The EURO-2000T cash register belongs to the family of portable cash registers. It is light and compact. The
Euro-2000T is designed for smaller businesses, easily transportable from one sales area to another, and can be easily moved to areas as a substitute cash register in case of power failure. Inspite of its small dimensions it is technically a very well equipped cash register offering great flexibility with connectivity to many peripheral devices. It can be connected to a personal computer, to a bar code scanner and to an electronic scales as well. The cabinet comprises a sufficiently large space for a very adequate paper roll.
"
"
"
"
can be power supplied :
From the main source of current by means of the AC/DC adapter
From a built-in high capacity lead accumulator
From the external battery box
From the car accumulator (12-24 V) through car lighter cable
Both the AD/DC adapter and the built in accumulator are supplied with the cash register.
The displays back light, external display, money drawer, external battery box with the starter cord, car lighter cable, paper roll end optical sensor, communication software for personal computer and modem communication, water-resistant spill proof keyboard cover and carrying bag, are optional accessories.
The Euro-2000T provides several managerial functions and reports. It supports completely a national or native language and its special characters. Both programming and reports are in native languages. The cash register is intended mostly for ambulant, movable or remote sales areas and for businesses with small sale frequency. Because of its reasonable price this cash register is often used as a back-up register in situations where a cash register is out of service or a power failure demands a non-electric cash register.

ELCOM company wishes to thank you for the purchase of the
EURO-2000T cash register. Please read the instructions to become familiar with its functions and operations before you start to operate this equipment. Keep this manual for future use. It will help you to solve most problems encountered in its operation.
IMPORTANT:
• Install the cash register in a place where it will not be exposed to direct solar radiation, unusual temperature changes (under 0° C and above 50°C) and to high humidity. Installation in such places could may result in damage to the cabinet and electrical components as well.
• After transporting the unit from a cold environment to a warm one and vice versa, do not switch on the cash register within 20 minutes at a minimum or sufficient time for all components to be conditioned to the new temperature conditions.
• An individual having wet hands should not operate the cash register without a special wet cover.
Water could seep into the interior of the Euro-2000T and cause component failure.
• Clean the cash register with dry, soft cloth. Never use such cleaning agents like petrol or solvents. Using such chemicals can result in discoloration or deterioration of cabinet.
• Avoid spilling any liquids on the cash register as they may damage its functionality. The keyboard is to be protected with care.
• Connect the cash register with the supplied adapter into a standard network plug. Other electrical equipment connected in the same network circuit may cause improper functioning of the cash register. In an environment with strong interference use the special anti-interference aids recommended by the manufacturer of the cash register.
• If the cash register malfunctions, contact your authorized dealer for service. Do not try to repair the register yourself. Do not open the cash register!
• Pull out the AC/DC adapter plug from its electrical connection if the device is to be fully disconnected.
• During receipt printing wait until the printer has finished printing. Do not tear off the receipt during printing. Printer damage may result.
• Use only high-quality thermo paper. Improper ribbons may result in damage to the printer or shorten its lifetime. When using suitable ribbons and by properly maintaining the printer, the average lifetime is up to 25 million lines!
• Use only the supplied AD/DC adapter for electrical connection. Use of other types of adapters may result in damage to the cash register.
• Use only the program recommended by your authorized dealer as well as the original interconnecting cable for the cash register communication with a computer. For bar code scanners use only the connector recommended in these instructions.
• When operating and using the cash register in other way than described in these instructions the dealer cannot be responsible for data correctness and resulting damages.

DEPARTMENT
DEPARTMENT (DPT) is used to denote the goods groups having some common features (dairy products, foodstuffs, fruit etc.). It is characterized by name, parameters and by the preprogrammed selling price, if it is to used for direct sale. One of the main common features of the goods belonging to the same department in connection with this cash register, is the VAT rate. It means that goods with the same VAT rate can be assigned to one department.
PLU
(Price Look Up) abbreviation for the denomination of the specific goods (goods item). PLU code represents the goods name, the sale price and flags (assignment to the goods group, PLU type etc.)
E.g. Fat milks - 13,50 SK, White yogurt - 7,50 SK).
Relationship between the departments and PLUs.
The following example clearly describes the relation between the goods groups (departments) and the goods items (PLU). 16 PLU and 4 goods groups were used here.

