated in accordance with the Instruction Manual.
2. This product carries a 12 month (1 year) warranty period that commences from the original date of purchase by the first user/purchaser, and is not transferable.
3. This warranty only applies to products purchased and used in Australia.
4. At all times during the warranty period, Cleanstar shall, at its sole discretion, determine whether repair, replacement or refund will apply if the product has a valid warranty claim applicable to it.
5. The repair or replacement of the product under this warranty does not extend the original period of warranty.
6. Please note that this warranty will be voided in the following cases (which are not exhaustive) and the warranty does not apply to the cost of replacing any parts of the product resulting from:
Accidental damage;
Normal wear and tear;
Neglect, misuse or physical abuse by the operator, including failure to properly maintain or service;
Any alterations, modifications or tampering with the product without the prior written consent of Cleanstar;
Incomplete or improper installation;
Incorrect, improper or inappropriate operation;
Insect or vermin infestation;
Power surges, electrical storm damage or incorrect power supply/voltage;
Excessive use or use for which this product has not been designed;
Vacuuming up water, liquids, toner, powders, glass, hazardous, flammable or corrosive materials, plaster dust, concrete dust and other similar building or construction materials;
Failure to comply with the operating instructions contained in the Manual supplied with the product;

If the product is rented;
If the product is used outside of Australia;
If the product was serviced or repaired by anyone other than Cleanstar, or one of Cleanstar’s Authorised Service Agents (ASA).
Cleanstar is unable to accept any responsibility under this warranty for any repair work not carried out by an ASA or from the use of non-genuine parts.
7. This warranty does not cover service calls, travelling time or consumable parts such as belts, dust bags, filters, hose or hose parts, rods and wands, floor tools and accessories, motor brushes and other like consumable items, unless defective in manufacture. In order to prolong the life of accessories and consumables, regular care and maintenance is recommended.
8. Please retain your original proof of purchase which will be required before you can make a claim under this warranty. If proof of purchase can not be provided at the time of a warranty claim or service, any work carried out on the cleaner is chargeable.
9. Any transportation and delivery costs involved in the repair of defective parts shall be borne by the claimant. In all instances, unless the product is transported by Cleanstar or a Cleanstar authorised representative, the product is transported at the owner’s cost and risk while in transit to and from Cleanstar or its ASA.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies under law in respect of the product to which this warranty relates.
TO INQUIRE ABOUT MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THIS WARRANTY, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS: a) carefully check the Instruction Manual and the terms of this warranty; b) have the name and model number of the appliance available; c) have the proof of purchase available (ie. invoice, receipt, etc) showing where the appliance was purchased from and date of purchase; d) call Cleanstar on (03) 9460 5655 to speak to one of our customer service staff.
