Place the record player on a table so that the front protrudes over the edge. Holding the record player securely, turn it carefully to locate and loosen each screw. Use a screwdriver or a coin for this, but note that the screws cannot be removed completely. If you ever have to move the record player, we strongly recommend that you tighten the three transport screws before you do so. хз PLAY D TRANSPORT Placement The record player must be placed horizontally on a stable surface. Allow a space of at least 30 cm above the record player so that the dust cover can open freely. va) Connections Once connected to the mains, the record player is in stand-by mode and ready for use. Place the platter on the turntable and check that it can move freely. It should feel springy when pressed lightly. 4 Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Adjusting stylus pressure The stylus pressure must be adjusted to match the type of Bang & Olufsen MMC cartridge fitted on the tonearm. Set the slider situated on the right-hand side of the tonearm to the appropriate value: MMC 1=1.0 gram MMC 2=1.0 gram ММСЗ = 1.2 grams ММС 4 = 1.2 grams ММС 5 = 1.5 grams io 1.8 15 10.8 Si i A E If you want to check the stylus pressure using a stylus gauge, place the gauge underneath the stylus, press LIFT> and keep the button depressed for more than two seconds. The tonearm will then lower onto the gauge, and you can read off the pressure on the gauge. Remember to raise the stylus guard on the cartridge before you start playing a record. Using the controls Start playing Place the record on the turntable. Press the PLAY button to start playing the record. Alternatively, you may lightly press the surface of the front panel at the right-hand side where it is marked PLAY. If you instruct the Beogram 6500 to play without placing a record on the platter, the tonearm will remain in its resting position although the turntable will rotate briefly. If you want to clean the record before you start playing, press <TURN. The turntable will rotate and the tonearm will move into position without lowering onto the record. When you have finished cleaning, press PLAY to start playing. 25-cm records must be started manually: First press <TURN on the Beogram 6500. Then gently guide the tonearm to the edge of the record and start playing as usual. Setting speed The Beogram 6500 automatically registers the size of standard records and determines the speed accordingly (33 or 45 rpm). The speed selected appears on the indicator arm which lies parallel to the tonearm. You can set the speed manually if, for instance, you want to play an EP. Press PLAY and then 45 or 33, whichever is appropriate. You can change the speed at any time during play. Pausing Press either <TURN or ЛЕТ» to lift the tonearm off the record. The turntable will continue to rotate but the tonearm will rise and remain above the point from which it was lifted. Press PLAY to lower the tonearm and continue playing. If you don’t resume playing within approximately 8 minutes, the Beogram 6500 will automatically revert to stand-by. 6 Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine > Using the controls Stepping through the record Without stopping the record and without touching the tonearm, you can move the tonearm to any position on the record you like and resume playing from there. Press <TURN to move the tonearm towards the end of the record, or press LIFT> to move the tonearm towards the beginning of the record. Keep <TURN or LIFT> depressed until you find the point at which you want to start playing. Then release the button and press PLAY. During this procedure a tiny beam of light will illuminate the record to help you find the right spot. Stop playing _ Press @ to stop playing. The tonearm will rise and return to its resting position, and the record player will revert to stand-by. If you keep ® depressed for more than two seconds, a connected Beomaster 6500 will also switch to stand-by mode. Repeating a record You can, if you like, make the record player play a record up to seven times in a row. Press PLAY once to start playing. Then press PLAY again the number of times you want the record to be repeated. If you have given the record player a repeat instruction, the speed indicator will flash on and off. If you use <TURN, LIFT> or 0, the repeat function will be cancelled. 8 Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine 10 Maintenance Stylus Fluff and dust can build up on the tip of the stylus and cause distortion during play. Therefore, clean the stylus every now and then using the tiny brush provided. Carefully brush the stylus only from the back of the cartridge towards the front. Any stylus cleaning fluid should be used in moderate amounts. Surfaces Wipe off dust with a soft, dry cloth. Use a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water to remove grease stains. Be careful not to touch the cartridge and the stylus. Never use denatured alcohol to clean any part of the record player.