Function keys
The Euro-2000T cash register keyboard is very comfortable and ready for the operation throughout the day.
The function keys and group keys are equipped with transparent removable covers for placing the customized labels. You can simplify your work if you mark the department keys by your own group names (dairy products, alcohol, pastry, etc.).
The keyboard is sensitive to contamination, humidity and dirt. If your cash register is situated in such an environment, it is recommended that an optional transparent waterproof keyboard cover be used.
Secure a cover from your authorized dealer. It helps avoid keyboard failures and keeps the register permanently in operation. A new cover should replace a damaged or dirty cover.

6.1. Recommended procedures for manager at the beginning of the day :
1. Check if there is enough paper roll in the printer for the day. Insert a new paper roll, if necessary.
2. Print out the X report and make sure that date and time values are correct.
3. Check, whether there is enough cash in drawer.
4. Register the initial cash put into the drawer by means of
O
(RA) button.
6.2. Printing modes.
Electronic Cash Register Euro-2000T allows choosing printing mode according to two basic criterions:
1. Printing speed
2. Power consumption
Two character fonts are included in Euro-2000T : small and normal. The small font is used in case of no external power source is connected to Cash register (adaptor, battery box atc.). Normal font is used if external power source is connected to ECR.
If the ECR is powered just from internal lead-acid accumulator, user can choose one from three printing modes with small character font.
1. Normal - normal printing saturation, normal power consumption. This mode is set as default.
2. Economical - the printing saturation is a little bit lower than normal one. The printing speed is
little bit higher than normal one. The lowest power consumption in this mode. This mode takes
advantage if ECR should work with no external power supply as long as possible.
3. High speed - the printing saturation is a little bit lower that normal one. The printing speed is
much higher than normal one. The highest power consumption. This mode takes advantage if
sales cadence is high. The discharging of internal lead-acid accumulator is much higher than
in normal mode, so that the ECR can work without external power supply less time than in
normal mode (according to the same number of receipts).
If the ECR is powered from external power source, user can choose one from three printing modes with normal character font.
1. Normal - normal printing saturation, normal power consumption. This mode is set as default.
2. Economical - normal printing saturation. The printing speed is lower than in normal mode. The
lowest power consumption. This mode takes advantage if you need to use ECR and you need
to charge the internal lead-acid accumulator at the same time.
3. High speed - the printing saturation is a little bit lower than normal one. The printing speed is
much higher than normal one. Lower power consumption than normal one. This mode takes
advantage if sales cadence is high.
Note : Programing of system flag 15. sets the printing modes.

6.3. Paper rolls installation.
For the Euro-2000T cash register operation a two thermo paper ribbon of 28mm width is used. The left one is designed for customer receipt printing and the right one for the journal print. Use only rolls of good quality with a maximum diameter of
60mm.
To ensure proper cash register operation, make sure the printing saturation is properly. If any problems occur consult your local authorized dealer.
By carefully pressing the left-hand index finger against the printer cover in the rastered area (the arrow) the printer cover can be removed from the upper register cover.

Euro-2000T User manual
To get better information about particular revenue items split the articles into departments (article groups).
The expression of department means the articles group of the same category (dairy products, pastry, alcohol etc.), or of the same tax level (VAT 6%, VAT 23% etc.). The Euro-2000T cash register enables the use of a maximum of 8 departments and, if PLUs are used as sub departments, the number increases up to
3100 or as much as 4100. The amount depends on the cash register memory configuration.
Item registration is finished by pressing the proper department button (DPT1-DPT8). After pressing a department button, the registered amount is added to revenue within the department. By pressing the department button for the corresponding tax group, the maximum registration amount, preprogrammed price and others parameters are assigned to the amount value. The sale information is stored in the register memory and utilized for department reports.

9.4. Split-pricing entries into departments.
The cash register can be preprogrammed for registration of split prices. Use this function when a customer wants to purchase more or less than the base quantity of a loose item.
Example: The price is determined for packing including 5 pieces of the goods (e.g. a box of cheese).
A customer buys only 3 pieces. Thus he pays three fifths of the whole box unit price (5 pieces).

10. PLU entries
Articles have assigned numbers (PLU numbers-codes). For example, RAMA butter -5, skimmed milk-23,
Rum 0,5L-189 etc. Preprogrammed data concerning the articles - name, price, assignment to the department, etc. preprogrammed in the cash register memory, linked to particular PLU numbers. By entering the
PLU code and by pressing the
U
button the data are searched (looked up) automatically in the register
PLU registration permits the storing of information about the sale of each particular item, printing names of articles automatically on the receipt, printing the unit price automatically and assigning the transaction to department revenue. It also prevents mistakes in keyboard registration. The name of each item on the receipt the satisfies the customer for correctness of items purchased. By automatically calling preprogrammed data from the cash register memory, faster customer service and greater accuracy is provided.
PLU registration makes it possible to get a clear overview of the sale of each particular item. Personal computer and a bar code scanner can even emphasize the advantages of the PLU registration.

11. What to do in case of power failure
© Elcom s.r.o.
11.1. Power failure
This part is important only for registers that operate without the built-in accumulator.
If you have used the register and if the power failure occurs it is necessary:
• to switch the register off
• after electric power recovery switch on the register
• if the register displays the text The purchase not finished it is necessary to complete the purchase and compare the resulting sum with the total of registered items within the purchase; if one of the items has not been added to the total sum of the purchase but it was sold to the customer it is necessary to register it additionally
• if power failure is encountered during printing and the report has not been printed, switch the register on and repeat the report again.
11.2. Failures of register as a result of interference in the power network.
Accidental failures of electronic equipment being frequently caused by the power network or by electromagnetic interference. In a case of very intensive interference in your working area, or in the case of over or under voltage, installation of protective devices can help significantly. Ask your authorized dealer or service technician for help.
12. What to do in case of LowBat signaling
Display :
Displaying of LowBat warns the operator about discharging the built-in accumulator.
If the discharging is low, the LowBat is being displayed only when the receipt is printed.
LowBat is momentarily displayed and the operator is warned by a warning beep tone. If dis-
Low Bat

2000 charging is intensive LowBat is displayed permanently and an interrupted warning tone is sounded.
It is necessary :
• to register the purchase
• additionally to connect the register to the external adapter
• if it is not possible to connect the register to the adapter you should turn it off and start to use it only after connecting the adapter or battery box
Warning: Long-term usage of the register when LowBat is signaled can result in decreasing the accumulator life-time or in damaging the register. If the internal accumulator is very discharged and you want like to charge it by external adaptor, first of all be sure turn off the ECR. After that, connect the external adaptor for at least 15 minutes (ECR is off). The internal accumulator is chargeing even the ECR is turned off.

13. Optional accessories of the Euro-2000 cash register
13.1. Wet keyboard cover
It is recommended that a water-proof keyboard cover be used in places where the register is operated with wet or dirty hands. It is also desirable to use the cover in dusty places or places that are risky for contaminating substances that endanger the keyboard. Beverage damaged is frequent in many locations.
The water-resistant cover is made of a transparent thin, flexible and resistant foil in the shape of the keyboard.
It will be stickled by the self-sticking stripes on its edges.
The affordable price of the cover permits replacement with a new cover inexpensively. With proper care the keyboard of the Euro-2000 cash register will function for 10 million pressings. That exceeds the usual standard minimum by ten times.
13.2. Display back light
The display back light increases the display contrast, protects your sight and enables you to use the register under conditions of insufficient light.
The panel of the display back light of the Euro-2000 produces a luminous orange (yellow, green) display base.
The letters and digits are black.
You can ask for a display back light installation by your Euro-2000 authorized dealer. The panels of the back light are usually installed for both displays.
The display back-light increases power consumption and shortens operational time of a cash register powered by an accumulator. For this reason it is recommended that the back light be switched on or off as needed.
You can prolong the operation time of the register powered by an accumulator by means of the external battery box.
67
Euro-2000T Program manual © Elcom s.r.o.
13.3. Batery box.
The battery box is the external device of the Euro-2000 cash register that enables to substitution of the external power supply. It increases the capacity of the in-built accumulator that is supplied in the standard configuration of the register. The battery box contains the lead accumulator, a charging device and an interconnecting cable.
The battery box is charged from the power network by connecting it to the adapter that is supplied with the
Euro-2000 cash register. Small dimensions (177x34x90) and low weight (1,3kg) of the battery box permits carrying and using several battery boxes. The interconnecting cable of the battery box is equipped with a connector that is normally used for car lighter connectors. By interconnecting the register with this cable and car lighter connector, a car accumulator can be used for long time work.
13.4. Power supply cable for for supplying the register from the car
The unique solution of the power supply circuitry of the Euro-2000 cash register permits supplying of the register with a wide range of input voltages (DC 9-37V). Because of this feature the register can be power supplied from a car or truck battery if needed (12V or 24V). For this type of power supply only the interconnecting cable inserted in the car lighter connector is needed. Every car is usually equipped with this connector at present.
13.5. Cash drawer
The Euro-2000 cash register permits connection of most cash drawers equipped with a 12V solenoid as the opening device. The register has a built-in interface for automatic cash drawer opening. If needed, you can use both the narrow (3 compartments for notes) and wide drawers (4 compartments for notes).
The drawer is interconnected with the register by a cable that automatically controls drawer opening. The small cable with the connector permits disconnection of the drawer comfortably when carrying the register. This function is very advantageous for very small businesses where you can put the drawer in any place without losing the ability for the cash register to open it automatically.
Ask for the cash drawer from your authorized dealer of the
Euro-2000.

13.6. External display
Euro-2000T Program manual
The external display supplements the displays for the cashier and for the customer that are built into the cabinet of the Euro-2000 cash register. The external display is situated at a place where the customer can see it clearly.
It is interconnected with the cash register unit through the cable supplied with the display. It is delivered either with the back-light or without it, in the table version with a small column or without a column with a catch stripe for removable sticking to the base.
Ask your authorized dealer for external display.
13.7. Carrying bag
This bag is a convenient assistant especially for operators of ambulant sales. The carrying bag permits carrying basic supplements to the register and protects it against damaged.
69

13.8. Bar code scanners
The Euro-2000 cash register is equipped with an interface for bar code scanner connection. If it is desirable to use a bar code scanner, this chapter will try to advise you which scanner to choose. It is recommended that you consult with your authorized dealer on the purchase of a scanner and connectivity with the cash register.
The scanner is connected to the cash register by means of a built-in RS-232 serial interface with the standard
Canon connector. Thus, the bar-code scanner must also be equipped with the same interface and connector.
The cash register provides +5V for power supply to the scanner. Before connecting, it is necessary to program both the scanner and the cash register with equal communication parameters.
Proscan and Metrologic scanners are recommended for use with the Euro-2000. For other information, ask your local dealer. The price of the scanner is better if it is with the Euro-2000 cash register.
Proscan ELC-72 R
Manual, ultra light CCD scanner with a long reading distance, the line system of scanning, flexible manipulation, the most advantageous price, easy programming, low cost, +5V supply, extremely low consumption, scanning speed 10 lines per second, maximum scanning distance 70 mm.

The meaning and function of the Overview and Print menus of the main menu are very similar. Both of them offer a possibility to display the sales results read from the computer file. The basic difference represents the output device - the monitor of your computer or the printer. The type of information is clear from the option name in the open menu bar.
By the output of the PLU price-list and the PLU sales report on the printer, it is to sort the output file according to several criteria. For the sake of both time and paper saving you can list just part selected by the entered range of the sorting criterion.
Note: By repeated creating of new files whether by sending them into the register or by reading the information about the sale from the register, program directory can become confusing. It is recommended to delete from this directory all out of date files.
